  • I'm pretty sure that's it because when I did that stretch I really felt it! I'll keep doing those. :)
  • I started SL on 10/21 and DL my bodyweight last week. Well, I weigh 130ish and DL 135. So I was pretty excited, but that seems really wimpy compared to most women on this board!
  • True! So maybe try in a carpeted room. LOL
  • Ok maybe I should clarify the handstand pushups...I watched a Nia Shanks video on YouTube that someone else here mentioned (I can't remember who, but should give them credit!) and I'm not doing the full handstand yet. I just started out and I put my feet up on a coffee table or the side of my bathtub surround. Slowly you…
  • I HATE when spin teachers do that! There was a guy who would sub sometimes and he would walk around the room looking at your leg muscles, and if he thought they weren't pushing hard enough he'd stand there and make you up the resistance! I always snuck out when I saw that he was teaching! LOL. Anyway, I do the elliptical…
  • I have the same goals as you. Not looking to lose scale weight, just to increase muscle and lose some BF. I'm really wanting more arm/shoulder definition and I have DEFINITELY gotten more than ever before doing heavy lifting at 4-5 reps for the last 3 months. Anyway, since arm definition is a big goal, I try to do pushups…
  • Well I'm still a newbie but I'll answer! Warmups: I know there are calculator programs, but this is what I do: For example on squats, my "working weight" I'll have 30-40 pounds on each side of the barbell. So I'll do a set with the bar, then add 10 to each side and do another set, add 10 & do another set, etc until I've…
  • I'm on week 4 (I think?). I only discovered SL a few weeks ago, and had been unknowingly doing a modified version of it - my regular exercises but 4-5 reps per set as heavy as I could - for 2 months prior. Had pretty good results during that 2 months but liked the basic simplicity of SL so figured I'd try it for 12 weeks.…
  • I just went to her website and watched a few videos - thanks! Kirabob - True. I have added about 200 calories for the past couple of days so it's probably too soon to tell (but I swear I had an easier time squatting this morning...). Yeah I don't care about the scale so we'll see. Oddly enough I dropped over 1 # in weight…
  • Keep us posted!
  • I'd like to add more muscle - I'm thinking that number may be low but who knows. I have a smallish frame and know I can lose a little more fat, and I'd LOVE to actually have visible shoulder muscles! I know they are there hiding somewhere! I think I'll up the calories a little bit and see what happens. :)
  • I'm a little nervous about eating more calories, even though I know I probably should be. I'm eating about 400 calories below TDEE right now. I don't need to lose weight, but would like to lose a little more BF and put some more muscle on. Tell me it will be ok! :O I'm about 17% BF right now according to the handheld…
  • Ok I missed that part! I am getting 55555, but adding even just 5 pounds on the squat today made a difference so I took it off. I figured I'd try 5x5 for 12 weeks, then move to something else if I want a change. :)
  • Hi everyone, I'm on week 3 of SL 5x5. I'm not new to lifting and was doing low reps/higher weight (to me) for a couple of months before even finding out about SL! Is it normal to NOT be able to increase the weight EVERY time? Because dang, I just can't on some lifts... Right now I'm at: Squat: 115 Row: 80 BP: 80 DL: 110…
