Hmmm.... Nutella IS THAT good. Brunettes are hottest. Gingers have kankles. Blondes are boring and full of themselves. Television is totally boring ( we agree on that!!)

LMAO! I want to be strongfitsexymilfspo.

Wow! I just searched Tumblr for "thinspo". I had never heard that term before today..... (I'm old and living under a rock apparently  ) But, that is quite disturbing. I'm the first one to admit I'm a little dysmorphic, but that is over the top! I hope my 9 year old daughter doesn't EVER start admiring or emulating…

it IS hard!! If you can master the art of "maintenance" then you are golden! I've always thought losing was easier than maintaining.

A Fitbit is not to track exercise calories. You can wear a HRM for that. The Fitbit tracks NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis). It tracks your steps, stairs climbed, and basically gives you a gauge for your TDEE.

Weight loss is a long, slow battle. There will be weeks where you see a lot of loss and there are weeks where you might go up a bit. 35 days is not nearly long enough to see a major difference. Weight loss is not linear. I think people get a false idea of what is realistic when you watch shows like The Biggest Loser. In…

Short, tank, Brooks Pure Connect shoes, Garmin, iPod... will travel. If it is super hot I wear a hat and my fuel belt.
-
I think a lot has to do with where you are starting from, how much you lose, and what your genetics are.

I did not look at your diary.... but one pound is nothing. That's water weight... or maybe you haven't pooped in a day or two. Don't sweat the small stuff. It's long term trends you need to be more worried about.
-
It's really friggin hard to lose weight. REALLY hard. Everything about your biology wants you to hold onto that weight. You should be celebrating a 1 or 2 lb lose per week!!!!
-
You only need about 500 extra calories per day while breastfeeding. So you should figure breastfeeding as a 500 calorie per day exercise. Make sure you eat at least 500 calories over your BMR. How old is your baby? If you have a really young one..... don't worry about weight loss. There will be plenty of time for that when…

You need to eat in a deficit. Bottom line. If you eat too much you will be fat. Period. End of story. If you eat clean - so much the better for your health, but it is not necessary. If you exercise and get some cardio and strength training....better yet! But, you don't have to exercise to lose weight. You only have to eat…

:flowerforyou: You said midwife too!! I'm a midwife. Thanks for that.

Re anorexia - good point. Same thing with the lap band. If reducing calories significantly didn't work then the lap band would not be treatment for morbid obesity.

I completely agree!! I'm reading Brad Pilon's Eat Stop Eat... and he goes into some detail citing lots of research articles to support the fact that "starvation mode" does not occur as often as we think it does.

I lost all my baby weight 6 years ago.... I lost 50 lbs in 6 mos.

I plan my workouts BETTER than I plan my meals!! The endorphin high is often the highlight of my day.

Generally 30-90 minutes. I might do more if I'm marathon training. The long runs can take up to 3 hours.

Leigh Peele (my current guru :D ) says re-feed / eating at maintenance is a good idea every 12 weeks if you have a significant amount of weight to lose and every 8 weeks or so if you have very little left to lose. This may not be necessary as often if you are currently cycling calories. If you are in a strict deficit -…

bump cuz I want to hear other opinions!

Perhaps you are over-training?

Great thread!! I've been thinking about getting a new scale as well. I've heard good things about the Tanita scales. I'm curious to read other replies.

Here's the scoop. I gained a ton of weight during my pregnancies. Changed my life - got more active, started looking at calories and portions, lost 50 lbs in 2005. Since then I have weighed between 135-145 depending on what's going on in my life. Right now I'm sitting at 139. I'd just love to get back into the lower range…

Thanks!

Oh! One way to get cheaper shoes is to buy last year's model. When they make a new version of their shoes the stores usually discount the old to get rid of them. So you might be able to get a deal. Also - I would NOT recommend going to a running store and getting fitted then buying cheaper online. Please, please support…

Thanks! I was actually checking out Leangains last night. I am planning to use Martin's version (adjusted for women) - fast 14 hours, feed 10. It's pretty easy for me to not eat in the mornings.... so we'll see how it works out!

My current shoes are $90. I've paid as high as $110. There are brands/styles that run upwards of $150. They are not cheap, but if you are going to run.... the investment is worth it!!! Do NOT skimp on the shoes - even for casual running.
