I use a TruTest. Cheapest strips I have found. My old pharmacy gave it to me free when I bought 100 strips for just under $30. I just had to use a new pharmacy to buy strips and it was more like $60 for 100. Still cheaper than a lot of other ones. This one has been holding up for about 2 or more years. My daughter bought…

Today was a low key day so I only walked 2 miles.
-
5.16 miles running this morning.
-
Read a chapter in a tax accounting textbook while walking on my treadmill. Reviewed a chapter too. Also read a few chapters of a novel. Multi-tasking is great. Managed 6.5 miles of walking today.
-
Bit of a run and a bit of a walk. Added 6.65 miles.

I tend to not label food as good or bad but am always looking for ways to shave cals. The other day I made "fried" fish. It would probably work with chicken too. I just coated the filet with a bit of dijon mustard and coated with panko bread crumbs. Then I pan fried in a teaspoon of olive oil. It tasted as good, or maybe…

Walked 2 miles, ran 5. I'll probably get a few more miles of walking in since I have a whole chapter to read in a textbook and I walk on my treadmill while I study. [/url]

Count me in. January goal is 70 miles of running and walking. Did 5.25 this morning.

Sorry I haven't been around much and didn't notice this til now. I would get a new monitor. Anymore, most a pretty cheap because they make money selling you the strips. It is very possible you can find one that uses the strips you have. I use TrueResult, I think I got it free for buying a bottle of strips which are about…

I am so sorry this has happened. While I am a step-parent, my step-kids and my own kids were all old enough they knew their step-parent was not their bio. My suggestion is you seek out a counselor, particularly one who has experience with step or adoption situations. I have a friend who chose this field since she had…

Start slowly and get properly fitted shoes. Shoes make a huge different. I have bad joints and super flat feet. I had my shoes fitted at a running store and things hurt a lot less.

I find it awkward to squat with dumbbells at anything that resembled the proper weight. Can you find a gym with free weights? You really need to have a squat rack. I'm currently on a break from SL because I can't join a gym at the moment. Hopefully next month that will be an option since I was up to squatting and…

15 year T2. Carb reduction is the answer. What does that really mean? It varies from person to person. There are boards here for pcos and diabetes. Here are some other good resources: Learn to eat to your meter on bloodsugar101.com There is a lot of great info here. TuDiabetes.com also has a lot of info and a very…

I was a little intimidated in starting a lifting program. I found SL to be less confusing and time efficient. The only reason I stopped was life caused changes that included having to drop gym membership which means no weights and rack. I can't wait to be able to get back to the gym and start the program again. At some…

You look wonderful. I think boobs are just what they are and everyone's does something different. One of my daughters is rather large chested and she is really skinny. I know a lady who finally got hers reduced because she lost all her weight and became really fit and they were so big they hurt. It seems that some people…

I started lifting heavy about a month ago. Before that I did lots of cardio and some body weight stuff. In the first 2 weeks I lost an inch off my waist and tummy although it appears I have gained a couple of pounds. I haven't measured anything else since this is my problem spot and the only part of my body I want to get…

Go se a dr. It does sound like rotator cuff and it is horrible. After about 6 months of screaming pain I went to a dr. I didn't have insurance so had put it off. They did an MRI and found it was seriously degenerated and gave me some pt exercises and ibuprofen 800s. I pretty much have my range of motion back but it will…

Until you can see a dr. see if you can find a shoe store that can fit you properly. I went to a store that filmed me running on a treadmill then they determined what type of shoe would work for me. I have flat feet and was having severe knee and hip pain from running. I was ready to give up running and figured this was my…

I sometimes think I'm going to do a face plant. I do one minute sprints and 1-2 minutes walking. My goal is to quit breathing really hard during my walk phase. I'm currently at 10 mph and 3.5 mph on 0 incline. I try to find the point where I think I'm going to die by the time I get to the end of my minute then walk long…

I had babysitting/fast food/cashier/waitress jobs in high school. My first real job was at 17, I became a file clerk and worked my way up in the admin world. I guess in a way you could say I still do office work so I'm still in the same field. At 47 I'm also a senior getting my accounting degree and currently work…

I agree, Go to a running specialty store. I paid $120 for my shoes but they solved all sorts of pain and joint problems I was having. I have bad joints, flat feet, and had a stress fracture in one hip so running can really hurt. Getting proper shoes worked wonders. Even for walking shoes you should get fitted. I had…

If you are weighing and measuring your food so your cal count is pretty accurate I would actually be concerned that there is something else going on. Maybe have your thyroid checked? I'm 4'10" and usually eat about 1600 to 1700 gross cals per day. I run about 20 miles per week and do body weight stuff. Granted, this ends…
-
Make sure you at least net your BMR. I shoot for 1600 cals per day but I usually have a couple of high burn days where I'll burn 600 cals. When I do that I eat a little more.

I snack all the time. fruit, nuts, veggies with dip or hummus, a couple of wasa crackers with pb, cheese or nuts. I generally eat about 4 snacks a day. I'm one of those people who has to eat almost constantly or I'm hungry. It is all in the planning. I find that I often make poor choices if I'm running around and suddenly…

Not a weight loss one but still really bad advice. Someone told my husband I could cure my T2 diabetes by having a coffee enema every day. While I love coffee I don't think there is anything I love enough to do that with it. Now I'm going to go toast a danish and break it in half so it has more fiber and no calories.

I try to eat when I'm hungry. I'm very short and I'm old and not very active during the day since I push a desk. I get up at 5:00 and eat toast and cheese along with coffee while I'm on the way to the gym. I get there about 6 (I have a 20 min drive). I run or do whatever for an hour. I get to work about 8. I eat a banana.…

I believe as long as you stay in your cal limits and you are eating nutritious foods it doesn't matter when you eat, how much you eat at one time or how often you eat. find what works for you. I'm diabetic so I have to eat often. I personally eat about 6 times a day. Breakfast at 5am is usually toast and cheese with my…

I'm 47 and have worn a bra much of my life. I nursed 2 babies. I don't consider myself very large, 34C so there is enough there to sag. In my opinion how likely you are to sag has a lot to do with genetics. All the women in my family have pretty densely muscled breasts. We don't really sag even on into our 60s and 70s. We…

Hyperthyroid means you are making too much. People who have it tend to be thin. The dr. told me that it also will cause you to age faster and can ultimately wear on your organs so heart attacks are common. Anymore, the cure is removal of part or all of the thyroid gland. If the gland is removed then you need to take pills…

It sounds like cooking may not be what you want to do at that point. I would go with hard boiling several eggs at another time and keeping them in the fridge. An ounce of cheese or some cottage would also be quick and easy. Piece of fruit, cup of yogurt, toast with low cal cream cheese or jam. Even a handful of nuts would…
