  • Use a HRM, your burns are going to vary.
  • I didn't use a mat, had carpet! I also used my bf's round weights like for his bar, using 2.5 and it is PLENTY. No you can't use a resistance band. Maybe big cans of soup or something?
  • WOW!! Totally see a HUGE difference! You are such a cute little skinny minnie now!! Congrats! Keep up the fantastic work!!:drinker:
  • You ma'am, - to put it politely- are absolutely full of IT. It is a well known fact that you CANNOT spot reduce. Yes the body will burn either fat or muscle if you aren't using your muscle enough, but the idea of "which ever is closer to the area" is abolutely bologna. People carry weight differently, and your genetics…

  • You are supposed to limit ADDED sugars, as in, refined ones in processed foods. This is very misleading on MFP because it counts all sugars, including those in natural non-added sources like fruits, vegetables, and milk. It's really not that hard to keep it that low once you know that and you are eating healthy.…

  • Sugars won't matter as far as weight loss (although they are important to keep track of for health reasons). What is more important that your goal is set properly. Since you are so small and don't have much to lose, you aren't going to have much wiggle room. Eating 1200-1400 calories is a BIG swing (200 cals, or 17% intake…

  • This is absolutely not true, although a common misconception.
  • ^THIS. Average estimators are WAY off. Good HRMs aren't that expensive. I got my Polar FT4 at bodytronics.com for $62. Best $62 I ever spent.
  • Although that may be true dear, if you have an eating disorder honestly your judgement can't really be trusted about the state of your body. :frown:
  • If you don't want your goal to be so low because it isn't attainable(for you), DON'T tell mfp you want to lose 1.5-2 lbs a week.:noway: Problem solved. Or, you could just exercise your butt off so that you have some exercise cals to eat and your overall intake it higher. But it's all in what is attainable for you.
  • The arguement for replacing them is to be HEALTHY. not necessarily for weight loss.
  • Hair is actually a good indicator of overall health. Yes deep stages of eating disorders can lead to hair loss (on your head). This is because your body gives up on what it deems as not life-supporting activities and just spends all its energy on trying to survive and keep your bodily organs functioning. Oddly enough at…
  • It's kind of like saying: "even though we are married we don't need to have sex because holding hands should be enough."
  • But...then why do you have MFP friends?
  • If they are my friend, I tell them I don't like it because I can't keep them accountable for being healthy if I can't see what they are eating or how far under they ate (alot of people with ED's on here and I DON'T want to encourage that). And I'm not going to go around calling people out on what they ate, unless we are…
  • Yeah, caught that. See my edit.
  • If you are interested: you can make your own entry that has 0 cals and negative units of sugar, and then at the end of the day count up all your sources of non-added sugars (apples, milk, strawberries, etc) and force add them in to see your true added sugar count for the day.
  • Yeah it would be logistically very difficult. You would have beginners sorely confused either way.:ohwell:
  • You should really only limit ADDED (refined, like in processed foods) sugars, not non-added ones in fruits and natural things like milk. Read the nutrition label: if it says sugar (or high fructose corn syrup, sucrose, etc etc) then it goes towards your limit. If not, ignore it. If you are eating fruits and berries you are…
  • This may be accurate, but it doesn't make sense to me from a scientific standpoint (no, I ddin't watch the film). Is it implying that your BMR stays low after you lose alot of weight as compared to someone who stayed thin? I don't know how credible this is....maybe the idea is that people who are thin naturally have a…
  • Iron is the tough one for me since I don't buy red meat as much because of its expense. But spinach is supposed to help (yucky!) as well as sun dried tomatoes. If you like cereal, check out Special K's Protein Plus cereal: one 3/4 c, 100 cal serving has 45% your daily iron. AND 10 gs protein. I never have a hard…
  • They don't HAVE to change anything. I was just SUGGESTING that they do because I find it misleading: plenty of people walk at 3 mph WITHOUT a dog, and plenty of people who DO walk dogs don't do it at 3 mph. I just find it an odd/misleading title. HOLY crap I had no idea people were so sensitive about it. IT'S JUST A NAME.…
  • Uhm, they can just post their walking pace...whatever that pace may be (which may or may not be 3 mph, as other people have verified).
  • [/quote] HEY. SMART ALEC. WE ARE ON THE WEBSITE SUGGESTIONS/FEEDBACK SECTION. I would like something changed because I am a user. THAT IS WHAT THE FEEDBACK SECTION IS FOR. You don't need to take it personally and get butt hurt over it.:noway:
  • I am aware that you can create your own exercise. But I prefer to use the standard ones in the database that are supposed to be fairly generic. Those ones are not user created, they are standard issue by MFP. That is why I want it changed.
  • Well I think #1 is the most important. People need to realize that it's about how much work they will put in, but also MFP does make the trip ALOT easier. MFP works best for diligent people who can hold themselves accountable, although the community is great too. Some people need things like Weight Watchers meetings to…
  • Whoop whoop!! Nice going lady! You are WELL on your way! I hope you are very proud of your progress! Keep it going!! :drinker:
