  • No doubt it has a negative effect on your weight loss; the average recommendation is 6 - 8 hours. Keep in mind that everyone is different, but if you are feeling tired mid-morning, then you aren't getting enough. I am not sleeping well, and I am definitely feeling the effects in performance, weight gain, and my brain feels…
  • This is one of our favorite remakes - taken from my Spark People cookbook! I have to give them all the credit!! Three-Cheese Macaroni Submitted by: CHEF_MEG (SparkPeople.com) Cheesy, rich, delicious--just what you expect in macaroni and cheese. What you won't expect? 2/3 the fat and half the calories of the original!…
  • Unfortunately, you will just have to shrug it off - and I know that's not easy! I let things like that eat away at me, trying to figure out if I could have done something different. Even when I know I didn't do anything wrong! That said, if you tried her three times, then you did all you could. She may have just been too…
  • Couldn't agree more! The police officer did absolutely nothing? Either there is more to this story that you haven't told us, or the officer failed in his duties, regardless of where you live. Speak to another police officer...something isn't adding up. Carrying a gun comes with additional responsibilities (not sure it's…
  • I do both, but tend to lean towards my treadmill because it's gentler on your body. That said, you need to be sure to challenge yourself on the treadmill, adding incline, doing intervals, etc. If you plan on doing any racing, you definitely want to get outside as well. I've run two HM's and did the majority of my training…
  • I guess the lack of responses indicates that we are struggling with the same issue! And don't have the magic answer for you! Hang in there! Maybe change your workout routine - the body gets used to doing the same thing over and over. I love my cardio, and even though I know I need to be doing ST, I still fight it. I also…
  • Many great suggestions already given by fellow MFP's; skimmed them quickly so I may have missed this suggestion. Do you have a fitness buddy/running partner that isn't virtual (love my virtual friends- don't get me wrong), but it's also nice to have someone running next to you to give you that needed push. I have a HM this…
  • The ups and downs - yes, you can do it again! You have a great attitude and a great support system! Love the pics - thanks for sharing them! They will definitely motivate you to head back in that direction!
  • Hi Jen! Welcome to the MFP family; I am impressed by your honesty and openness in your blog; you have taken a huge first step in gaining your life back. The best advice I can give you is to start out with small steps, otherwise it is just too overwhelming! Sure, there are people out there who can "do it all" or at least…
  • Walking and running are free and you can do them anywhere! I have several apps on my phone (along with the daily ones you mentioned) for these - Zombies Run, MapMyRun, ITGO for interval training. Also not sure if you have Comcast, but there is a fitness channel that has many free workouts! Not sure if other cable networks…
  • This certainly puts it in perspective, doesn't it!! Thanks for sharing this!
  • I encounter "negative" people on a daily basis...and even the people that love you will try and throw you off track. I don't know if it's intentional, but it is so frustrating that you have to battle them on top of everything else! I mentioned added more "vegan" into my diet last week, and the man I live with immediately…
  • Definitely eggs ( I use Egg Beaters) with an English Muffin or toast; protein shakes with frozen fruit blended in. I love hot cereal, but I have to have some form of protein with it or I am starving in no time!!!
  • Have to agree with the others - it's just not safe. I love my music when walking, running and I would love it biking, but it's just not safe. Even when I am out running, I run against the traffic and I am amazed at how many drivers are not paying attention to the road, and have swerved over. It only takes one hit...I would…
  • Same issues here.....just went into Fat2Fit - used their calculators as recommended by another on MFP, and updated my calories to 1700 (from the MFP of 1230). Going to give it a try and see if it breaks the plateau, but I am also going to refine my food choices and try to add more vegetarian type meals, less cheese, little…
  • You didn't mention meds for the autoimmune disorder, but could that be part of the weight gain? Definitely check with your doctor first! Sounds like you are really pushing yourself hard, and your body is saying enough! More fuel, reduce the calorie burn and again, see your doctor!!! Good luck!
  • For Cardio, I definitely get much higher numbers on my HRM and on my Bodybugg! Strength training is pretty much even; just slight differences unless I am doing circuit training.
  • I struggle with this but fight the same battle with the weight either staying the same or actually going up a bit. I need to just say "the heck with it" and try the increase!
  • Definitely need to add in more fruits and veggies - your body needs the 1200 minimum! Easier said than done - especially when you add calories burned from your workouts! Good luck! Start small - add another Weetabix (stay away from the chips!!!) and have some fruit and/or veggies with each meal!!
  • Have to agree with the others here - trust your instincts! While we don't know what transpired between the two of you, it's obvious you know this isn't what you want. Stay strong, focus on yourself and your son - things will look better down the road!
  • I think at some point - you know (and i'm not talking bout delivery!!) Congrats on your pregnancy - I'm past that stage of my life and am looking forward to the possibility of grandchildren (will know more tomorrow!) I loved being pregnant with my 3 children - each pregnancy was different as was each delivery (and each…
  • If I start the day with carbs, then I am hungry all time. I function best with protein in the a.m. - having carbs with it is okay, but I focus more on the protein in the a.m.
