Most agave is processed so it is as bad for you as corn syrup, sadly. I'll join with you. I rarely eat anything added sugar, but ate some dark chocolate this week. Otherwise the only sugar I've eaten in probably 6 months is honey, but I try to limit that to maybe a spoonful a couple times a week at most. Most of my sugar…

There's no universal definition. I think everyone has a little different priorities (i.e. whether organic is important to you, etc.). My understanding is that the key part is to eat as much fresh produce and meats (if you want) as you can. Avoid preservatives (other than like citric acid and sea salt)? I'm probably over…

I pretty much eat this way all the time, but here's what I ate yesterday: Green smoothie (organic kale/cilantro/lime/pineapple) 3 eggs organic coconut oil 2 chicken breasts jicama fresh homemade guacamole organic raw chocolate with mint 2 cups of frozen blueberries organic pecans And I've been off alcohol completely for…

Good point - tree pose/warrior 3/etc. Those balance poses are good ones too for helping create stability in your knees. There's another one that my teacher calls "arrow lunge" though it's a little different than what google comes up with for the most part... It's basically this:…

I know what you mean! I did yoga at a friends house and we practiced on the carpet and it was crazy how different it was. But now I do practice in the grass at home occasionally and it's good to add a little surface variety in. And I think as a general rule, (assuming you want to keep improving and not just maintain) if…

I've NEVER heard anyone say that you bulk up from yoga, even temporarily. If I do a very challenging class, I might have sore muscles and retain water for a day or two, but that's about it. Power style yoga classes definitely keep my body strong and muscles looking toned, but I wouldn't say it's going to bulk anyone up…

I've had mine for probably 6 weeks. I had a Fitbit One before and it worked fine, but I COULD NOT remember to put it on all the time. I was always digging trough the laundry to find it and would miss half or whole days of wearing it. I wish the Flex had an altimeter too, but that tradeoff is actually well worth having one…

I've had a lot of knee issues myself (torn ACLs and torn meniscus for a total of 5 knee surgeries), but there are so many possibilities with knees it is a bit hard to know what to recommend. I will say that chair pose with careful attention to form has been very helpful. Warrior poses are helpful for me too, but again with…

I think that is so key with yoga (and life!). It's great to have goal poses (or things like getting your heels down in down dog) but I find that counterintuitively, I make more progress when I let go of feeling like I need to make progress. If I work on it consistently, but let myself accept that it might never change and…

I had someone tell me the other day that I look younger lately, which is great! They were talking about my face - but I think I have more of a healthy glow now because I'm eating better food, avoiding things that I'm sensitive to, and feeling much better in general. But I will say - there are places on my body that I tend…

I'm currently around 175 and 5'8" and don't feel like I need to our should lose much more weight. Maybe 5lbs, but I look and feel pretty fit right now. I've always exercised a lot. But even when I was up in the 190's, I'd mention to my doctor that I'd like to lose weight and they'd look at me and ask "Why? If you want to…

Headstand with no wall was one of my goals this year too and I finally got it. I was getting more and more consistent at the wall and finally had to just go for it freestanding. I did it out in the grass in my front yard so I figured if I flopped over it wouldn't hurt as bad. :) And it's funny, but as soon as I went into…

Absolutely agree. And if you really refuse to give up fast food, you're going to find a way to rationalize why you "can't". I've done it in the past. My husband does it now. He "doesn't have time", so he eats fast food. I've cooked lunches for him (things that he likes for dinner at home) and packed them up and had them…

For me personally- I feel the same way. I drive an old car with 240,000 miles on it, but I'll spend whatever it costs for fresh, healthy food - it's one thing in my life that I do not mind splurging on. I do try my best to eat everything that I buy, and I will buy things that can be stocked up on when they are on sale…

I love frozen blueberries!!

You can adjust your macros if you want as well. Personally my goals are to keep sugar to a minimum, eat plenty of fiber, protein and fat. As long as I'm eating healthy fats and my total calorie intake is where I want it, I don't worry about too much fat, too much protein, or too much fiber. There's not really a way to…

Love that. Or guac on some veggies. I just did that for lunch and used cucumbers - yum. Hard boiled eggs are good too - more protein in there, but those fill me up too.

I do agree that if you're going to eat things that are like your nemesis, that's the way to do it. Or only buy a very tiny portion - I used to to to Whole Foods and the bakery sells those frosted brownie bites. Sinfully delicious, but they're like one square inch of brownie - not THAT big of a deal. If I make a whole pan…

Haha, and why would I not eat that hot fresh bread with gobs of butter on top? :) That's me exactly... My husband can buy a bag of oreos and eat one and put it away for a few days (he just gets crazy over salty snacks). If I do that, I spend the next several days thinking of nothing but oreos and when I can have the next…

I've just stopped drinking temporarily while I've been working on losing weight (It's been about 3 months since I had a drink), but even though I didn't drink that much before, I'm strongly considering making it permanent. It's funny now how I really thought going out with friends or to weddings or things like that…

For me - anything with added sugar, to be honest. Ice cream, cookies, anything under 80% cocoa chocolate... also fresh bread/fresh tortillas. And I find it way easier to eliminate these things completely. If I have a bite, it's like sheer torture to not eat ALL OF IT. My husband is not going to cooperate by keeping them…

Sometimes I just dip nuts in coconut oil (when it's the right consistency like butter). Even yummier - mix some coconut oil with a little honey and a lot of cinnamon - OMG.
-
That would be your adductors. And I was like that before too. Probably 2 years ago, I couldn't do a straddle past about 90 degrees, but now I'd guess it's probably something like 150 degrees? It just takes patience and consistency. :) I'm still making progress with it.

Haha, well, I pick out and put on what I'm wearing before I start working out, so I don't think the focus I put on picking out my clothes detracts from my workout. ;) Just kidding. Anyway I usually have bright print bottoms and a black or solid color top, so it's not like it clashes, but most tops go with most bottoms, so…

I know when I was eating lower carbs I felt good if I wasn't doing much, but when I'd exercise I was just bonked. I could ride my road bike for 15 miles or so and then just felt dead. I've added in more fruit for carbs and that gives me a lot more energy. I know I've read about people whose bodies adapted, but I really…

My main thing is joint pain - GONE. I've had 5 knee surgeries and my doctors told me it was just arthritis and I needed to take anti-inflammatories daily and probably need my knees replaced once I'm old enough. I'm not even 40 yet, so not good news. And I can't stomach the anti-inflammatories - literally. They were tearing…

Even that doesn't work half the time. I have two pairs of identical pants in different colors. Same size, same brand, same model. One is at least an inch smaller than the other. I've been told that part of the problem is that they cut fabric in gigantic stacks, so when it gets cut, the pieces on the top of the pile end up…
-
Yeah, size charts are different brand to brand too, and a lot of times I don't match up with the chest/waist/hip sizing at all. I know the last time I was looking at fitted dresses - I'd be an XL on top, XS waist, and between a M and L hip. Whatever that makes me... And I just bought two pairs of jeans the other day, one…

I said over and over again that there is no specific way to define clean eating and that it's whatever makes sense to the individual and you're accusing me of telling everyone to do what I'm doing? Where did I tell anyone what to eat? I'm just explaining my personal diet plan (which has been very successful!), not telling…
