225 calories per cup of soup? That's not very low cal!

I make my lunches ahead of time (here is this week's lunch: http://i.imgur.com/uV8Tt.jpg), and keep around healthy food that can be easily made for dinner (this week I have some already-cooked carrot lentil soup with quinoa, some baked spaghetti squash that is chilling in tubs and ready to be reheated, and a jar of meat…

I haven't done a full 30-day shred, but I've used it as a filler for when I'm in-between fitness memberships, or as a pick-me-up for days when it's too gross outside for me to motivate myself to go out. I'm not that fit (I'm about 36% body fat right now, and around 232lbs, down from 260 in September). When I do kettlebell…

Sounds good, look forward to making it.

Easiest way to limit binging is to have a limited amount of unhealthy food in your house. Planning to gorge on chips and ice cream? Buy a reasonable sized bag, and a pint. Not the family size and a gallon. Tasty food sitting around your house = nom nom nom.

Just groceries for myself (and sometimes I share food with my roommate). It averages out to about $30 a week. I don't eat much breakfast, I have a carefully planned lunch routine that costs generally under $15 a week, and my dinner is usually pretty cheap. I should make a topic about it sometime. I'm pretty good with money…

Think of it like a role of paper towels. When you have a fresh role, and you take off 10 sheets, can you see much difference? NO! But you slowly keep tearing them off... and eventually, 10 sheets makes a huge difference!

Replace each slice of bread with a chicken breast  What do you usually eat on a sandwich? Could you just increase the veggie content, and turn it into a salad?

Good luck! I haven't really told a ton of people either. I am "trying to eat cheaper," "watching my sodium," "experimenting with new food," and other similar things that aren't just, "I'm on a diet." Because it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change! And I don't need the added stress of disappointing friends/family. PLUS,…

Yay, so many new friends :D

Here are some veggies I eat (and a couple recipes I want to try): Tomato. Sliced, with sea salt, freshly ground pepper, and a drizzling of balsamic vinegar. Excellent appetizer or snack. Butternut squash soup. For every 1 squash, use 2 cups water, one chicken boillion cube, a garlic clove, and a 1/5 cup of Aldi's seasonal…

Cottage cheese mixed with pineapple or blueberries. Nom nom nom. Egg whites with a dash of salt. Beans (too many delicious recipes to even start listing)

Yes, a calorie is a calorie... but some calories are more filling than others! Take a look at what 200 calories of different foods gets you, in terms of volume: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-does-200-calories-look-like.htm Quite a difference! What makes you lose weight is eating fewer calories, and what helps you eat fewer…

Any idea if these taste good if you freeze, then microwave them?

I'm an unintentional flexitarian. As far as I understand it, there's three main camps (and of course, it's possible to span all categories). I'm mostly in the last one! - The ethicist. They don't believe meat is murder, but they do believe in the ethical treatment of livestock. They believe it's more ethical to have a free…

Keep some spices at your desk, and some sauces in the fridge at work. That should add a lot of variety to your healthy veggie/chicken combo!

I don't eat the outside of a banana, but the inside is... yellow-ish? Just realized I ate a half cup of popcorn today. I'm going to count it :)

Thanks for all the kind words

Great pictures, makes me want to buy a nice camera!

- Broccoli crowns. Cut it into bite size pieces, steam it up, add a little bit of sauce (I had been using Soyaki, just picked up some General Tso's sauce) and I've got a super delicious, super filling meal that's crazy light on calories. - Lettuce. I love salads, and lettuce is the main component! - Fancy vinegar (plus sea…

Good for you! I hope everything has worked out well.

I also love this place! I grew up in St Louis, and came here my senior year of high school for a field trip. Decided it was the place for me. Went to college in Indiana, and had some school friends from Chicago, so I would sometimes come here during holidays. Loved it. Got a job here after college, and it has been awesome!…

I'm not much of a baker, but it's nice to have new friends :)

I just finished up with a 5 week kettlebell class. I'm a 6' female, but quite overweight and definitely not fit! Started with a 15lb bell, by week 5 I was using a 45lb bell for some exercises (and a 35 and 25 as well). Definitely get a heavier one, it makes you feel like a bad *kitten*!!

Sounds great! I've been wanting to learn how to cook eggplant.

Somehow snacking hadn't even occurred to me. I guess I've never thought of tomato as a snack food. You just blew my mind. Think I'm going to have to get a little bottle of vinegar to keep at my desk at work.

Weekly Goal: 3500 Mon: 200 + 500 + 500 (biking to/from kettlebells, kettlebells class, biking to/from work) Tues: 500 (biking to/from work) Wed: calories burned (how they were burned) Thur: calories burned (how they were burned) Fri: calories burned (how they were burned) Sat: calories burned (how they were burned) Sun:…

Get ready for too much information! It actually shortened my period. "Opening the floodgates," as it were, for its insertion was pretty messy! But all of that escaped fluid meant my TOM was really short, and it's been crazy short/light every since then (apart from a little bit of extra spotting the first month).

I'm currently around 240, would love to befriend some women who are in a similar boat :)
