I did SL for 2.5 months (Oct-Dec) and switched to Wendler's 5/3/1 in January. SL was great, but it did get repetitive and my hips were sore from squatting so much! Anyway, so far so good. It's similar to 5x5 but I have more time to do other exercises after the main lift of the day.

I have one every morning when I get back from the gym. I never really liked them until I started using almond milk instead of water - now I love them! 1 cup almond milk 2 ice cubes scoop protein powder 1/2 banana = YUM.

Great!

Yay! I can really only do 1-2 at a time (maybe the almost 3 was beginner's luck), but I'm doing them more frequently now so hopefully I can eventually do the 5x10. :noway:

I ordered my 1.25# from Amazon. They have all sizes, and it shouldn't cost too much to ship that amount of weight.
-
Congrats on the 75# loss! I agree with everyone else.
-
I haven't had any problem doing 5 reps.

You guys have awesome row #'s! I could never get above 80#.

That's exactly what I did during my 2 months of SL - lifted MWF, HIIT on T&TH. I just started 5/3/1 and will do cardio after my workout a couple of days per week.

Mine ached off & on for about a month when i started lifting heavy. I think it was just catching up to the heavier weights. I fell in love with the stretch machine at my gym and would use that every day!

Yeah, I was ready for a change! It was a little weird to not be stuck in the corner on the rack for my entire workout.

Great job!!

Today: Squat: 130 (3x5) OHP: 62.5 (3x5, but failed after 3 on the last set-first time at this weight!) DL: 155 (1 rep)

I would increase the weight a little bit. Especially deadlifts. But you will move up pretty quickly just adding 5/10 pounds each workout so don't worry too much about starting lower than what you think you are capable of. Your neck will get used to it - probably after a couple of weeks. I feel absolutely no soreness at all…

I get them in bulk at Sprouts.

About a month or so after I started lifting HEAVY, and after 2 months I saw a major difference. I swear the fat just melted off.

Have been doing 5x5 since 10/21/13 but switched to 3x5 the last couple of weeks. Today: squat: 130 (3x5) row: 75 (3x5) I have been stuck at this weight for a month! I HATE ROWS. Hate them. bench: 85 (3x5)

I have a case on mine, but honestly I don't sweat all that much while lifting.

@debress: Nice!!

Based on that comment alone, I vote for option 1!!!!

I use a separate ipod for my music, tucked into my sports bra along with the cord. My phone has the SL app (which really needs to be FIXED since I can't change the weights after updating to iOS 7........... :( ) and it's usually sitting on the window sill next to the squat rack.

Yeah, considering it's mostly dudes there at 6:00 a.m. - NOT happening. HA

I haven't foam rolled it because there is NO way I'm doing that at the gym!! I didn't watch your link but I've seen a couple of other videos on how to do it, and let's just say I'm a little too self conscious to do that in public. I may have to purchase one to use at home if it will help (I'm sure it will). Thanks!

@Stef - How did you hurt it? I think I joined after everyone had their injuries so I don't know the history of anyone's stuff. :(

Awesome!

I don't want to cut back, especially since it's not super painful, just more of an annoyance. It's not affecting my quality of life or anything. Plus I'm a rule follower and then that would just throw me off! LOL. Funny about the wider stance - my stance has been average (hip width) and the past 2 sessions I've widened it…
