  • This is an amazing thread .... I am struggling with this myself. Have been wondering if there is an AA for food?! Finally thought I was 'back in the groove' .... logged everything last week and lost weight. However, this week finds me sneaking around, making trips to the grocery store so I can buy a treat and eat it before…
  • Thanks for this thread ..... thought it was just me!! I AM there right now ..... came home yesterday and started with all the RIGHT snacks.... then deteriorated from there. Woke up this am doubly frustrated, as weekly weigh in day and down 0.5, but had been heading so in the right direction, and earlier in the week had…
  • Another 0.5, not much, but a loss is a loss!
  • Reporting in ... loss of 0.3 ... not much, but a loss is a loss!
  • Hello Barbie, et al ... I am just 'dropping back in'. Find it hard to keep up with all you movers and shakers out there, daily posts and all. But when I do 'come back', feels very homey - thanks. The back to school really makes me a bit sad .... kids all grown, and my career path is not in a school any more ... however, it…
  • I too have been 'stuck', for 3 weeks..... however while the scale has not moved, my measurements have. So if you have not done so .... measure! And try on an older pair of 'skinny' jeans .... you know the ones we keep in the back of the closet knowing that one day we will fit back into them? I tried on a pair last week,…
  • Yes I do .... now. Never wore one as a child, nore when my kids were small..... not sure how I managed to set a good example there, fortunately they never asked - LOL?? It is the law in our province, and I grew up on country roads, so never really thought they were necessary, and seemed restrictive. However, now I ride…
  • Hello all, hope it's not too late to join ..... love the many comments about cycling and how noncompetitive this site is..... you are all very encouraging about going your own speed. Love the story about passing the rock ..... I too have my own story. I am an ex-runner, that had knee(s) blow out, and had surgery on one…
  • Was soooo hot today, just had to have a small McFlurry ... did enjoy it though, and already have my bike out to ride tomorrow - lol!
  • Celebrate your loss - take a new photo in your skinny clothes and post it on the fridge with one of your old photos .... you will learn that you do look better and begin to realize even though the clothes seem tighter, that you ARE smaller!:flowerforyou:
  • "The miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start." John Bingham This too is my favourite quote ... and it means even more now that I can no longer be a runner (like John Binham - the Penguin), but due to knee surgery I had to embrace a new sport ..... I am now cycling and today I bought my…
  • WOW, you go girl! :flowerforyou: I too try to pre-log my food and/or record it as I am eating it - now that I have the mfp app on my phone. Great addition. Love your positiveness too ... think that is just the kick in the pants I need for my cycle tomorrow. Has been a particularily 'trying' week as I had some dental…
  • By how I feel, more energy and now that I sleep better and don't seem to have that afternoon 'crash' anymore. The compliments from my husband and co-workers are great too. And I agree with most of the above, you need to give yourself a break  ... don't fall into the guilty pattern. It could be more destructive than…
  • Had knee surgery last year, so no running allowed .... but I am now cycling. Will get my long ride in tomorrow and think of your pet Andy, will also ponder the loss of my dog, Thunder, last Remembrance Day. Thanks for the virtual pet remembrance. :flowerforyou:
  • Bump! Just back from vacation, where my goal was to ride every day ... which I did! Will need to calculate what I've done so far - I did write it down as I am 'training' for a 76km charity ride in Sept. Also using this as a way to manage post knee surgery from last year. No more running .... so cycle it is.
  • Very realistic ... I like that :flowerforyou: Please count me in. SW 205 GW 172 Fitness goal is to exercise min 4 times per week, including cycling. Also, once Fall comes ... need to think about getting back in the pool.
  • Bump! Until I have more time to read :)
  • Yes, feel the need for motivation too..... heading for the family vacation soon, and want this to be one holiday I DO NOT gain weight on. I too am trying to become a crazy exercise person again, after knee surgery last year, now getting into cycling ... I used to be a runner. And your 2 miles is GREAT!!!! :flowerforyou:…
  • I joined mfp just after my 51st birthday. I too had done the WW thing, and had lost ... only to regain, as I waited for 18 months for knee surgery. As I healed last fall, tried WW again, with very little success. The new points system with free fruits and veggies didn't seem to work for me, yet did make me aware of…
  • Wow! Pretty big goal .... but you have youth on your side! Good luck, but don't be discouraged if you don't 'make' it..... make sure to measure too - those numbers may be huge enough.
  • Congrats, any loss, big or small is something to cheer about!:flowerforyou:
  • Bump .... going to hang onto this just for the re-read that it deserves and for future discoveries about my eating. Thanks for sharing:flowerforyou:
  • Awesome!!! You must really feel it in your joints and the way you can move  And ditto most other comments ... looks like more than 40! Good luck, and enjoy your success - pedicure for summer to go with the bikini??:flowerforyou:
  • A Latecomer, and a newbie to routine cycling, as I used to be a runner, but alas knee surgery and run no more .... but I need to increase the 'miles' - kilometres actually ... as a Canadian, since I plan to ride 76km inSeptember. so ... June 4 - stationary bike - 5kms ( 1km = 0.621371192 miles) = 3.1 miles June 9 - 'long'…
  • Just want to thank Barbie, for all her posts and encouragement:flowerforyou: to us all ... as well as to the other 'regulars' I notice signing in. It is very insiring to us 'newbies' - I have only been here 4 months, and I am not a daily reader ... though trying harder to be ..... but really feels like 'home'. so to those…
  • June 1 - took a rest day as I had cycled 20.4 kms that day before ... June 2 - nothing June 3 - nothing .... starting to look like a bad pattern!!! June 4 - FINALLY got off my ....... 45mins Moderate Stationary Bike/15 elliptical/10 cool down stationary bike REALLY going to need to stick to this if I plan to make it .....…
  • Yup ... think this is prob true, at least for me. The last time I went onto WW - was with their new points plus ... and all fruits and vegies were 0 points and 'free' ... I think I prob over did it - yes I know moderation is key - however I could not lose weight like I had on WW a few years earlier, hence I found and…
  • Beautiful British Columbia! Born and raised in Vancouver, then the Okanagan ... now live in Quesnel - Central BC.
  • It's on my 'bucket' list ... tried to do it my first year of university, but I wasn't of legal age, and parents wouldn't sign. The following year I had an injury ... then never got around to it! Presently I still want to try, but realized last year to do a tandem, I'd need to lose weight ... so here I am. Actually at a…
