Thanks for all the lovely words ladies. I wasn't feeling down about feeling bigger, just needing to check I was on the right track. And I went for my DEXA today - results after 3 months; Body fat % DOWN from 20.8% to 19.4% Body fat mass DOWN 800g Lean muscle UP 500g Visceral fat DOWN from 13g to 0g! YES! Abdominal fat DOWN…

Upper body today - shoulders mainly, some chest and arm isolation. Got all my reps finally on OHP.... now I have to go up again :/ Feeling fatter lately.... reckon it's time to check in with a DEXA again. It has been about 4 months of increased cals and a solid program. Time to weigh in and make a plan. Will book an…

Does it make any difference how you do it?

Awww thanks everyone.... it's been a long journey but finally starting to see what I want :-) Dawn - that's a heck of a lot of steps! Good work Dna - weather is awesome here too :-) Did combat (new release) today. Was good. Having a celiac flare up though and otherwise feeling bloody awful. This afternoon my total step…

Jeepers I'm on a roll..... here is one last pic - me being 'skinny fat' about 4 years ago (with the youngest child)
-
I don't have too many 'fat pics' of me on my computer but here is one with my family about 9 years ago.... had another baby since
-
Ok, I dunno if this pic will work but here goes.... I am posting this because it makes me feel better about last years' shorts no longer fitting my much bigger butt :/ This is me yesterday

It's odd how many of us seem to be at a low point lately. Me included. Stay strong everyone... physically and mentally. Look after yourselves. Workouts are hard when there is a lack of enthusiasm/ motivation. I've found that by sticking to my workout plans however, that it can give me some feeling of control and strength…

Leg day for me today.... after a crazy hectic shift at work.... motivation was low but once I started, all good. Had pretty much 2 days off this weekend, just a walk yesterday. Seemed to have helped as all reps achieved and increased on 3 out of 4 exercises. Tired now though!

Good on you Dawn, hate the rain but sometimes it can be a blessing during an otherwise sweaty run! Rest day for me today - hurrah! I have lifted x 3 and combat x 2 already this week. This rarely happens before the weekend and my body is tired. I was concerned Thurs combat would affect my upper body lifts yesterday as was…

Wow Dawn!!! Dna - I have one 'fat pic' in my profile pics but not sure how to post still (I know.... epically useless!) No recent pics either.... prob have some fat to lose before I'd look any different tbh. Working lots but have done a workout every day this week. Nothing amazing, just working on form and 'showing up'.…

I'm here, sorry been quiet. Life is challenging at the moment. Still lifting, still getting my combat in. Today is DL day :)

I'm here, having a tough week with work and family stuff. Had already designated this as a deload week which has worked out well as have been exhausted and distracted. Mon/ Tues no workouts (but did 3 at the weekend), lifted yesterday which was a struggle. A walk and combat planned today though my ankle is giving me a bit…

OMG, I FINALLY GOT MY BENCH PRESS GOAL :D 40kg (88lbs). Still pathetic but hey, it has taken me 7 months!! This means I have added 20% to this lift in that time, so I'm pretty pleased about that. I am also now getting my previous 1 rep max at 3 sets of 5. I probably could have done it a while back but no spotter so always…

Do an assisted pull up with the resistance bands. If you have a bar for the rack, can you use that? How much does it weigh? Although barbell curls are not in the program are they? Handstand pushups?

Julie - well done, always good to ace the form Dna - feeling the <3 Dawn - I'm new to calf stuff too.... still working out the best way to train these. Everything seems awkward. Your DL of 205 is my max - well done, you're smashing it. Question re: leg press..... do you count the weight of the platform when you put in your…

So doing back & shoulders after combat 2 days in a row was interesting. Lifts actually not compromised but heck I had knots afterwards. Thankfully hubby managed to get the worst of them out :# Just in time for Sunday's leg day to bite.... ouchy! I was concentrating a lot on using my hamstrings with RDLs as have read this…

This is what I'm doing - covers both strength and hypertrophy and is varied enough to still be interesting http://www.aworkoutroutine.com/the-muscle-building-workout-routine/

There are a few things with this program that wouldn't work for me - first is the running. If you are going to drop the runs at the end of each workout you'll probably see results quite quickly. I dropped my cardio after my lifting this year and have seen definite muscle/ strength gain. I don't know the exact science…

Hurrah, awesome Dawn well done!

So I have totally kicked this virus' butt! Wooohooooo Combat done today..... hope to lift and combat tomorrow. Might make it, might not. Rang work to cancel my sick leave but they were quite happy for me to be home and 'recover'.... so I went shopping, bought myself a new sports bra and a t-shirt I've been after for a…

Hahaha, I had to google it too..... :D

Dawn I don't think it matters on the times per week. I do my workouts (A, B, C and D) in order, however many times a week I can fit it in. So sometimes 3, sometimes 4. So long as you stick to a plan you can achieve and enjoy, who cares? I am *kitten* this week - viral infection.... missed combat yesterday as could barely…

Love my callouses :)

While having a break sometimes helps to refresh the mindset, it won't improve your function in the lift. If you are keen to pursue it, you are better trying to work out what the issue is. Video your form and look at what you might be doing awkwardly or where the weak point is. Then you can start the path to correcting it.
-
dou - maybe you should video/ get advice on your form. Maybe you need to tweak something if you are feeling it in your back during the lifts. It's a hard move to get right. I was working on mine today - no back rounding, even at heavier weights than I have been doing (not max though). However, my hips were coming up first,…

Awesome! Who are you going as? Josiereside1 - best way is to just start in my opinion... you'll figure it out easier when you do it. I haven't been doing NROL for a while so can't remember the workouts off the top of my head but someone here should be able to help :) DL day for me today. Good job I still love 'em despite…

Ooh I like the weekly summary going on.... well done beeps and Julie. By Sunday it will be 3 x lift, 1 x HIITand 2-3 x combat for me. Hopefully only 2 x combat as I really should give my body another day off. Next week's schedule is a little crazy and will have to workout mon/tues/wed/thurs as my day off will need to be…

Good workout Julie - love good gym days. Dou - have your DLs ever hurt in the past? dna - hahahaha, poor bloke. I thought the same today though as I saw a crazed magpie attacking its reflection in the mirror of a parked car :D They are bloody weird creatures. I tried the new way of thinking with squats - was good with…

Combat and HIIT on the bike before 10am today. Have pretty much done nothing but eat since. Read an interesting article about squats and fixing it when your form is f***ed. Seems simple- essentially the point was that most things can be fixed if you think about your bum travelling towards your heels rather than out…
