  • hello! I think that what you are doing it a really great way to focus on getting healthy. I am one of those people you talked about who gets motivated for a few weeks and loses it so i'm hoping that this time around I will stay motivated! My main motivation is to feel better about myself and enjoy how I look this summer in…
  • I'm guessing that she knows that maybe she should be making to some of these choices herself but she isn't ready to. It is very possible that she is jealous of you and your strength to be healthy. Also, I know that when I was in college I wanted to just have fun and be crazy and it sucks to have friends who don't want to…
  • congratulations! shopping for all of those new clothes will be a blast and you will actually get to shop for cute-ness! :] keep up the awesome work.
  • Maybe you should try something else. Even if you have always enjoyed running maybe mixing it up an doing the elliptical, zumba, more weightlifting, etc. After a while you might have that urge to run again and then you will enjoy it even more! If that doesn't work and you want to keep running try to think about how good you…
  • I really appreciate this post. I am 5'8 and only want to lose about 15 lbs but have been eating 1200 calories. I know that it isn't good for me but it's hard to rationalize eating more so I've been having a net closer to 900-1100 some days which I know isn't healthy or sustainable. Plus, this week I didn't even lose any…
  • Hi Jess, my name's Jessica too! :] Welcome to MFP, its a great place to find motivation and support. Feel free to add me!
  • you can do it! The dress is perfect motivation. :] feel free to add me!
  • I'm having a great day! I woke up early and ran to Target for a few things. I found flats on sale (score!) and got some new lip gloss that i'm way too excited for. I stopped at the library for some books and the grocery store for some protein bars. After that it was off to the gym where I shocked myself and did over an…
  • I know on the treadmills the calorie counts are way different when you are at an incline. I google and found this thread that has a ton of info: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/389895-the-power-of-adding-incline-more-calories-burned
  • For breakfast I started eating greek yogurt with fiber one cereal mixed in. I don't love the texture so missing something crunchy into it makes it better and then I get high protein and fiber. I also like scrambled eggs (you can use egg beaters or a one yolk and more whites if you are worried about fat) with turkey sausage…
  • i've been bringing lunches to school for years. My typical lunch is: -turkey sandwich on a sandwich thin (you could do any lunch meat or peanut butter) -apple -cheese stick -fiber one/other healthy granola bar (aka, not chewy or other sugar loaded ones) -carrots (on a good day) other things that i bring somtimes are wheat…
  • Even when you can't control what you are eating (I totally get that since I live at home) you can control your portions. I know that my mom would sometimes be offended or get upset if I didn't want to eat what she made so I would eat less. I'd try to pick the healthier parts of the pean (protein and veggies) and eat more…
  • i highly doubt that going to 1500 will make you gain. 300 calories isn't much, especially if you are working out. you might lose a little slower or on the other hand you might feel more energized at your workouts. :]
  • I would recommend trying 30DS since you already have it, before you buy something else. It is a good workout and I think that you might find that all of the lunges and squats might work those buns and thighs pretty well. :] The suggestions from the previous poster about using heavier weights and doing multiple levels back…
  • I'll add you, i always love having more friends for support. :]
  • i'm 22 too! i'll add you! :]
  • Feel free to add me! I love chatting with people about weight loss and such. :]
  • Hi, welcome to MFP! This is a really great website and full of supportive people. I will add you as a friend and try to comment to help you out. :] I'm Jessica, 22 years old, and just starting this whole weight loss thing again. Hopefully it will be better this time around. Good luck!
  • I'm no expert but I thought I'd leave a couple things since there haven't been any replies yet. 1. Eating out is always tricky. I think that using the numbers on MFP is a good guideline and you should also look at the nutritional info on the restaurants website or menu (if available). Compare the two numbers and make a…
  • You should probably try to do a mix of cardio (burning calories) and weight training. As far as cardio I like to mix it up and use the elliptical some days and walk/job on the treadmill other days. You can also take classes to get your cardio in such as zumba or other aerobics. The cardio will burn calories which is good…
  • hi, you can feel free to add me! I'm 22 years old and only looking to lose 10-15lbs but I am happy to help motivate you and I love talking about weight loss/being healthy!
  • I think it is more fun if you have done zumba before because then you recognize the moves and it makes a little more sense. They don't ever really break down the moves but if you don't care how you look and are fine dancing freely in your living room then you can definitely work up a sweat regardless.
  • hi! i just added you! it's always great to have people to help along the way. you can do it! :]
  • i watched your videos on youtube. great job on your work so far!
  • I like using a big tumbler with a straw, before I know it it's empty and it's almost 24oz! I also drink a lot of crystal light but I never count that as water, just a treat in between drinks of water.
  • It is almost impossible to stay on a 1200 calorie diet and sustain it. Losing the 5 pounds that way is great but I'm sure that if you eat more calories you will be able to maintain that loss. I would guess that you are probably burning more than you think so that might be right around where your maintenance should be.…
  • Congratulations! i'm sure that you will reach your goal too and it will be something to celebrate. It is always hardest to get started and now that you've been doing it for 5 week i'm sure that you will be able to stick with it. Keep up the awesome work!
  • hi, i added you! i'm 22 and new to the site so friends are always fun! :]
