YOU GO GIRL!! YOU LOOK FABULOUS!!!

It's my personal goal to not eat any sweets unless it is for a REAL special/celebratory occasion. 3/14 NOT a real celebration, it is AN EXCUSE to be unhealthy as far as I am concerned. Jeez, we "celebrate" anything and everything in this country with fattening things and then WONDER WHY WE ARE ALL OBESE.

That is GREAT. I am EXACTLY like you and usually get people into a hissy fit by saying something is "wrong." Lol Interestingly, I think the "Is is Necessary?" can frequently cancel out the "Is it Kind?", based on your relationship with the person. I am going to use that advise too, thanks a ton for passing it on! And I'll…

DON'T DO IT. :) Keep it up! I HATE it when people bring in treats at work!
-
My basketball coach always said "look good, feel good, play good." :) I DO feel more motivated when I look good, but hey, if you have to chose between looking good and skipping the gym, then just go being a yucky mess and get it done. However, i think it is ridiculous how some women seem to "primp" for the gym, I have even…

I don't know what TEE is, but if your BMR is 1750, then you should be eating about 1400 (80%) of it. A this you should be losing about a pound every 10 days (350 calories a day deficit, and there are 3,500 calories in a pound). If you eat up to 1700 a day you aren't going to lose weight because that is your BMR, which…

Lol, not only does it bother her so much, but why does her being bothered about something stupid bother YOU so much? She is obviously a BULLY and not worth being bothered over. Keep it up and ignore that *****!
-
Agreed. Plus, if you don't eat them back, there isn't much of an incentive! :)
-
I disagree. You don't have to "eat a surplus" to build muscle! And lifting isn't the only way to build muscle. Hello, marathon runners? Do you think they aren't ripped with muscle?
-
Your body appears to be burning fat and turning it into muscle at a pretty equal rate, which is why you are losing inches, because 1 lb of muscle is way smaller than 1 lb of fat. So you should be proud, because you are getting healthier!! And the bigger percentage of muscles you have, the higher your basal metabolic rate…

It's just important to find what works for you. Some people do really good with P90X, but ALOT wash out instead....you have to figure out what kind of person you are and what plays to your strengths. For example, I am a very numbers oriented person and I bought myself a heart rate monitor the other day, and people I know…

Office "treats" are THE WORST!!!! There ALWAYS seems to be some cookies/candies/cake/muffins/etc/etc/etc floating around at mine. And the holiday season was MURDER. AGH! Mostly I am good but yesterday I snuck a couple *sigh*....but I DID enter them into MFP and was pissed later because I had eaten way to much fat for the…

Yes yes, when eating out ALWAYS check MFP or the restaurants nutiritional values online and figure out what you want BEFORE you get there. There are SO many times where I think "wow I would have gotten that thinking it was healthy but it is like +1,000 calories." Restaurants aren't stupid, they want to mislead you. But if…

Drink LOTS of water. I used to be a serial snacker at work but now I keep a bottle of H2O at my desk and sipping it helps tons. Also, if you KNOW you will be wanting a snack, try to head it off by having something healthy along, like a little bag of baby carrots, etc. My friend also told me she has started posting pictures…

Beautiful story! I LOVE the term "mousing out" and I'm going to steal it. :) And how trajic that you missed out on saving memories because of being overweight....but how WONDERFUL that you now are DOING something about it. YOU GO GIRL!! KEEP IT UP!!
-
Good work! It is great that you have supportive coworkers! Just think, maybe your hard work is inspiring others at the office to be healthier! Keep up the good work (even when it SUCKS :P), you CAN do it!!
-
Yay!!! Good work at being healthy!!!
-
1700 a day for your height and goal weight sounds REALLY high. On MFP it's only 1,174 for 112 lbs 4' 11", 22 years. But this is your goal weight I am guessing, so what is your CURRENT weight? you want to measure your BMR on that and then cut it 80% from there.
-
At the suggestion of peeps on MFP, I got my first Heart Rate Monitor (a Polar FT14) and I already LOVE it. I found it at Bodytronics online and it was only $62 with free shpping ($89.99 at sporting goods stores in town). If you aren't going to use it for very long then don't get one, but keep in mind that the HRMs are the…

I learned about "the neck rule" awhile back....if the cold is above your neck (sinuses, throat), you are technically "ok" to work out. If it's not (chest), then you shouldn't. So technically, you should be ok. But I know EXACTLY how you feel, i think I have the same cold, my nose it SUPER running all the time. I have…

You go girl! My favorite look is when I tuck in my shirt and wear a big wide belt over top the seam and it makes me appear to have a teeny waist. I highly reccomend it. :) Keep up the good work!!
-
I always feel really impressed when I see overweight people working out. I am like "That's great! I hope they can keep it up, it must be so difficult!" When I work out, I feel self-concious sometimes. But I think that is common whenever you are doing something you aren't comfortable with, and it has decreased with time so…

How absolutely BEAUTIFUL that you are beginning to appreciate your body! What I wonderful thing. I look forward to the day when you post about being absolutely proud of how strong and healthy your body has become. Keep up the good work and thanks for the inspiring post!!! We are our body's keepers; they take care of us so…

Thais wonderful!!! How great that you are a daddy and now you are going to be around for your kids for a LONG time and even for THEIR kids too!! :) GREAT WORK!! Thanks for being inspirational. KEEP IT UP!! :)

Cross fit will kick your *kitten*, but if you are diligent it will get you into shape. It is based on competitiveness, so if you have that in your blood it will probably work for you. However, be VERY careful that you get a good gym because your trainer has to know how to teach you how to do all the lifting and such…

Isn't is EMPOWERING?!!?! :D You can do it!! You are well on your way!! Hooray and good work!!!
-
Hey good work!!! Jeans don't lie! :) And you said "I'm a big guy, I always have been and I always will be." Remember, you don't have to "always be" unless you want to. :)
-
That's great! It's great to have Non-Scale Victories, because like you said: the scale can "lie" sometimes, especially if you have been working out you are probably exchanging muscle for fat, and muscle can be heavy, but it is waaaaay leaner and healthier. So keep it up!! It will only get better and better!! :D
-
Haha, that IS a good feeling! :) It is weird to lose a jean size...you're like "it couldn't be!" but IT IS! :) I think it's the best NSV because sometimes I have a hard time seeing my weight loss but JEANS DON'T LIE. :D Just wait until you drop another size! Keep it up!

I have the EXACT same sentiment. I ranted about it in my blog today actually. :) AAAAH it drives me crazy. I am well aware of my healthy range, and I am not going to go below that. I think it stems from 1) ignorance about anorexia 2) bad complements 3) jealousy. I think I am going to start asking people what they mean when…
