This is so funny. I've lived in scotland all of my life and don't know anyone who eats the skin of oranges. We know not to because they've not been a rare exotic fruit here for quite some time. The juicing thing is interesting, I've fancied getting one myself and having one meal a day this way. [/quote] In Arbroath we ate…

I used a HRM in a similar manner for a year. I now get better results by going ALL OUT. In 20 mins I have increased my endurance by doing a series of sprints at 110% rather than figuring out some theoretical zones. I also toned up a hell of a lot quicker too. Needless to say I don't need a HRM any more, and I work out…

Strengthy curves please. Gwyneth paltrow and the catwal chicks look like they'd break if they lived in my house. Interestingly, I think most guys pick up on a healthy vibe from women. I've noticed how many of us men I know can agree that a certain women is attractive of not even although they may not be cover page…

Sounds like a healthy approach to me! I also take a similar view. I only log on mfp for a reality check Some seasons (winter) I am over 5000 calories with a couple hundred gram of saturated fat. SUmmer is veg season and not so much. Interesting how we learn by logging. I just go with what I feel; I think you are doinb…

Great Question - I don't think we can be addicted to real food. Food addicts rarely overeat on kale and salmon. It's usually industrially designed products like sugar, chips, chocolate and flour. We need real food like we need water, but don't suffer the addictive behaviors with it. It's just food to keep us alive, healthy…

You're fine. You killed whatever was on the outside. People pay good money for moist-aged meat in central Europe. Kind of an acquired taste I'm sure you'd agree :) ?

Like Rubybelle said. Avoid processed food - salt is used as a preservative in meat, canned, boxed products. Then you'll be back to normal.

Forget the calories? You said you felt great so what exactly is the problem? Are you clinically ill and underweight? If not continue eating real food. Never eat TOXIC junk, especially to boost calories. Too bad about the nuts, what about seeds? Heck even bacon or some fatty fish - excellent fat profile. Look up the…

GOod for you, you're clearly a very nurturing person. Now go do yourself a favor and throw out the ice cream, and don't by any again, ever! You DESERVE IT! Strawberries are still in season, taste great with some chopped nuts and a bit of natural whole cream drizzled over them. YUMMY. Trust me you will STILL get to eat ice…

You probably ARE hungry! I have 4 kids - they snack all the time. Actually I now think 'Snacking' is for kids. Try eating a good meal a couple times a day, especially early to fuel up. don;t worry about the calories as much unless they are sugar ;) When I used to eat umpteen times a day nuts and peanut butter helped…

Ooh some good stuff on this thread! Focus on going cold turkey for at least 2 weeks preferably 4. Throw out that garbage! Focus on the sugar and flour - and potentially cows milk, especially processed reduced fat stuff for sure. I went cold turkey grain free in solidarity with my daughter and have NEVER looked back. Her…

Way to bring it guys! A LOT of folks don't make it past 2 weeks so KEEP IT UP! Don;t be like them I've done the X a few times and got great results (so did my wife) KatBass MANY people (especially women?!?) gain some water weight in the first couple weeks but this is a GOOD THING. It is basically your body repairing…

I guess it doesn't hurt but it sounds a little obsessive. I've lost a few pounds after working out but what does that mean? water. Go for how you feel and what your goals are. btw, for guys we hop in front of the mirror and check our biceps and abs...3-5 times a day ha ha ha

Have dabbled in juicing. However, I cannot throw away all that fiber from the fruit - even into the compost. Seems wrong and wasteful. Also in Wisconsin we can't really get cheap fruits and veggies very often. More of a seasonal thing. The health benefits certainly offer an advantage over the standard junk most of us eat…

Urgh, that's too bad but there is a lot you can do as you know. Find a doctor who is SUCCESSFUL at reversing insulin resistance - there's quite a few and not just your usual 'public health' clinician. Avoid sugar like the plague -even in tropical and 'modern' engineered fruit (yes, many modern apple varieties are simply…

You can put protein in shakes - It works great for post workout recovery, tastes great too. Walnuts are good energy - just not too much ;) How are you measuring your insulin? If you drastically reduce sugar/flour you'll have little spiking, heck you may not have hardly any insulin - I don't. Are you pre-diabetic? I've seen…

Stick to your own health and fitness journey. Don't worry about other folks' negativity. I've had similar experiences AND WORSE!!! From Health care providers to family even. It's part of human life unfortunately . It may help you re-assess some relationships BUT stick to your guns! People are obviously watching and you may…

Fruit is the original desert. Have them slice it (or not) with a sprinkle of honey or cream (whole!) They'll LOVE it. My 4 kids' favorite is strawberry and pineapple (with a splash of cream). No need to add sugar. Can add some nuts (slivered almonds) for crunch. Easy, real, delicious and appears to be healthy, compared to…

I'm still skeptical of multi-vitamins, unless you are not eating plants and animals or have a proven deficiency. If you feel well and are healthy perhaps you can donate them to someone who needs them :)

You want muscle and lose weight AND don't know what your goal weight is??? Been there too :) I recommend cutting fat till you see your abs - at least you'll look muscular. Then work on 'bulking up' muscle with heavy things and calories. Keep eating clean and doing conditioning work till you cut like others suggest. Good…

Hmmm, I was scrawny and underweight for years. (so are my kids). Interestingly when I moved to America i was considered EXTREMELY underweight LOL!!! If you are healthy -GREAT forget the BMI that is DESIGNED for overweight patients anyways. Want your Beachbody on? Sooo you want some lean muscle I guess? Lift heavy and eat…

I'll 'interval eat' when I am VERY active doing High Intensity workouts like P90X or Insanity. Otherwise I fall into one big meal in the evening AND intermittent fasting (usually around Lent). I will still do some pretty heavy lifting and running at this time too though. Soooo, different eating strategies for different…

I've hit ketosis (not ketoacidosis -grins-) and it is very therapeutic for losing excess bodyfat. If you're high carb it might feel crappy initially but once your metabolism makes the change it's great. Just do it till you get your fat where you want then start adding fruits and veggies for energy. I've went for months…

Awesome! Are there ANY activities you enjoy? Walking, gardening, hunting? You can't sit all your life without negative health consequences - we have arms and legs :) I personally 'workout' to get better at things I enjoy. I get in the gym, lift damn heavy things till I'm toast, then leave (about 30-45 mins). That's it.…

The true 'cost' is actually less!. Consider factoring in "lifestyle mitigation" pharmaceuticals suchas insulin, hypertension, blood pressure drugs AND quality of life/morbidity issues. Striving for Health makes our short time on earth better. :)

Eggs for breakfast for sure! Heck, my whole clan does better with that, it's not just me. Usually avoid cereal grains due to gut inflammation/ allergy symptoms.
-
What 'things' are you needing you can't get from your diet? They are likely not in a 'multivitamin' anyways.
-
Agreed, cold turkey. BUT you may try carbonated water with a spritz of some anti-oxident bright berry - pomegranate/blue/cranberry. My kids LOVE that 'spicy juice'. Ironically water is more expensive than soda at the store :) What does THAT tell you?
-
Take care of your back! I recommend lying down and doing leg raises first before crunching. Planks are also great - it's up part of a push-up. Situps are a bad deal on your lower spine discs. look it up :)

You're on a plan, don't let it ruin your commitment, don't worry about a single day. Your calories are very low so make sure your gettingnutritous ones though. Hope you enjoyed your husbands treat! You didn't ruin a week, unless you only are sugar and flour?...
