@ etaylor I agree - I was moving and doing some heavy work. Not breathing hard, but pouring the sweat out - even in the A/C! Congratulations on finishing another round! You are doing great, keep it up! Round 5, day 6 Work day, so a lot of varied stuff: A little light cleaning, a TON of folding laundry/putting away, and a…

@ etaylor Shame you can't bank the excess when you have it. You are doing fantastic. Round 5, day 5 Was "off" today from work, so was busy around the house. LOTS of laundry (About 3 hours of actual folding and storing by the time it's said and done) - still chasing a bug problem, so hope this fixes it. Mom and dad are…

Round 5, day 4 First day on the new job, and it was an... interesting .... day of batting a thousand fails! Swore there was lots of movement, but according to the pedometer, only 17 minutes or so of recordable movement. (bummer) So, added 20 minutes of zumba on the Kinect tonight. What a FUN day! (This has been an EPIC…

@ etaylor I've tried a few of the challenges, but that's just not for me. And, today is the first day of a new, more physical job. Going to have to see how worn out I am before I head back to the gym even. Round 5, day 3 (7/29) Another 4 hours cleaning - FINALLY finished the project! Can someone tell me how a 4 hour…

OK, diet's back in hand, and I've been exercising. Things have finally started turning around again: LW: 291.2 CW: 290.0 My weight's going to look like a stock ticker, but at least it's a steady downward trend!
-
I'm not accepting my weight in this morning, I'll wait until tomorrow and see if it's any better. Been doing a different TYPE of exercise than usual, and my carbs have been running high, so I think the unsatisfactory number may be from water retention. ::Shakes fist at scale:: Mean thing!

I'm part of a great "challenge" thread that everyone else is welcome to come join. It's the 21 day challenge, and those of us who are the nucleus of the challenge would enjoy seeing some others. ::grins:: It can get a bit lonely with the same people all the time. Here's the link if you're interested:…

I'll see if slowing down again helps. I THINK my biggest problem though is that my shoulders and upper body is still weak. I have to really throw my head up to clear the water long enough to actually get a breath, or else I seem to enjoy trying to drown myself about every third stroke. Working right now on getting the…

@ tazmac Sorry to hear you were under the weather! Glad to hear you're feeling better, though. The last 3 days are a great way to get back into the habit of logging your activity again. Still not sure what "bocce ball" is though. Going to have to look that up when I can finally finish this cleaning spree I'm on. @ etyalor…

Round 5! In with a whopping big bang. Seven hours of cleaning on a single room! I knew it was getting bad, but didn't realize HOW bad until I ran out of time to work, and I'm STILL not done. Probably have another two or three hours to go tomorrow. Thankfully, not too many walls left to go. (2 big ones, then it's all…

I haven't had any luck with photobucket posting pictures on the forums here either. I've actually done better to post them through tinypic.com. Just remember when you upload the image there are a few things that will help: 1) make sure the image SIZE is set for message boards, so the image will automatically be resized,…

Round 4, day 21 Closed out this round with a whimpy ending. ::Grins:: Managed to get in .7 miles of walking while shopping (and the carts at our Walmart have FINALLY been serviced, but that just means the brakes are extremely stiff. Must have been pushing an extra 15 pounds of torque! Don't know how the elderly can push…

Reeled in another .5 mi yesterday (7/26) and .7 mi today (7/27) to bring the total miles to 30.46! Congrats to everyone else who's made it or passed their goals!

That's wonderful news! Do you have any links on pages explaining how to prepare them? We've got a nice BIG wild one in our yard that I can go harvest from. I just need to know how to prep it, or else my mom will toss it before I get a chance to see if it works for me.

@ tamsin66 After going through a massive personal rebellion with my carb restriction, and pinning it down to the "summer foods" the family likes to eat, I finally had someone give me a wonderful recipe for a quick, low carb/ high protein bread. 1 tbs butter 1 whole egg 1 scoop of protein powder (for more of a…

I'll agree with the effort going into the strokes. I'm not sure if I agree with the difference between back stroke and free style - since they use almost the same set of muscles. (But, I'm also no exercise kinesiologist, so could be talking through a smoke screen there.) I know when I keep the "endurance" segment of my…

@ etaylor The baby is OK, I think. Vet found a fever, and said there's been some nasty little viruses roaming the area that might explain the limp, but I think it was either she and the yearling were a little too rambunctious when they were rough housing, or the baby hooked her leg on the towel I was using as her nest when…

To everyone who's replied: Thanks for your encouragement! It is wonderful to see the well wishes and other encouragement from other dedicated swimmers! @ fishgutzy I love the medley because it lets me hit just about every muscle in my upper body, and it ensures I don't get lazy legs. ::Grins:: I got in the bad habit of…

I'm pretty much cursed with all grain products - at least a 80 point jump for me, and it stays high for a minimum of 2.5 hours. I was lucky at first with one exception, but even that one has given way, and causes me problems now. (Morning cereal ::sits down and bawls::) But my true nemesis is actual dairy milk. Don't ask…

Round 4, day 20 Panic city time for the baby, so spent most of the day in the Vet's office pacing. Racked up about a half mile there. After it cools off, I've GOT to get some more weeding done - the front flower bed is a solid carpet of nut grass again, and with more of that mythical stuff expected to fall tonight, I don't…

Added another 1/2 mile of miscellaneous walking today for a total monthly total of: 29.26 miles.

@ tazmac Welcome back! Glad you had an enjoyable vacaction, even if parts of it were a bit hectic. (Doesn't that usually come up when you're away from home?) @ etaylor I'm still around - I've just been lost in the horribly ugly culture of the drow elves and trying to extricate a character out of that culture so I can…

Actually continuing surprise myself. 1.24 miles swimming, .37 miles walking = 1.61 total miles added today Total miles for the month: 28.76 Miles remaining: 1.24. This is doable.

CW: 291.2 (+.6) LW: 290.6 Umm, somehow I think this is the wrong direction. But, since the scale popped up to somewhere around 294, at least it's heading in the right direction again. Think it's because my menu fell apart for a few days. But, that should be back on track. Now, to just get the gym time back on track again.

Swimming, walking, biking - probably swimming though. It gives you the resistance to help burn the fat, but because you adapt to it so quickly, the resistance won't cause you to bulk up. At least that I've seen. Almost any "bulky" swimmers supplement the swimming with lifting. And, I've personally seen some TREMENDOUS…
-
@ etaylor Sort of lazy my foot. That's a good day's walking/dancing (to me.) You are doing great keeping things moving. Round 4 day 17 20 minutes weed eating About an hour shredding/slicing veggies in food prep. (Thought I'd see if zucchini freezes well if it's prepped for "noodles" Will up date when I find out, if I…

If I estimated right, I did more than I'm claiming, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. .66 miles today to make the monthly total 27.15

@ etaylor You have been doing fantastic. I've been reading, just not posting because I haven't had anything to report. ::Grins:: Thank you sickness! You are really rocking round 4! Keep it going. Round 4, day 16 Actually felt like getting up and doing something, so started the morning at the local farmer's market. (Wanted…

Been just this side of sick, so haven't been out and about as much as I should be. Finally managed to kick out another 1.06 miles today. Monthly total: 26.49 Left to go: 3.51 (Hmm... seems like a nice day for a swim tomorrow, if I'm not wheezing.)

I've been lifting for a while. Started last fall with a trainer, had some trouble transitioning to working solo, but finally have a routine I can live with, and enjoy. Probably because I was already lifting, when I tried the NROLFW it didn't feel intense enough for me. But I found a site called "My Fitness Bliss" which has…
