  • Leg day today - front squats up to 100lb for 3 x 6. Split lunges up also. Back to 132llbs for 3 x 10. Calf raises 4 x 10 @ 265lbs on the leg press. Then combat for the third day in a row, just because I could
  • Hey Steph, congrats - those are some good numbers you've got there. Kimi - try changing up your set up/ positioning. I used to row with the Olympic bar from a bench as my back hates the pick up from the ground and I lose any good form I would have had. Now my gym has better racks, I row from the support bars on those. I…
  • Combat today, shoulders are sore now. Could be interesting as have combat tomorrow night too - don't usually do it back to back but can't go any other day this week due to work shifts. Crappy bench session yesterday, elbow feeling a bit yuk. Rows were good though. That's about all. Still not 100% well so can't expect much…
  • Sorry to hear that dna - hope they feel better soon. Beeps - either put the scale away or monitor weight daily. And record it. Then you get to see an overall trend rather than daily fluctuations. My weight varies by up to 8lb depending on the time of the month and my intake! You can't trust each reading alone. Great job…
  • I did manage DL day today - increased reps too. Upped weight on single leg press and calf raises. Was pushed for time so only did 1 set of single leg DL - which worked well as legs were jelly and balance was shite, lol. Been out of the house 8.30am to 10pm today. And early shift tomorrow followed by Christmas party/…
  • Combat done. Over cals because I ate fudge. Long day. Hoping for a good night's sleep - supposed to be DL day tomorrow and I can't even imagine having the strength. Hoping too to receive Strong for Xmas/ Bday.
  • Yeah I recall being quite fed up realizing that as I lost weight I had to eat less! But then again, it was even harder to eat more once my energy expenditure increased and I wasn't getting enough fuel. Sure I lost weight but it became unhealthy. I'm now about 10lbs over my previous 'goal weight' but much healthier for it.…
  • Hey all just checking in. Dawn I hear ya - December has now arrived here in Australia. It's a miracle I remembered the advent calendars what with everything else that's happening. This week is chaos - working 6 days plus all the kids activities, Christmas shopping, sorting gifts for their teachers etc. Yesterday was no…
  • Ughhhh.... my reply was much longer than this - stupid phone.
  • I lift because I like the challenge. And I enjoy the results. My body has had such a transformation and I am proud of it. I would love to lift heavy but my 'genetics' don't really appreciate it too much. I injure quickly and my body seems to need a lot of persuasion to increase weights
  • Combat done.... short class so finished off with bike intervals. Night shift starts tonight..... rest of the week will be yuk
  • Got my leg day in - no max lifts today but steady work. Trying to increase reps with DLs.... meh. Single leg press - increased weight. No change with single leg DLs. Upped weight with calf raises. Came home to eat a protein bar after yesterday's macro fail. Looked in my diary - night shift this week and working 6 out of 7…
  • Combat today. Glad it was mostly upper body as hamstrings are killer today. Supposed to be DLs Monday.... not at this rate.....
  • That's funny the talk about the front squat - I was just discussing this the other day now that I've started them again. I do not like the cross arms version - the bar feels wobbly! My wrists can cope currently with the weight and since reading a few more articles on them I have managed to adjust the position so the bar…
  • Great job DouMc :D Can't believe I pulled up ok today after double combat yesterday... so squat day it was. All good. Love it when my body feels energised :-)
  • I did 2 combat classes today, smashed it. Tomorrow, I expect to hurt LOL
  • I'm pretty good at sticking to a program, but sometimes it goes the other way.... I can be so good at sticking to 'what the book says' that I fail to see it doesn't work for my body. It is important to stick to a consistent theme, but to review it after a period of time and tweak as required. IMO. WOW Dawn!!
  • Good to see some familiar faces back on this thread :-) Didn't lift all weekend as was away and no gym..... smashed it this morning though with PR deadlift. Got 95kg (210lbs) which, considering I've been training at only around 60-70% of that for the past 6 months is quite pleasing. My form was shocking I expect but it…
  • Thanks beeps but it is quad activation I'm after more so than glutes. My issues are all at the front, not the back :# Not as sore as I expected after yesterdays lifts, which is good. Although my chest is feeling it a bit, making deep breathing rather challenging. Could be interesting at combat tonight!!
  • I have not got the new book yet - it's on my Christmas list. Look forward to seeing the pics Dawn. I have lifted twice this week - have changed up my workout a bit. Realised some moves have not progressed all year so have totally removed them or changed them to allow for progress. First up, squats. Now a front squat. And…
  • Not been posting much - mostly as I have nothing to post about, lol. Have been working out, but nothing special. Today I am going to attempt front squats for the first time since I did NROL, which seems like years! Could be interesting as have totally forgotten how to do it. Also going to switch leg press to single leg, as…
  • Love this. Ok, November is here and I am back on the bandwagon after my week off. I thought I'd feel like I have loads of energy but that is not the case - maybe due to work shifts? I dunno. Anyway, my mission now is "abs for xmas!". I have no idea if that is possible, but I am going to make a concerted effort to actually…
  • Hey all, so my semi rest week last week did not help me feel any better. Been tired, stressed and demotivated. This week I would struggle to get to the gym much with my shifts so I am also taking a break from lifting (heavy anyway). I have done one day of high reps, low weight and have my usual combat classes pencilled in.…
  • Well done Dawn! Congrats xxxxxxx
  • This is all good. I lifted yesterday - all good. Day off today as too much else on. Aiming for leg day early tomorrow.
  • For me the article makes a lot of sense in some ways. My max bench is only a few kg more than my 5 reps. Ditto all my upper body stuff really. And I am frequently stalled by the 5th or 6th rep in my set, preventing me from increasing as per my current plan. Triples seem much more achievable and can envisage more rapid…
  • Dou - I record all my workouts - do you keep a training diary? They are useful for this exact reason - see how far you've come or when to change things up! Dawn - weird rules.... no swearing? I'd be out at that point, lol. I have found my new gym also hard to get to know - new equipment etc. I still haven't cancelled my…
  • Loving all the wins ladies - it really is amazing how far we have all come. My win today - struggling through combat (hungover) only to have the instructor ask me if I taught classes, because she and another instructor had seen a pic of me doing a jump kick and concluded that I must teach also. Haha love it. No way do I…
  • My sleep has sucked too - change in weather, daylight savings and too many early shifts has meant awake at 12am, 3am and 5am all week. Ugh. I'm on days off.... just one good night is all I ask for!! Dna - you need to work that *kitten* out - the bedroom is NOT a study.
  • Got up early to lift. Was ok but I tweaked my back yesterday in combat so left the rows out today. Bench weight was good and improved but felt yukky - think the back was distracting me. Home to get breakfast only to discover my husband put sunflower seeds in the porridge (my slow cooker GF recipe) instead of buckwheat.…
