Kimi - frost?? We hit 38 degrees C I think! Dawn - my body is cranky too lately, annoying!! Star Wars themed cake sounds fun though lol Today I did leg day. I was the only female in the weights area which was packed (20 dudes - I counted!). I was the only one working legs......shame my grip was *kitten* on DLs Anyways,…

My sodium intake ranges from 1300 - 5000+ I just looked at this in my diary settings as it is not a nutrient I pay any attention to. I'm celiac so I can hardly eat any processed foods and I rarely eat foods like crisps, crackers, pretzels etc. My large numbers come in when I eat Asian foods (which I make a lot) and use soy…

Get well soon - such things are awful. Big hugs to you Julie - loving the positivity :) Sam - "pleasantly sore" - love it :D Me? I'm just sore. Rest day it is. Well, work, but that's not a workout. Really I need a massage.

So some part of me decided that despite 2 workouts yesterday (on 2 hrs sleep), getting up at 5.30am to lift would be a good idea. Getting up (after 6 hours sleep) was ok, so got to the gym. Whereby my body totally refused to cooperate. Or more specifically, my shoulders, which though OHP was freakin' impossible and even my…

I'd forgotten about side planks! Have not done any ab focus work for a long time. I used to be able to do side planks with the top leg elevated..... bet I can't now lol. Finished night shifts this morning. 2 hours sleep, lifting (DL day) and a swim. Then shopping/ chores. Then picking the kids up and making dinner. Now I…

Sorry to go back to this but I am still not fixing my problem 100%. You mention tightness - what do you think is tight and what can I do about it? Thanks

Also, breastfeeding is unlikely to be as high as 400 kcal. I'm a midwife and my texts say 300 kcal with 100% breastfeeds :)

mmebouchon - so sorry to hear that :( But glad you have gotten back to lifting - sounds like you have an awesome plan to kick start 2016. I lifted (bench) and did combat this morning. Now ready for a nap. Which is good as I have night shift AGAIN tonight so could do with a sleep before I go in. Lets hope the family…

I recover so much better with splits. This allows me to progress quicker because I can lift heavier generally. If I do a lot of upper body, my elbow joints get tendonitis and my wrists are sore, limiting what I can actually do. Legs are not so bad, but the recovery time allows the DOMs to fade before the next workout lol.…

I'm supposed to be at the gym but my body says "f@*k that" this morning :/ I think I will have a date with my foam roller instead. Meh

My lifting workouts are usually 60 mins - slightly less some days, slightly more on others. I tend not to do cardio on these days, usually just combat (60 mins high impact/ mostly high intensity) on my non lifting days. Sometimes I add swimming, running or walking if I'm keen to keep body fat in check. Sometimes I add…

Wow, a lot of posts to catch up on! Welcome 7 year. Interesting re: the protein. How much were you eating? I only ask because in the past 3 months I have increased my protein (to 150-160g/ 35% macros) and lowered my carbs (40% macros) and I am much better on these ratios. So sorry to hear Manic - that's hideous. I hope…

That's a hefty upper body session Dawn - well done. Why are you reducing dairy? Sorry if I missed that explanation in a previous post.

Thanks Sue - the versa gripps look great - I will look for these here in Oz. Hope you are better now - what a horrid time of year to be sick :( Dou - bummer! Hope your back feels better soon. Seems like your body is making the most of the rest though - isn't it odd how sometimes reducing activity/ eating more helps us…

I am considering straps Dawn - also not sure how it'll go. What type to get? Will it help or just be another 'thing' to get right..... hmmmmm
-
Will do - thanks. Will let you know how I get on

Ok - I changed my set up. I think I have been confused previously by differing opinions on what my set up should look like. This feels a lot more like how I started (i.e. more natural). I think it does improve things but it's still not right with the mid back. See video here -…

All this talk of starting a plan, getting back to it..... I kinda have an idea of what I want to do but achievable? Not too sure. Currently I do 3 lifts, 2-3 cardio per week. If I want to build muscle, my next plan is to lift 4 times a week and cardio twice. Which is a big ask with my current workload/ family life.…

Sue - yes standard DLs. Beeps - my birthday and we also went to see Star Wars :D Kimi - great goal Chunky_pinup - welcome I weighed myself today (don't do this often!) - weight is down. Hurrah, another slice of birthday cake it is
-
Thanks - I will see what happens when I try changing this
-
Thanks all - very happy with the DL. Form would have been crap but the bar came up relatively easily after the first few inches. That was 1.8 x bodyweight..... inching nearer to the goal of 2 x :) I have been working/ eating/ working out. Pretty tired and though I haven't overdone it with the food, my body is not used to…

Ok think you will be able to see it here - http://1drv.ms/1PrWyqZ I think the rounding is particularly pronounced in this video - not always this bad!! But always that first rep is the worst
-
I am technically challenged - how can I upload a video from my iphone?
-
I have a question re: deadlifts please. I have been trying to work on my form over the past year after a trainer at the gym pointed out that I round my mid back with DLs. I videoed myself, and true enough, I do. My problem is that it only EVER happens on my first rep - all other reps in that set are fine. It is only the…

100kg (220lb) deadlift PR. That is all.

I'm here - night shift this week so have been antisocial - apologies. Stuck to my workouts - today (after only 1.5 hrs sleep) I did a 'whatever I fancy' workout. Did back squats for the first time in ages, then all my fave things from my current plan but lower weights and higher reps. Tired now = understatement. 59 mins…

Lifted and did combat today. Not bad for a day where my car told me it was 46 degrees (that's 115 F to you folks over the other side)
-
I had to laugh..... I conjured up the image of my hubby and I trying to fit in our tiny bath (in which I have my knees around my ears - and he's a foot taller than I am!) - can't think of anything less romantic :D Nice NSV tho! Great work mmebouchon - I don't work out late at night really. Sometimes I do combat at 7.30pm…

This is why I stopped doing SL. Couldn't progress. Now I just aim for "more than last time" on reps and/ or weight with my big lifts. Progression is essential for my motivation! Up early today - DL day. Form a bit crappy today - my body doesn't function well early in the morning lol. Upped leg press, upped calf raises. Got…

Haha yes Kimi - my butt was hurting yesterday but not as much as I thought it would! So hungover workout today after one glass too many last night and chocolate for dinner :/ My mindset was shocking but somehow my body performed! Got all my reps with OHP (5 x 3, was 2 x 3, 3 x 2 last time), all my reps with bench and upped…
