You look fantastic. What an inspiration. Congratulations on sticking to it!!

The only fluid that counts for hydration is plain water straight up. If that were true I'd have shriveled up and blown away years ago. Oh. And if you swallow an apple seed a tree will grow in your belly. Still waiting on that one!

A little off topic but a great site for keeping track of your runs (lots of nerdy stats) as well as other workouts is www.runningahead.com. I log everything there--runs, bike rides, weight training....it keeps track of everything.

I've had my license for 39+ years but I've never owned a car!

Great job...and so inspiring! Congratulations!

Awesome race. Congratulations!! You're a runner!!

Housekeeper. Please. Please. Pretty please.

That's a huge difference. You look amazing. Congratulations!

Sure. You'll come in way ahead of all the people sitting home on their a$$es. Remember, there are only a handful of people in any race that will "win" (ie overall or within their age groups). The rest of the hundreds (or thousands) are there for their own personal reasons. Your reasons are as good as anybody else's. Just…

New to this challenge & liking the idea of a goal. Going for 3500 this week and keeping my options open for later weeks.

What a terrific accomplishment. And totally awesome time. Congrats!!!!! BTW, when I first read your post I thought you bought the car for finishing the race...wondered what you'd reward urself with for a full marathon :-D

yep yep yep. I never eat the calories that MFP awards me for exercise. I (usually) eat the calories my HRM awards me which are maybe 50% less than MFP calculations. No way do I burn what MFP sez I burn!!

I have a pair of black jeans I last wore in 2007. OMG, it hurts to even write that. They are hanging on a hook in my closet where I can see them every day. I'm getting close...

Most of the zones are based on a predicted maximum heart rate. The formulas used are only averages. Your own max might differ 10-15 beats per minute from the average max for your age. If you find that your heart rate consistently exceeds the upper limit for whatever zone you are targetting it may just mean your heart…

I remember reading a story last year about an 80+ year-old woman who completed the NYC Marathon after starting to run THAT YEAR. I tried googling the story & couldn't find it....but I did come up with this one about a 92-y/o woman who finished the Honolulu Marathon last year(you go Gladys!!!).…

Fabulous job...I'm excited for you! What's next on the race schedule?

I've lost 4 lbs since I startted this challenge 2 weeks ago. Maybe I won't make my 10 lb goal by 4/13 but hopefully I'll get at least 8. I'd be happy with that :D

@Rneidhardt: Marine Corps was my first (and 3rd) marathon. I loved it both times. I think they have changed the course a bit since I ran it but I'm sure you will still have the pleasure of running past many of the beautiful DC monuments. It is very inspiring. And the finish at the Iwo Jima Memorial brought tears to my…

I ran 3.5 miles tonight...10k race on Sunday. Weather looks perfect so far.

I'm over 50 and working hard to feel like I'm 30! MFP has made a huge difference to my commitment. Please feel free to add me--I'm always happy to motivate anyone who is sincerely trying!

Thoughts and prayers for your dad & your family and the family of the donor. Special blessings for the unselfish act of organ donation. May everything go smoothly for your dad..

I don't think they call it lingerie in Walmart

Be proud--you earned it!

What everybody else sez. Find a new gym. This guy is just setting you up for mediocre results.

I loved it when I started making running friends. Maybe you can find a running club that has beginner classes or short easy runs. Being part of the running community makes a big difference! And you'll want friends whose eyes don't glaze over when you start talking about negative splits and such~

Only one team worth following: NY Yankees of course

I used to run 2 or 3 marathons a year. But lately I haven't run anything more than 6 or 7 miles b/c I seem to invite injuries beyond that distance. I'm now trying to train intelligently for some 10ks and if that goes well maybe a half marathon in the fall. After that....maybe back to a full. But I have to run 6.2 without…

So how's everybody doing? I got out for a 30 minute run today and a 40 minute walk this evening. Would've preferred a longer run but time just got away from me. Now trying to get thru the rest of the night w/o screwing up. my food.
