  • Given the six pages of responses I'm sure this has been mentioned. But I've found that at every gym I've ever gone to, with is pretty much the 24 Hour brand, but all through southern California and the Portland Metro area, that no one is paying attention to anyone but themselves. In the nicest way possible, no one will…
  • Macademia nuts rolled in a square of melted dark chocolate. (All nuts.) Meat, yup. Silk Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk with Protein Powder. (I use Jay Robb Whey Isolate, 1 carb) Spinach with oil & vin dressing, a tablespoon of crumbled bacon. Hardboiled eggs. Avocado with salt and pepper, or oil & vin dressing. Hope that…
  • I definitely agree with the above do it in stages. There is a good how to here: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2010/10/04/the-beginners-guide-to-the-paleo-diet/ And here: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2013/01/22/super-mario-eating/ I'm a nerd. :) Anyways, the second link is one girls way of how she transitioned into…
  • I didn't read all of these, so if this is a repeat, I'm sorry. I started taking the Vitafusion gummies from Costco, I haven't been sick since I started taking them regularly, last summer. I tried a Women's One A Day, but I had a major nausea, and I have a hard time swallowing large foul tasting pills. So... it's a gummy…
  • This! Usually the day I work out if I just eat when I'm hungry, I don't eat all my cals back, but then on my rest day I want ALL THE FOOD! :)
  • Plantfusion Protein Powder http://plantfusion.net/products.html
  • I like Jay Robb Protein Powder, It itself is gluten free, but not made in a gluten free place. http://www.jayrobb.com/images/nutritionPanel-WheyVanilla.png I like plantfusion vanilla bean too!
  • I couldn't believe I'd made it to page five without finding this. I HATE kale. And it's full of the micronutrients I'm low on. I've tried and tried to like this stuff. and I can't I hate it. Spicy rubber. Yum. Not.
  • Feel free to look at mine, I'm at 1600-1800 cals but, I eat a lot of fat, so if you don't that'll save you some. I also eat low carb most of the time. But in general, I eat mostly whole foods, and reduced dairy. :)
  • I'm having "meatloaf" muffins for lunch this week, each has a serving of zucchini it, and I serve with with a serving of spinach salad (in an oil and vinegar dressing) two veg. I am having egg salad with onion/celery, on romaine for breakfast, I have a cup of roasted veg for dinner, 2 veg. It is not hard to get 2-3 veg at…
  • Hey! We have some similar goals! I'm 30 (almost 31) and I've lost about 10 pounds, and my total goal is around 65-70 pounds. I have started taking protein, but not because of weight loss specifically. I work out 6 days a week, 3 cardio, 2 strength, and 1 yoga. I am on a low carb diet, with a goal of 30% protein, and I eat…
  • Great ways to get started on fitness: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2009/12/09/beginner-body-weight-workout-burn-fat-build-muscle/ http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2012/11/01/morning-mile/ These are workouts anyone can do, even with no knowledge. After I did this for 7-10 days I wanted to do more! :)
  • I have a friend who occasionally uses a vegan protein shake, she really like the texture and flavor of this one Plantfusion, Vanilla Bean. http://plantfusion.net/
  • I use it, but I wouldn't swear by it. It's a tool I use to sustain my macros, I do 50-60% fat. I lost 10 pounds last month doing that, and working out, and counting calories, so was the coconut oil a part of that sure, but I don't know how much. Years ago I had an acquaintance tell me that her doctor told her to switch to…
  • It depends on why you are doing it. I drink some either before or after a work out because I typically don't like to eat something solid before or I'm too busy to make something after. Or, since I count my macros if I am especially low on protein and don't have meat handy, I would drink it then. Hope that helps.
  • Since Jan 2, tonight is my 4th carb nite, and I'm down 11 pounds as of today. Thai food tonight! :)
  • I am always hungrier the next day. I have no problem eating back exercise calories if I'm hungry, but I'm also not going to force myself to eat more if I'm not. Cardio days I usually want the extra food that day, weight training days I usually want it the next day or even two days later. Meh, maybe there is a science…
  • Eggs, almond milk, bacon, tuna, beef, chicken, butter, coconut oil, mayo, celery, onions, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, red pepper, a banana, avocado, roasted unsalted almonds, cashews, walnuts, macademia nuts, and jay robb whey isolate protein powder. I eat some combination of all of that every week.
  • I would like to lose more than 7 pounds, and continue the exercise routine I created in the last two weeks throughout the whole month.
  • What helped me to get motivated was to just get started. I had analysis paralysis about what was the "best" work out, and I was spending a lot of couch time figuring that out and then I read this article: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2012/11/01/morning-mile/ And I was like... I can do that. I walk walk one freakin' mile…
  • I'm doing Carb Nite. I like it so far, I'm never hungry, unless it's meal time, I can eat anywhere, and I feel great! I just hate the scale the 2 days after Carb Nite... I know I know... don't get on the scale...
  • If I have lots of left over calories I'll grab a serving of roasted unsalted macademia nuts, 30g, and a square or two of dark chocolate. I'll melt the chocolate for a minute in the microwave and then roll the macademia nuts in it, I'll put in the fridge while I drink a glass of water, and then eat them. It's a little…
  • I'm no expert... But I would say it depends on your goals. Anything is better than nothing. However, you aren't raising your heart rate over an extended period of time, you are unlikely (though maybe you are) pushing yourself to the point of failure on the strength training. I wouldn't log any of it as exercise…
  • I second this! ETA: Apparently I fourth it. Just read the above posts. :)
  • I just started using Jay Robb Whey Protein, Chocolate, it's a whey isolate, no artificial sweeteners (but does contain sweeteners, no fat, 1 carb, 25 protein. I mix it with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. If you like milk chocolate you'll pry like it. I felt that it was very sweet and could probably do without the stevia,…
  • That's more than 2 pounds a week, you are already losing fast! Are you looking to lose weight faster or is it the inches you were concerned about?
  • Hey! The reason I don't do cardio and lift on the same day is because I run/walk outside, there is a park .5 a mile from my house with a mile loop through the woods, by the lake, pond, etc..., and I lift at the gym... it's really more of a time/convenience thing. Is it especially better to combine?
  • Thank you! I think I'll switch my "whatever" day to Thursday with yoga, do weight training Tues/Fri, and then C25K M/W/Sa... and I'll look into swapping pushups/crunches/plants for pullups and dips, that makes sense! Thank you!
  • My BMR and TDEE-20% (sedentary) are nearly the same. like within 50 calories of each other. So, I've set my calories to 1600 and eat my exercise calories back (If I'm hungry.) When I have consistently done a fitness routine, a consistent amount of days per week, then I might switch to TDEE-20% but with the exercise added…
