  • Check out Bodyrock.tv. They post daily workouts which use bodyweight (mostly).... only 12 minutes long. There are modifications for beginners. They are great!
  • I've started tracking calories burned during phase 1 of Insanity. (I just finished week 2). And I'm only burning 280-310 calories per 40 minute session. I'm 5'9", 140.... HR avg is 140. My resting HR is around 54. I'm totally bummed..... either my heart rate monitor is messed up or I just don't burn those numbers of…
  • My first 10K time was 1:06. My PR is 55 minutes. Do the 10K..... it's much more fun to run longer! :)
  • I'm not an iron man... but I have run 4 marathons. When I'm training I usually just up my carbs a bit before long runs. Otherwise, I don't do anything special.
  • when I was running a lot.... 30+ mile weeks I would cross train with cycling and yoga.
  • The best running shoes are the ones that are good for your feet and your stride. Get yourself to your local running store and get fitted. It is WELL worth the hassle and the price.
  • I did my first duathlon about a month after getting back on my bike. I had not biked consistently since I was a teenager.... and this was at age 39. (I was already a pretty seasoned runner though). I was slow, but I finished and felt like a rock star! I'm planning to do it for the 3rd time this May. I say go for it!
  • It sounds like it might be doable.... but don't plan on it being a great race unless you happen to be a very talented runner. And for those comparing a half to a full...... they are completely different animals. They say your first 20 miles is the first half of the race..... and the last 6 is the second half which…
  • I'm a bodyrocker! I did the January challenge.... mixed it up a bit for Feb & March. I've committed myself to Insanity now for the next 6 weeks. I like that they are quick workouts and that they are free. I don't like that Lisa had a boob job. Booo! And, I also enjoy following along with a video rather than doing the…
  • Ditto this. Except I did not tuck & roll. I just face planted. Lots of witnesses.
  • I wear Brooks Pure Connects. I got them when they were released last October and I love them. I ran the Philadelphia marathon in mine last November!! I had been wearing a stability shoe for years...... my previous go-to shoes were Mizuno Wave Inspires, but they changed the fit of the model so I was looking for something…
  • Go to a local running shoe store and get fitted. It will be worth it. I personally like a minimalist shoe. I wear Brooks Pure Connects. :)
  • Ok, that RW formula is helpful. It puts me at 105 calories per mile.... which is about what I thought I burned. So for a 4 miler it would roughly be 420 calories. I am getting only 275. Maybe my unit is just off. Thanks.
  • Ok - it sounds like a low calorie reading is the norm for Garmin. Soooo..... should I get a Polar FT7? How accurate are they? Thanks for the responses, btw. ;)
