Pattern... not plateau, is this normal?

So, whenever I start the process of losing weight, I lose about 10-13 pounds in the first monthish, and then seem to stall out, gain back a little (even though food/exercise still on target) and rest at about an 8 pound total loss. After a week of that I usually give up.
However, I've last through a second week, and now I'm back to 10 pounds down, I'm wondering, will I now start losing again? Can I break 15 pounds... I know mathematically I can, but argh.
Anyone experienced this? I know weight loss isn't usually steady, but the hard brake right in the beginning is really difficult to combat mentally. (Good news I'm enjoying C25K so much that it didn't occur to me to quit.)

Yes, the same thing happens to me. I think it's completely normal. I find that my losses and gains are based on my menstrual cycle. After a couple months (if I stick with it long enough) I usually know which weeks I am more likely to gain weight.0
