LOVED THIS! I just posted a similar thing as a status update. Yes, it's discouraging to hate how you look/feel and it's easy to give up. tickerfactory.com ! Set it up on their site and they give you a URL. You copy & paste that into your signature. You just use a pin number to update it each time you log miles. Its pretty great and they have tons of options for backgrounds!

What I love about active/healthy lifestyle the most is that it's ALWAYS a challenge. From running faster to lifting more to fitting into a smaller size jean to trying a new sport. If you focus just on the number on a scale, you may eventually lose the drive. "Being fit" is so much different from "being skinny".
