I used to lose 5 pounds a week all the time. It's totally doable. Of course, I was doing chemotherapy, had multiple surgeries, and was living on Boost. YMMV. LOL.

I get stuck on " zero impact" restrictions every so often. My advice would be, if that is what your doc tells you, look up "seated exercise" online- youtube, Sparkpeople, etc. I have found a wealth of seated exercise to keep me going in those cases. Most recent being an incisional hernia in my midline abs and this fall, a…

One of my best purchases. It is the price that it is. You can buy it on ebay, but it's probably an illegal copy. Maybe Craigslist, if there is someone who wants to get rid of theirs. But not too many people want to dump this set, lol!

Hopefully you are feeling better by now! My viral thing came on like a bus, the fever lasted 2+ days, but then dissipated quickly. But the morning it came on, well...I had done the toughest workout from Kettlebell Kickboxing Scorcher Series the night before, and I had a hard time figuring out just what I was hurting from!…

This right here is why we need a "like" button more than the stupid flag...

Monday, Monday...I am up but moving slow, having some oats, chia, blueberries, watermelon, and a small orange for breakfast. I came down with some ridiculous illness yesterday, we can only guess influenza A since it hit like a train...but I think I feel too much better today for it to be influenza. The flu shot is a known…

Hey all....we had a baby shower today for one of my stepdaughters. Tried to do lots of healthy eats, including a raw veggie "pizza", cut up raw veggies and a spinach dip, hummus, whole grain chips (better than white bread I guess!), cut up mixed fruit. Cheese and sausage- a small tray, too...but I stayed out of that! We…

WOW! 42 new posts to read this morning! I have gotten behind...Too many to address individually, but I hope the injured among you are feeling better, and Mihani, I think lia is on to something with the intervention ;-) I can understand waiting til things calm down, but your work never seems to calm down, lol! Welcome to…

Right? Your day will go easier if you don't try to put thoughts into other people's heads. Sometimes chit chat is just...chit chat. And like in the gym, most people are thinking about their own stuff.

"Turtle bean" is another name for black beans...kind of like garbanzo beans also being called chickpeas. Nothing at all to do with caramel and nuts...which is sad.

Definitely Leslie, but also look up Jessica on youtube, lots of free workouts of various types.

If you want to try it with the challenge pack why not? At least it will speak to your curiosity. I used it a number of years ago- the original chocolate, as a breakfast or as a snack. I did find it helped with cravings. I was a coach at the time, and also a registered dietitian, so I guess I knew something about my food,…

I have done Insanity I guess three times now...My advice would be to use floor mats, either get some of the puzzle piece ones and tape them together solidly, or at a minimum use a jump mat. The puzzle pieces made a big difference for me, just with the repetitive impact. Also...good shoes (I know there are some folks out…

Yes and no. Yes to the source vs color...darker is generally from further up the GI tract, however, just because blood is bright and fresh does not mean there is no reason to worry. My GI bleeding was bright red, and it turned out to be the result of a stage 3 rectal tumor. Found on colonoscopy, but close enough to the…

Alison...I did FOLFOX which seems to be your 2nd option...I went in, part of the dosing was done in oncology, then wore the pump home for 48 hours. A friend did the other option. We both handled it "well", although I ended up doing 8 of the 12 treatments, stopping early because the peripheral neuropathy got too bad. I…

There is plenty "Holier than Thou" preaching that comes from carnivores, as well. Just an observation from this omnivore with a vegetarian leaning.

This, although I did use to like "real" milk...I just find myself not wanting to drink it anymore...have gone through this before. My hubby loves almond milk now, too, for mixing his smoothies. I like it for smoothies, overnight oats, with cereal. We usually buy unsweetened, plain or vanilla. Sometimes chocolate, for a…

I also prefer Moving Comfort. Wear well, hold up (haha), and last.

Do them on gradually decreasing inclines as described above, til you get to the floor. Or, get on the floor and make your range of motion smaller. In any event, get on your toes. Knee push ups don't really train real push ups...I didn't get better at real push ups til...I started doing them. Good luck!

Merrell is my favorite. I have them with and without Goretex, love them.

My inability to move weight and extreme fatigue has turned out to be a pretty much dead thyroid. If you know you're tracking is correct, numbers are right, and nothing is changing, I would see a doc to check for this sort of thing. As I get more correct in my levels, the weight is starting to move.

Hair loss can result from both hyper and hypo thyroid. The levothyroxine doesn't cause hair loss, hair loss my be a symptom that the med is not correctly balanced as the system is hyper or hypo. I had a ton of hair falling out, it was what finally caused my doc to test me, in addition to being unable to move a pound. Now…

Agreed. Jeez. Cutting a lunch by 50% or more is a good first step. Completely uncalled for and rude.

Check out Sparkpeople.com for seated exercise. Also, as mentioned above, youtube has a ton of seated exercise videos. As for swimming, the aquajogger in shallow water may be an option if you can't swim. My Y has two pools with the one being a therapy pool that isn't too deep...even treading water in a few feet of water…

Look up seated exercise on youtube and sparkpeople.com. i have uses loas of these videos...i break a lot...MANY abdominal surgeries, current tibial stress fracture. That said, use caution with your deficit...currently nutrients are needed for healing. I would eat at maintenance or a cautious deficit. I am notorious for…

I like to make "chicken salad" using chickpeas rather than chicken...just mash them slightly. I usually use plain greek yogurt rather than mayo. Dice in some peppers or carrots or celery or apple or...or or or....whatever you like. Maybe a dollop of grainy mustard. Stuff it into a pita or on crackers. Yum.

I used Ensure and Boost when I was doing chemo. In dark chocolate flavor, at room temp (swallowing anything cold was like swallowing broken glass). It was good for its purpose. Yes you can make your own smoothies but things like Ensure are convenient, that is for sure. And portable, which is nice. And for someone in your…

From a fitness perspective...there are loads of seated exercises available out there. Just google "seated exercise" and start looking. For whatever reason- weight, injury, etc, that people are unable to stand to exercise-there are seated workouts. During a time of surgical recovery where I was not allowed to exercise…

Just slightly faster than the other guy the bear is chasing ;-) Anyway. Depends...inside, outside, etc. I tend to be faster outside, and have to work to keep my pace slower. I finished C25K a week or two ago and am moving on to 10K. Pace from 10:30 to 9 per mile, got into the 8's when I was doing an event. Not a great…

Hmmm, as I have been having my oatmeal with blueberries and chia, and a hard boiled egg on the side, I think I may now have to try this. Thanks for the directions!
