Same thing happened to me yesterday. I was up 1.5lbs, but down like 1/2" on my hips and waist and like 1/4" on my thighs. Today I'm down to a new low weight. It doesn't make sense sometimes. I'm sure it was water weight, but you'd think you'd be able to find where you're retaining water with the tapemeasure, you know? But…

Even one of my very best friends (who I discuss diet, exercise, etc. with all the time) told me that I needed to stop because I'm getting "too skinny". I still weigh 10lbs more than she does and we are the same height, so however that works! And she's still complaining that she needs to lose 5-10lbs. But I know she doesn't…

That was one of my favorite things to eat too, and I couldn't stop at a few bites, I wanted to eat the whole thing. I've just stopped eating ice cream. My husband won't stop and there is ALWAYS Ben and Jerry's in the freezer at our house. For years I struggled with it and would keep blaming him and eating it because it was…

I'm also now 10 lbs under what it says on my driver's license, and haha, what is on there was a complete lie (underestimation) at the time by probably 15-20 lbs.

I have two rather thick mats that I use together whenever I practice, which gives a lot of extra cushion for my knees. I have arthritis/old knee injuries/etc. and it definitely helps. You could also just have a second mat folded up and use that under your knees when you need the padding in kneeling poses. And with regards…

So true!

I have to agree that size doesn't necessarily have much to do with what you can do in yoga. I teach classes as volunteer work and there are thin people who have arthritis or other injuries and are quite inflexible or have very poor balance, and I've seen quite overweight people who are more flexible than I am in certain…

I know that there are a few studies out there, but it's very hard to prove a benefit because you can't do a blind clinical trial - hah, you'd know if you're doing yoga or not... I see a few that show that "yoga" can potentially help, but they really don't specify a certain style. I would think that just selecting whatever…

Personally I would go for adding sources of fat that are better for you in terms of cardiovascular health - coconut oil, olive oil, avocados, nuts, eggs, fatty fish like salmon, etc. I know personally, adding a lot of these things but cutting out the other sources of fat in my diet resulted in a big improvement in my…

Usually I eat one whole egg and a couple of whites and give a couple yolks to my dogs. It gives them really soft shiny fur and they love it and less calories for me. And I'm not wasting anything. Plus, if I'm eating hard boiled eggs, I love the taste/texture of the white and hate the yolks.

I agree. I also eat a ton of eggs, but cutting processed food and vegetable oils is what improved my cholesterol levels. I eat loads of coconut oil, eggs, some avocado, nuts, olive oil, whatever is in the meat that I eat... and my LDL cholesterol dropped 34 points in 3 months and the numbers are now perfect. So as far as I…

I can relate to this too. And luckily, I've never been extremely overweight, but I do know that I've experienced fears about losing weight that are related to a combination of the "safe" feeling that comes with being bigger than average and dealing with more unwanted male attention when I'm thinner. And I've been reminding…

Same here. I don't want to as cut as the fitness/figure/etc. models, but I definitely want to maintain a lot more muscle than the bikini model. Also - seeing as how none of those people at fitness and beyond are maintaining that definition year round, it seems like a pretty ridiculous goal unless you are actually competing.

Yoga is very helpful for me in other sports. Mainly I bike (road and mountain), but I've been doing a C25K as well and one of the things I notice is that if I use the posture techniques from yoga it keeps my neck and back from hurting when I run. And I definitely need yoga to loosen up my hips/IT bands/etc. after exercise.

I actually started out mountain biking with clipless pedals and did that for probably 5 years. But as I got into racing DH mountain bikes, I ran into problems with very techy stuff where I couldn't get clipped back in if I dabbed a foot as the terrain was often too rough and I switched to flat pedals for that. And then I…

I cook what I want to eat and offer to make some for my husband. If he doesn't want it, or wants to complain about "where's the rest of it, I want every meal to include bread, potatoes, rice, whatever..." then he's a grown up and he can cook whatever he wants, whether it's a separate meal or additions to what I've cooked.…

In the past 3.5 months I've switched to basically using nothing but coconut oil for oil. I eat a lot of it, including just eating at least one big spoonful of it in addition to cooking with it. Also eat avocados, whatever animal fat is in the meats that I eat, a small/moderate amount of nuts. I'm also gluten-free and don't…

It makes sense, but I'd agree with asking the follow up question of if she thinks there is something you need to change. I mean, everyone ranges somewhere on the spectrum of being a **** to being a pushover so I'd agree it isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as you're not going overboard or hurting people unnecessarily,…

So um, wow! I mentioned here that I was going to get my bloodwork done again, and got the results back today. I've been eating gluten-free (almost grain free), loads of veggies, unprocessed (unpreserved) meats (but not necessarily low-fat - I still eat occasional ribeyes and chicken with skin on it, etc.), fruits, nuts,…

I'm a 35-36" underbust/39-40" bustline, 26-27" waist, 39.5" hips. My ribs are kind of huge compared to my waist below them. Which isn't unheard of or anything, but makes it tough to find fitted clothes that fit right without tailoring everything... And really - curvy should just mean a big variable between bust/waist/hip…

Totally agree - your face shows a big difference and you just look healthier too! Keep up the amazing work!!

All I can say is that the silent treatment is unlikely to accomplish anything. I'd say it's time to sit down and have a talk. Ask what the he actually meant - (I will say that occasionally men have a really bizarre thought process and say things without realizing what they are going to sound like). At that point I guess…

That's awesome - and really good for you too. I have a teacher who takes the time to make the extra flexible people get out of sinking into their joints and work on strengthening instead and it's really a good example and reminder that the point isn't to look good/advance/like anything in particular. It's to do whatever…

Clean. It's doctor supervised too - I wasn't eating fast food or anything, but enough junk that my cholesterol was going up, inflammation factors up, thyroid function down, etc. I've tried IIFYM/just counting calories and it was sheer torture if I could pull it off at all - definitely not something I could sustain. Yeah I…

The question is a size 10 in what? I'm 5'9" and 173 and easily fit in size 6 flared skirts because I have a tiny waist compared to the rest of me. Looking at most size charts I'm something like a size 12-14 chest, size 4-6 waist, size 10-12 hips. But occasionally I've found pants that are apparently based on the waist size…

This is an awesome point! You look great and tons of people have stretch marks. Don't worry about them!

I log them but I wouldn't worry about eating too many fresh greens, that's for sure. I allow myself to snack freely on raw veggies. I record them - I want to know what I was eating and track the fiber and nutrients and everything else, but a lot of days I'll sit down and eat a pound of raw green beans as a snack. And I'm…

I've got to agree with the cold turkey solution. It's amazing how your taste buds change over time as well - fruit tastes incredibly sweet - even a lot of veggies taste sweet after you stop the super intense sugary tastes from processed food with added sugar. Now I can add things in here and there. I eat 70%+ dark…
