It seems to vary person-to-person, with no rhyme or reason. I personally have huge difficulties with it. But the vast majority take to it like a duck to water. Teens are obviously great at it, but a woman in her 50's tried it out and was zipping around like a person half her age. Definitely faster than walking; it's…

I'm also tall; 5'11". I'm 200lbs on the picture on the right: My suggestion is, don't focus on a "goal weight." Decide on something obtainable (190?) and once you are there, re-evaluate your goals.

Why don't you watch the documentary "Forks over Knives"? I have a problem with some of their scientific methodologies (and the way they present their findings), but there's a badarse vegetarian fire fighter in there who might inspire you. What is more badarse than a fireman? I suppose astronauts are more badarse. And look,…

Delicious canned salmon dip! Ingredients 1. Can of salmon, skin and bones removed 2. Dot of olive oil (or oil of choice) 3. Celery (diced, and in sticks) 4. A few big scoops of fat free greek yogurt 5. Sriracha 6. Freshly ground black pepper Steps 1. In a pan on the stove, heat up a tiny bit of oil, then add salmon. Dry it…

I'm a commuter, but I'm a bike commuter. I handle the ride home by having an awesome time :D Would moving closer to work be a good choice? Before you immediately dismiss the idea, please consider the REAL cost of commuting! http://www.mrmoneymustache.com/2011/10/06/the-true-cost-of-commuting/

Unfortunately I don't really use stationary equipment. I cycle on the streets (and sometimes bike paths, like two weekends ago when I biked 28 miles on Lake Shore Path to get to/from the Science and Industry Museum for my friend's birthday event!), so reading is a no-go. But since I'm having a hard time making time to…

I don't eat much meat (partially because it is expensive, partially because I'm too lazy to cook it), so that's not a huge hassle for me. Just picked up some frozen salmon at the Mariano's on Halsted; on sale for $7 for two pounds. Wooo :)

Awesome! The containers are made by ziploc. Super cheap and convenient.

Thanks :)

Because it was 50 cents for a "box" of strawberries. Ie, a cardboard box filled with 8 boxes of strawberries :O I froze most of them, haha.

I've never had canned chicken, but that sounds tasty :)

Yes, I lift heavy, and yes, I am bulky... but that's just because I started out even bulkier! I bike ~1 hour a day because cycling is my main form of transportation, and since the beginning of January I've been lifting heavy three days a week. This was taken after I'd been lifting for about a month (I also did 5 weeks of…

Nope. I wish I was, so I could go to the Fforde Ffiesta! Although I'm happy my town doesn't have a magic roundabout. You should go read the book The Eyre Affair, and the rest of the Thursday Next Series. It (mostly) takes place in Swindon :)

If you were at the location on Milwaukee I could wave at you as I bike by every day :p

1. My bicycle. I'm saving $100 a month on public transit (although after bike accessories and maintenance, it's probably more like $50), and just getting to work "forces" me to bicycle for 10 miles a day. Plus, since I do grocery shopping by bike, I don't have space to carry mounds of impulse junk food. 2. Bathroom scale.…

I'm 5'11", and unfortunately, I don't yet have any inspirational before/after pictures, but here is my before/during picture: Details here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/865141-two-blue-dresses-display-my-progress-pics-details

Nice! I'm not a tuna fan, but I make a salmon dip from dry-pan-fried canned salmon, greek yogurt with some mayo, siracha, celery, and ground pepper. I use veggies as dippers, and it is quite tasty

I've also got around 40lbs to go (currently my bf is around 34 percent, it was about 36 percent before I started, and my goal is to get to around 20-24% bf), and I'm just starting week 4. I think that, if you are starting at a healthy body fat percentage, then you won't lose much weight, you will just lose inches. For…

My [non-stationary] bicycle. It saves me money getting to work, I use it to grocery shop and the limited carrying capacity means I don't splurge on unhealthy things like chips, and it's just awesome! Once I get home tonight I will have biked 300 miles this month; pretty good, since it's winter in Chicago :)

I definitely think the world would be a better place if more women felt the same way!

In the locker room at the gym, a woman came up to me and told me that she was impressed with how much I was able to lift :)

I've been losing through stage one (I'm only 9 workouts in, doing three a week) but I haven't been following their diet plan, and I do extra exercise (I commute to work via bike, and I've taken a couple of cardio kickboxing classes). Plus I've got a lot of fat on my body to lose :p

On Friday I had deep dish pizza for lunch, and dinner was basically a bottle of wine and a bit more pizza. Stepped on the scale Saturday morning, expecting the worst... and BAM. I'm now below 220. Perhaps I was retaining weight because of my period? Who knows. Anyway, hurrah for not being stuck in the 20's forever! Thanks…

Neither! There's a really detailed six month program laid out in New Rules of Lifting for Women, and I'm following that.
