A good dark roast with a little half & half. I drink it all day!

5'6" exactly. Would like to be ~150. The last 15 pounds just don't want to leave!

See if you can work in at least one weight training day. I'm a runner and I used to think that I could do upper body weights but forget about the lower body b/c running would take care of the muscles there. Wrong. When I started doing BB squats and deadlifts I saw what a big difference it made in the power I could…

Run as slowly as you can then run a little slower. Really. It takes time for your cardiovascular system to adapt to the new demands that you are putting on it. Eventually it will all click and you will be able to increase your pace. But for now the whole point is just to extend your running interval.

I agree with everyone else about the larabars. That's a LOT of fiber that can really cause problems late in a race. YMMV but I've found I can't eat much of anything more complicated than a gel or maybe a couple of small pretzels in the last part of a marathon. If you really feel you need that much extra energy at the end…

Talk to your HR department. This is probably harassment. Or just sue.

Don't even think twice about it. Just go. Getting fit is one of the most empowering things you can do for yourself. You'll look back and wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

Totally going to BK tonight :)

Brag all you want. You've done great!

Bravo--great job & a great time!

Awww. So thoughtful. Did it.

There will always be d!ckheads. Letting them control your happiness is a formula for making yourself miserable. Do what you need to do for you and don't let others' opinions be your excuse for not moving on. You'll never win that game.

Motivation isn't a one time deal. It's a never-ending series of choices that moves you toward your goal. When you make a bad choice just move on and be determined to be smarter the next time. Also, fitness doesn't reset at midnight. Don't wait 'til tomorrow to do it right. Start now.

I've been running for two decades. I've run something between 15 and 20 marathons. I still run an 11 to 12 minute pace. I'm just extremely grateful that I have the ability to run at all. Your 12 minute pace is fine. If you get faster that's great. If not, that's great too. Don't worry. Be happy!

I definitely recommend a running club. First, it's fun. Second, they'll probably be the only people on the planet who will listen to you when you start talking PR's, hydration packs, marathon tapers and blah blah blah. It helps to have friends who share your obsession!

tl;dr

I use a completely different log for weight training since MFP doesn't give any calorie credit anyway. The only weight training thing I log here is if I do some circuit training (like tabata or cardio circuits with weights). Otherwise I just log my lifts in an electronic journal that I can bring with me to the gym.

Surf City Half would be a great training run. It's fun and reasonably scenic--and as you pointed out, there won't be the pressure of a finish time limit. I don't know anything about the Nike Half in DC but my experience is that unless there is a crucial traffic feature to the race (for example, reopening a bridge or major…

Wow. You lost 77 lbs and gained a baby! You look terrific and sounds like you've found a really healthy lifestyle. Congratulations!

People who come to dinner parties and expect the hosts to cater to whatever their diet du jour is. "I can't (won't) eat meat/grains/sugar/fish/anything cooked beyond 114 degrees..." Eat it. Don't eat it. But don't expect the world to revolve around YOUR food plan.

I love my Fitbit One. I've had it for about a year and can't live without it. Even bought some as gifts for family & friends. But I'm sort of a gizmo freak so YMMV.

That would be NO!

3 mile run in frigid temps. Followed by way way way too much food/drink. No regrets whatever.
-
Congratulations--what an amazing achievement. I thought you were gorgeous in your "before" pics, but absolutely stunning now. And yes, what a great gift to give yourself and your family!
-
Great job! Isn't it amazing what we can do when we don't know when to stop?
-
Congratulations--you look great! Hope this is the start of a great new addiction :)
