  • Try this - I love it: Pb2 Peanut Butter, Powdered, 2 tablespoons Kikkoman - Soy Sauce, 1 tablespoon Lime Juice, 1 tbsp Green Onion - Green Onion Raw (Whole), 1 medium (15 g) Mushrooms - Raw, 4 medium Cooked Beef Sirloin Strips, 50 g Microwave until hot. About 175 calories (including a package of shirataki). Very filling.…
  • For what it's worth - it's never too late. Put on 70 lbs with each of 2 pregnancies, and still hadn't lost the weight by the time the kids were both in school. They're 18 and 15 now - and as for me - my abs are in my avatar. It can be done! Best of luck - and don't let the apple juice and goldfish crackers lead you astray.…
  • Not a new hobby, but I build custom dollhouses and make the miniature furniture to go in them. Friends say I should sell them - but they are so labour-intensive, I would end up being paid about 50 cents an hour! So i do it for the fun. In maintenance for over a year now, but during the weight loss phase, found that working…
  • My go-to smoothie is very simple: 1/2 cup frozen peach slices 1/2 cup frozen cherries 100g non-fat yogurt 1/2 cup orange juice 1/2 cup water It's about 150 calories, and keeps me full until lunchtime! Plus it's a lovely bright pink color, and yummy!
  • A big juicy Nova Scotia lobster, simply steamed, with melted butter and lemon for dipping, and a bottle of chilled Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. Filet mignon expertly seared and served perfectly rare, with a large baked potato and sour cream, with maybe a Henry of Pelham Baco Noir, 2009 preferably. Classic Spaghetti…
  • I substitute quinoa for rice when I make a fried "rice" - just a spritz of olive oil, saute minced onion and garlic, stir in the cooked quinoa and whatever ingredients (cooked shrimp etc) you like in your fried "rice", low-sodium soy sauce to taste.
  • Wonderful story, and I thank you so much for sharing. You have a great approach that clearly worked well - you look awesome!
  • My profile picture. 2 children (1 by Caesarian), they are now 17 and 14. Thank heavens for MFP!!!!
  • For me, it really helped to tell myself "I don't eat that". Not "I can't eat that" - but that I don't. It's all about the mindset. I chose not to eat certain foods - I could if I wanted, but i'm the one who decided - and that was very empowering. That being said, I totally agree with the others that you really can have…
  • I have oral allergy syndrome, so not allowed to eat fresh fruit, only canned. Unsweetened applesauce is amazing, and only about 50 calories for a small single serving cup. For other canned fruit, look for them packed in water - I think it's Del Monte that has recently introduced mandarin oranges, peaches etc. that are…
  • i go commando too! I choose running shorts that have those built-in knickers (I guess it's a liner) and they are the most comfortable. With yoga pants, just commando. No panty lines to worry about.
  • The stairs are your friend. Walk up and down the stairs, and use the bathroom a few floors up or down from your office. Only a little bit of extra work, but day after day it adds up. Of course, that's assuming you're getting in a decent walk/run/workout or whatever kind of activity you like best :-)
  • amazing! well done to you :-)
  • in theory you can lose 10 pounds in 5 weeks if you set your calorie goal at "2 pounds per week" - but I think 1 lb a week is safer and saner. You didn't gain 10 pounds in 5 weeks - so it should come off slowly if you want it to stay off. The other point to consider is that every human body is different - you may lose 3…
  • Wishing you all the best as you begin your new life! In your diary, I saw two dinners in a row eating in restaurants - they are difficult to manage because the sodium and fat content is usually very high - I would try to keep it to eating out only once a week - and sticking to grilled meat and salad if you can. Overall,…
  • I second the motion. All in favour?
  • Surgical menopause since September last year, on HRT and having no problems - I lost about 4 more pounds post-surgery and have maintained easily since then (at goal weight). I've heard a lot of people having trouble with this, so I was concerned - but for me it wasn't an issue. Get your doctor to review HRT with you.
  • are you taking HRT? I know there is a lot of debate about it - but I am in surgical menopause, using the lowest/safest form of HRT, and I continued my weight loss and then maintenance with no trouble at all after the surgery. Consider joining the near or post menopausal group - they are a nice group of ladies with a lot of…
  • LOVE my fitbit. Had it almost a year now, and still check it several times a day, and it motivates me to keep on taking the stairs, walking further and faster...
  • can't access your diary
  • Have you seen any movement in body measurements? Any difference in how your clothing fits? The scale is a great tool - but it's only one of the many tools you can use to track your success. I've heard from a lot of people who don't see much change on the scale, but note big changes in their waist measurement or pants size.…
  • You've come to a good place - many people have great success here by very carefully logging everything they eat, and maintaining a healthy exercise regime. HOWEVER - if you have concerns about an eating disorder, I would consult your doctor first and ensure that everything is ok with you physically and emotionally. Then,…
  • I met my goal in Sept 2012, went on the maintenance setting, and actually lost a further 6 pounds on maintenance! Over Christmas followed by a week in Cuba, I gained back 5 pounds - but have lost those 5 pounds in a week of clean eating and drinking lots of water - so it must have been bloating from excess alcohol and the…
  • I usually judge people by their character, not their appearance - but when someone criticizes my body, then I check out theirs - and usually notice that the ones who think I'm skinny tend to have their own BMI in the unhealthy range....
  • Asics Gel Nimbus - I have horrible knees, and these are super-squishy and comfortably padded
  • ^THIS!! Running is mostly mental - your body is very capable of doing the running, but your mind puts up obstacles. I always cover my timer on the treadmill, and I either run with a partner and keep talking throughout the run, or I listen to my favorite tunes - and recently, we've started watching university…
  • planning for May long weekend 2013. Started with MFP in March and I have lost 40 pounds - down from size 12/14 to a size 6! Think I might try to lose another 5 pounds as "insurance", that will let me eat a bit more over the holidays and still fit into the dress.
  • umm, enter each one as an ingredient in your recipe folder, give it a name - then it's just one entry in your food diary....
  • lost 40 pounds and four sizes in 7 months:smile:
  • I've done this all my adult life - and thought I was the only one! It totally works - now it is second nature, even if I'm lying on the sofa watching tv, I have to consciously try to let go - and when my attention slips, the tummy muscles get sucked in automatically. I'm mid-forties, and my teenage daughter is slender -…
