  • It depends on your goals, like how many calories you are allotting for it, how frequently you'd like to eat, how many calories/fat/etc you're willing to eat at a time. I find that if I eat a breakfast that is 500+ calories, most of which come from fat/protein, I'm good to go for most of the day. My lunch can be light, veg…
  • Thank you for saying this. Month one I lost 11 pounds, Month 2 I gained 2 pounds... I'm starting month three and with the exception of last week I have counted every calorie and worked out 4-6 days a week. (ESPECIALLY in month 2.) I keep telling myself, "nothing you're doing for your body is bad, keep going, weight loss…
  • Unless I can eat at least 45 min before the workout my breakfast will be super light. Like 1/2 a banana and a cup of almond milk. I also take my supplements first thing in the morning... Roughly: 170 cals (Supplements, Fiber, Fish Oil Caplets, Gummy Vite = 90 cals, almond milk = 30 cals, and 1/2 Banana 55ish cals.) After a…
  • Mine is boring too! But I look forward to every workout, because I can be better, faster, stronger, each time. :)
  • Sunday: Stronglifts 5x5, 30 min elliptical Monday: C25K + 30 min walk (Total 60 min) Tuesday: Stronglifts 5x5, 30 min elliptical Wednesday: Rest Thursday: C25K + 30 min walk (Total 60 min) Friday: Stronglifts 5x5, 30 min elliptical Saturday: C25K + 30 min walk (Total 60 min) This is my schedule through March 24, it'll…
  • If you feel hobbled I would definitely do a few days of walking only to keep your legs warm and then stretching. I always finish my "running" workouts, which are intervals like yours with a 30 min walk, I may be sore, but I'm never unable to move normally the next day. Also I'm doing c25k, and just three days a week seems…
  • I would definitely agree that if it's your FEET that hurt and not your lungs, heart, or legs, then shoes are the issue. However, if any of the other were an issue I would say pull back on pace. I'm currently in Week 5 Day 2, and I run outside. I mention that because I used to always run on a treadmill, but I was never…
  • I highly recommend skinnytaste.com Recipes I've tried and loved: http://www.skinnytaste.com/2010/01/asian-turkey-meatballs-with-lime-sesame.html ^made for the week, froze, and take a serving out the night before for lunch. http://www.skinnytaste.com/2009/02/crock-pot-santa-fe-chicken-425-pts.html ^crock pot, she has lots…
  • Just out of curiosity where do you get protein? Not much was mentioned, maybe you aren't eating enough protein? And could add a serving or two to what are already eating, which would both test if more calories helps and if more protein helps.
  • Yes... I'm with you. I haven't lost anything since the beginning of the month, but work out 5-6 days a week, running/walking and weightlifting/elliptical. I posted a thread earlier, and the consensus was to be patient. Patience is hard! :) Someone mentioned that the addition of weightlifting can cause your muscles to store…
  • I totally second this! I just started Stronglifts, there is an app to keep you on track for which workout you're doing, what weight you're lifting, it doesn't take too long, and there are lots of videos to help teach you how to do correct form, and they are super basic so someone is always at the gym that can correct you.…
  • Just so you know it doesn't say, "so and so completed her diary and she's over her calories for the day," it just saying you've completed. :) No need to be embarrassed.
  • Almond milk has lots of calcium, so you could drink that instead. (I do.) I'm not quite paleo yet, but I am headed that direction, I take a multivitamin, fiber, and omega 3 fish oil daily. Also check out marksdailyapple.com http://www.marksdailyapple.com/definitive-guide-to-primal-supplementation/#axzz2KwdG3SPE
  • haha... I like the body has attitude thing... that's what I'll tell myself next time I get on the scale, "Stop giving me attitude! I know you liked that workout last night!"
  • I can't handle "big" vitamins. I take a gummy multi-vitamin from vitafusion, fish oil caplet, and mix a couple servings of fiber into water in the morning. I drink almond milk to get calcium... Since starting the gummy vitamin last summer I haven't gotten sick once. HTH :)
  • Thanks all!
  • It depends, is your friend suggesting you do a ketogenic diet? 30 or less net carbs (carbs minus fiber) is a ketogenic diet. 50g (net) is still low carb, 100g (net) is STILL lower carb... I have found that for myself, I gravitate toward a lower carb diet when I eat healthy, even unintentionally.
  • Oh yeah... menstrual cycle... that makes sense. Curses!
  • My personal philosophy on Lent is not that you give up something you'd LIKE to do less of, but give up something that is a sacrifice to do less of, but that will be a blessing when you finally do restore it to your routine. I've considered giving up a favorite television show, eating at restaurants, coffee, using a…
  • I'm new so this is somewhat out of the blue. But I do have a suggestion for you. You could melt the butter and coconut oil together and mix in you cocoa powder and then let it "set" in the fridge. I sometimes make "fudge" this way with coconut oil and protein powder. Wrap it up in single servings, and make sure it doesn't…
  • This was me in college, I was in a musical with the theatre department and needed the stamina to sing and workout at the same time!
  • I keep posting it, but there is a challenge on Nerd Fitness to roll out of bed and walk a mile. That's the only commitment. After a week I developed the habit of getting up early, and wanted to do more. I now STRONGLY prefer working out in the morning and feel like I'm WAITING ALL DAY if I don't do it first.
  • Agreed with the C25K suggestions, also if you really think your fitness level is that low you might want to start with this: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2012/11/01/morning-mile/
  • As previous posters have said, yoga varies greatly. But it's worth swearing by, it increases flexibility, strength, and reduces stress. All aid in weight loss and general health. Yoga is great for inch loss, and retaining LBM too. I think of yoga like vitamins and vegetables, just do it, it's good for you. :)

  • Maybe her parents told her she was fat and drop her off at the gym, and she sneaks food, and texts to her friends about how unfair her parents are?
  • 6-7, 3 running/walking days, 2 strength training/elliptical days, 1 yoga/elliptical day, 1 "Active Rest Day", hiking or swimming. All 60 min+
  • I just started week 3! The app is use has a 30 min workout, including a 10 min warm up/cool down. I currently can do about 2 miles in that time. I then walk two more miles to train my heart rate, I'm hoping that will help with my cardiovascular fitness overall and that I will be able to advance week to week well.

  • I feel the same is what you described. The last few are very difficult, to the point where I am glad I'm done with it because I'm not confident I could (even shakily) do it again, however I feel fine within 10 minutes. I haven't tried doing it again, but I don't have a spotter, and do not want to drop a weight on my face…
