Greek yog Cottage cheese I pretty much sub Greek yog for anything that has mayo in it. I've even made potato salad dressed with olive oil, Greek yog and just enough mayo that my family thinks it's normal potato salad.

Most def the stress on your body. Even having a mild cold will spike me. The first week after I had surgery I didn't even test since I knew no matter what it was going to be bad and there was nothing I could do. Since they cut me open I wasn't exactly going to be walking around to lower my BG. I hope you are feeling better…

Even though she said to test morning and night I would do some testing during the day. I'm pretty standard with my peak usually being 2 hrs after I start eating but I figured that out by testing at 1 hr, 2 and 3. Post prandial readings can be very different than you would think depending what your body is doing. Some…

Welcome Dan, No, none of us are guilty of knowing what to do and not doing it! Must just be you. I sort of wish I had done a baseline of my regular eating habits. I have been trying to find my maintenance level of intake and outgo and still am not sure what it is. Since I am metabolically challenged I don't think the…

I'm glad you are feeling better. High blood glucose will cause the tired fuzzy feeling so you are already moving in the right direction if that is gone.

Thank you. It was weight day anyway.

I've never had ibuprofen do that to me but I wonder if whatever caused you to take it is the culprit. If you were sick or in pain that can cause BG to rise.

I am very small and my BMR is 1260. I have had days that to net BMR I have to eat about 2000 cals. I eat a moderate carb diet so this is pretty tough. I also eat a fairly clean diet. Healthy ways to up your cals are generally high fat ones, avocado, olive or nut oils, nut butter, and nuts. One way I have found to up my…

46 yo 4'10.5" 125 or so size 1,2,3,4 it really depends, generally I'm about a 3 right now but a lot of them can come off without unzipping yet the 1 and 2s aren't quit right yet. I have very small hips but carry my fat in my tummy.

Water is probably a good idea since you didn't drink all night. The rest is up to you. I tend to eat a piece of toast with pb or cheese or egg. I am hungry when I wake up and I'm diabetic so it messes with my BG when I don't eat. I'm actually jealous of people who don't really eat until lunch. They have less time to…

I like the full fat greek plain. Since I'm diabetic I put splenda or sugar free syrup or SF Toranis in to sweeten. In the winter I put frozen berries in and stir it up a bunch. It gets kind of freezy like ice cream. I put any kind of fruit I have in. I use it as a dip or dressing by throwing in whatever herbs sound good,…

I would think soaking in borax water or baking soda water would help. I've used both in the diaper pail and it helps.

Hi Ebony, It sounds like you are making great progress. I'm glad you found us. This is a very supportive group. MFP is a great tool to analyze your eating habits. I have found it very helpful to figure out why I will have changes in my BG and whether they are food or exercise related. Understanding what your body is doing…

I have a True Result. So far at my pharmacy this is the cheapest for strips. I pay $28 for 100 but usually they have a coupon in the box for $8. I was also able to get these through my insurance but they only cover 100 every 3 months and I usually test 4 or 5 times a day. So i get what I can from my insurance and buy the…

Woohoo Maury, great job!

Welcome crowntech, it sounds like you are doing really well. It can be difficult to lose weight as a diabetic. I have seen some studies that say that it isn't our imagination but with metabolic issues we really do have a harder time. I know it can be discouraging. Just like with the BG part of diabetes I think we have to…

Here is a nice supportive T2 group on MFP http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/1789-type-2-diabetes-support-group I am sorry your mother has T2 but it is good that she has found out and is getting it under control. Some damage can be reversed after a few years. I had signs of deterioration in my eyes and after a few…

Morning has always been some of my worse times. For some people, it is caused by having a big drop in BG caused by not eating all night. Then your liver tries to compensate by doing a glucose dump. Your liver stores glucose for just such emergencies. It helps to eat a snack at bedtime. For many half a sandwich is good…

I also don't have sleep apnea. i agree that poor sleep can greatly impact your BG since stress will cause it to spike. Also, many people get dawn phenomenon and either spike because of a night time crash or spike in preparation for waking up. Many T2s are overweight and many overweight people have apnea. Since I am within…

Really, I have never heard of a 1.5 getting off insulin since in reality a 1.5 is a slow 1. T1s are just insulin dependent and 1.5's ultimately are. Please make sure you continue to check your BG since 1.5 includes pancreas failure. It just happens slower than for T1s. In fact, most 1.5s I have known find that as they get…

You can look at my diary and see what I eat. I'm pretty boring though and eat a lot of the same things. This is just how I eat most of the summer, grilled veg, grilled meat and a bit of starch. Lately, most of my carbs come from fruit. In the winter I do a lot of the same with winter veggies, less fruit. Sigh, I'm boring.…

Barbara, diabetes doesn't give awards for being compliant. You can be the most compliant person and still have it get worse. Heck, I usually run about 20 miles a week and they just upped my meds. Have you seen a dietician? You should show her/him what you are eating and see if there are any changes you need to make. Other…

Welcome Joyce, Wow, Italy sounds beautiful. I have never really traveled much and doubt I will ever see Europe. I live in a climate that is pretty dreary much of the year and it does make it pretty easy to eat creamy rich foods. I eat a lot more frozen veggies during that time even though they aren't as good as fresh. I…

Buy the 10 regulars that fit fine. Hemming is very easy. If you don't know someone who can sew for you check with dry cleaners, they often can do or have someone who does alterations. Since it is just a hem it will be cheap and quick. I have seen a lot of home seamstresses charge $3-$8 per pair depending on where you are…

It is well worth doing. It doesn't change the shape of your muscles but depending on the type it can firm you like any other muscle exercise. The increase in flexibility and balance will probably help prevent injuries when doing other things. I usually do hatha or vinyasa flow. I find both very soothing mentally and it…

Great job! It is easy to get off track, especially when you have other stuff going on. Glad you were able to get back on board and get your BG under control.

I would ask the nurse for a meter. Often, you can get a starter pack with some strips, lancets, lancing device and meter for free from the dr. You can also purchase them at pharmacies without a prescription although you will probably need one if your insurance is paying. Some insurance, it will fall under durable medical…

The yoga poses are a great way to learn yoga. The balance exercises are fun. The strength ones can help you with form. I think it is a great way to exercise since it is fun and encouraging. You may find you eventually outgrow it. When I started using it I was recovering from surgery and could only move so much. As my…

Good for you. You will continue to feel better over the next several weeks to months as your lungs clear up. Remember how good you feel right now so if you are tempted to smoke you realize you will lose this feeling. I started smoking when I was 12 and while I quit a few times over the years I pretty much have smoked my…

Due to an injury I didn't work out last week so I lowered my cals. I didn't notice it since without such high cal burns I had no problem limiting my eating. I usually am more hungry the day after a big burn than the day of so don't get stressed if the first day of cutting back exercise you are still hungry, just eat enough…
