  • If you think it may be potassium, black tea has a ton of potassium available for your body to scarf up. From someone who drinks a ton of fluids in a day, I can say that unless you are extremely low on your sodium every day and drink more than 2 L of fluids, and are sweating enough to soak all of your clothes from your…
  • Increased exercise works to a point. Everyone is different, however, where that point is. Since I know this is the long haul, and the exercise habits I establish NOW will be with me forever after, I'm trying NOT to make marathon gym days part of the habit. I just can't seem to figure out how to get out of the gym in under…

  • July update - Monthly narration can be found here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/kcaffee1/view/update-time-555018 Skipping straight to the fun stuff.
  • Put in another 1.37 miles walking today. Total for July: 25.43 miles! Hmm, may need to add a few more miles to my goal, but will wait and see how this goes first.
  • @ etaylor If you have a gym available that doesn't require a horrific contract, have you considered just paying for the months you HAVE to use it, and the rest of the year making do with what nature provides? Or do you lift, and require the gym year round? Round 4, day 15 Actually felt good enough to tackle the gym again…
  • Reading everyone's reply makes me feel like the glutton here. ::pouts:: I've had to reset my calories to the TDEE - %, or else I'd NEVER be able to eat back my exercise calories! I'm set (right now) at 2300, but I'm not sure that's going to stay. I might have to bump it back up towards the 2500 mark once the school…

  • This is the current collage for July, just updated today. The first two rows of pictures are for reference of where I've come from. ::Grins::
  • Finally have a number I'm not embarrassed to admit to. (After getting a new leash on my carbs - been fighting a mental rebellion about this.) 83 two hours after dinner. Carbs were 80 up to the reading (net of 49) Almost no cardio, but I did lift on an empty stomach, which I think helped pull the numbers down radically.…
  • shameless self bump It's that time again, but I still need to get the pics worked up into the collage. Should have them up tomorrow.
  • Official weigh in today: CW: 290.6 GW: 260 (estimated) UGW: ? where every my body decides to stop AFTER I pass the 260 mark, so long as it looks healthy, and I AM healthy. Not sure if I'll ever get into the 100's, but if my body decides to keep going, I'm not going to force it to stop. I remember when I was in high school…
  • Wow! You got a workout towing the little one! It's great that you have the family to swim with (and push you a little to keep up ::grins::) Hope your love of the water sticks with them forever. It's such a refreshing way to get your exercise!
  • Just wanted to drop in and let everyone know I'm not dead - yet. Just the grunge the family has been arguing with finally managed to get hold of me. Started on meds today, and for the first time that I can remember, they knocked me out cold. (I've taken these antibiotics before without any odd side effects, so not sure…
  • @ etaylor Congrats for your being on the move all day! Round 4, day 14 Rain, rain, come and stay! Please do not go away! It's been wonderful around here the last couple of days. Not so good for staying awake, but wonderful for the plants because of the constant, light rain. Wonderful to hear. Miserable to get yourself…
  • Another 2.74 miles today Total monthly miles: 24.04
  • My profile pic is my before/during. I update on the 16th, so a new set is due out in a few days. Will post a full size one then.
  • Great way to really up the new round's intensity etaylor! Keep it going! Round 4, day 13: For some reason I wasn't feeling completely up to snuff today, but still managed to get to the gym. 60 mins in the pool for a grand total of 5200 m - 2000 m breast stroke - 1600 m back stroke - 1600 m free style Pedometer reported an…
  • Today I managed to swim an additional 3.23 miles (5200 m - I THINK my conversion's correct.) and walk .91 miles according to the pedometer. If my math on the conversion is correct, then my monthly total is: 21.3 miles this month. (Again, math may be off - have I really moved that far??)
  • Hello to the group from the Southern US. College student with an insane schedule this fall, and even worse next spring (that one will be AFTER this challenge though. ::Grins::) I've been doing good so far with a wonderful friend's list, but this summer I have hit a massive stall. Switched to the TDEE - % because I got…

  • @ etaylor Great work! I know I kvetch about bubbly morning people, but I totally agree. When I can actually drag myself to the gym with the sun's awakening, I tend to have a better outlook on the day as well. Round 4, day 12 Fairly busy, especially considering I didn't want to do ANYTHING today! About a cumulative of 30…
  • Add another 1.62 miles from the pool and .44 miles walking for a total of 2.06 today Monthly total: 17.16 miles
  • I'll bite. Need to get myself moving again, so the scale will quit laughing at me. Since Summer classes let out, I've let myself get a bit TOO lazy.
  • @ tazmac Have a good trip, and as much fun as you can! @ etaylor The new addition is a little boy, white based with (Alyssian? like a Siamese, but white body instead of cream) silver points now, but I think they are going to turn black when he matures. Hope his white stays though! LOTS of personality, but I haven't gotten…
  • bump for replies I've a few books with the basics, but always interested to expand the knowledge base.
  • @ airangel Now I know where they are importing our heat from! I'd offer to send it back, but I don't think you want it either. (Visited Tucson, and though the heat is dry, it's still a bit too much for me.) Tonight was 95 Total carbs: 89 (net 58) No exercise to speak of. I'll happily take this one tonight!
  • @ etaylor Great work on finishing up another week of the c25k program, and staying on track for the new week! Round 4 day 10 payback for over indulging yesterday - too sore to do much of anything. got a little bit of walking in doing some emergency shopping (new kitten, and no kitten size litter box! EEEP!) Got a little…
  • Too sore to get much done. Still managed to salvage a whopping (yes, that is sarcasm there) 1/2 mile today. Total miles to date: 15.1
  • @ etaylor With all of the other movement challenges/groups/threads, the fact that we've got even the 3 of us is spectacular! I'm sure we'll get another spate here before too long. But, having a steady core of folks is even better. (To me.) Really helps to keep things moving and shaking. As for your day 20 - don't forget…
  • @ retiree I could WISH we'd get some decent weather! We're slated to be over 100 for the next week minimum, and with August rapidly creeping around the corner, I think we will be seeing temperatures closer to 110. Though, it HAS been cooler than the last several years, it's still miserable when the heat really sets in. 2…
  • Didn't get QUITE as much linear movement as I hoped. Walked 1.39 miles for a total of 14.6 miles this month. (I don't think you count vertical movement - like lifting heavy stuff and putting it down - in this challenge.)
  • @ etaylor Don't worry about being a bubbly morning person! Wasn't trying to dampen your bubbles, I'm just kind of envious of morning people. I'm a night person, and am going into a profession where I'm going to be working 8 - 5. NOT my ideal hours! But, I love what I'm seeing so far, and really want to get there, so I'll…
