Yes, but it takes A LONG TIME to build muscle. I don't know if it is possible to put on a pound of muscle in a week. That's odd. If you have a good quality HRM I would trust it. But make sure it has your correct weight. If you have lost alot since you set it the first time you may be confusing it. Good luck!

You are eating too much if you really aren't losing lbs in "weeks." It's not about patience at that point, it's that something isn't working. Drop your daily caloric intake by like 250 cals. Re assess in a week or two and drop again if necessary.

You set your deficit from your TDEE, NOT your BMR. Which is probably you couldn't (and shouldn't) have reached it. Sound like you have figured it out on your own through trial and error though. Do the best you can do, but aim high also. :)
