  • Something's wrong. I'm seldom hungry and I've never (while dieting) woke up starving. Make sure that the foods you are eating have adequate satiety. This may help: http://nutritiondata.self.com/topics/fullness-factor
  • Assuming that your medications aren't inhibiting your weight loss (and no underlying medical issues), then the only reason I can see is inaccuracy in calories and exercise, or eating incorrectly. I can't see your diary, but that's my best guess.
  • Don't sweat the natural sugars in fruit. Avoid any added sugars or foods containing added sugars. I would only caution that you not replace veggies with fruit because they taste better.

  • It takes a little longer to make the cellulite go away than it does to lose the weight. A few things that have helped SWMBO with this are: Make sure you get enough omegas Take a glucosamine supplement Lots of fruits and veggies HIIT jogging/walking LOTS of water Time. Sticking with the diet for two years without yo-yo-ing…
  • Excellent reply and one that reflects my experience. Apparently, people tend to view weight loss in another person as an indictment against themselves, creating a feeling that they should be doing a better job of controlling their own diet. By a simple statement of attributing your need for weight loss to a health reason,…
  • This is a great response!
  • I guess the polarized opinions are to be expected when it comes to something people care about. You've received some good advice in some of the previous posts, so I'll not beat a dead horse, but I would like to make a couple of points: Crate training is a good thing. Yes, any dog can be crate trained. If the dog reacts…
  • They are a convenience item and are usually a better choice than fast food. However, the use of enriched ingredients coupled with high sodium content make them a poor choice for frequent dining. You should limit them to once or twice a week.
  • When I've experienced these types of symptoms, it usually means that I'm eating the wrong foods - not enough fruits, veggies and legumes and too many calories coming from processed foods, dairy, or other calorie dense foods. Also, your diet needs to be varied enough to make sure that you are getting all of your minerals…
  • I weigh daily and have found a pound or two fluctuation is not abnormal. When I lose the weight, it is sometimes a large drop at once. Many experience this, so don't get discouraged. A possible explanation is found here: http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/of-whooshes-and-squishy-fat.html
  • Feeling great is what it is about. When it comes time to get up, just do it. Moving around for 5-10 minutes will get you past the initial grogginess - unless you are not getting enough sleep or you are anemic. For me, it is up at 4 a.m. and I'm exercising by 4:20. Nighty-night is around 9 p.m. If I follow this schedule and…
  • If you are burning 600 - 1000 calories an hour, that's a pretty intense workout. I second the advice to get a heart monitor. If your gross calorie intake is only 1200 for the day, and you are working out at that level, it will make it harder to lose weight. You should be shooting for a net calorie intake of no less than…
  • Never attempted to go snooping. *wonders if he should close his diary* :)
  • Yes, if I am taking snacks and lunch to work.
  • One side benefit of monitoring my food intake that I had not considered was how much it forced me to eat at home. I used to eat out a couple of times a day, but now most meals are from home. Saves on the budget quite a bit. If I do end up eating out at a restaurant, it isn't that big of a deal to go with grilled items and…
  • Maybe the gym isn't the best fit for you. For me, a high energy dog is a great companion that is always ready to go do anything: hiking, backpacking, walking, whatever.
  • I went cold turkey, after drinking about two liters of Coke/Pepsi a day for 30 years. O_O I now do not drink anything with added sugars, because it is almost impossible to keep my daily sugars where they need to be if I drink my calories. I make sure that I drink at least a half gallon of water each day. Keeps me hydrated…
  • If it is to be a healthy lifestyle change, as opposed to a weight loss program, then balance is key. Yes, you do need to monitor your numbers and you do need to make sure that the fats (all types), carbs, and proteins are in balance. If you are hitting your calorie numbers, but your fats are low, then you are getting…
  • I like data - lot's of data. So I weigh almost every day and record it. This allows me to compare calories, fluids, exercise, and types of foods, and their impact on my weight. If I'm up a day or two, it signals me to drink more water and to watch the calories (and their sources) a bit closer. And it doesn't really bother…
