I lost 100lbs over the course of a couple of years nearly 10 years ago and still haven’t got any loose skin. However, like with anything, there’s no guarantee that that’s the case for everyone. I would just say, focus on your health and your goals and don’t let the thought of loose skin put you off.

I do competitive sports and I find after a hardcore bout (where I’m also consuming a crap load of water throughout) that day and the next following days I’m always a bit swollen and also put on water weight-especially since I’ve worked my body hard. As others have said, it won’t be fat you’ve put on. Just be kind to…

I was thinking the same. I restarted up the Diet come first week of Dec and I thought it was ridiculous starting during Xmas period. But actually it has been great, mainly (like many say) being more mindful of how much I’m consuming which has made me rethink choices (ie do I really need that extra glass of wine, shall I go…

Tbh, this is how I feel but yet over 8 years later, as soon as I stop logging and guess, the weight creeps back on and I’ve put on weight and never been able to maintain. I really wish I could not have to track forever but this seems so impossible for me.

I just find it interesting because they cite peer reviewed medical studies and deal specialise in weight loss but so far no one is taking their opinion on board. I suppose that's why myths are perpetuated. I didn't once what my stance was on it — just linking and outlining what they are saying. I'm a journalist/editor so…

The article was written by two doctors

It's a bit of a reductive suggestion of the science, in the sense that these were in controlled group's of obese patients, not just a range of people that only need to lose just a few pounds and some people 100 pounds. It also doesn't say that losing 20% and regaining would be a success - the study cites long term weight…

I'm assuming it's meaning just taking 20/30 calories less per meal or something isn't going to make a difference.

Yeah ...

If it's skin rather than adipose tissue then the only way it goes is surgery ...

That is PER SLICE dude.

The reason you're losing weight is because you're only on 1200 cals a day. Not magic juice.

Fat turns into muscle Starvation mode Carbs are bad Eating after 6 is bad Sugar is evil Dairy is evil Cutting out gluten makes you lose weight Lifting heavy makes you bulky Anything to do with "detox" Green tea helps weight loss WW, SW, Cambridge Diet, 5:2 etc all are superior to CICO ... Even though it ultimately comes…

I did the same and now only weigh around once a month or some random morning if I feel like it. So many years I was preoccupied with the only success being numbers on the scale and sometimes it would actually enrage me how I wouldn't lose anything when I had done everything right. But now, I just weigh less but take…

Even just a big bowl of pasta with nothing on it can clock near 1000! Nuts, olive oil, peanut butter, cream ... God I could have an epic carbonara or nearly 2000 cals right now lol

Bmi is pointless. Don't use it. It's difficult picking goal weights but I've aimed more towards measurements and fitness goals and of course aesthetics. Weight on a scale can be very deceiving and doesn't take in a whole host of things into account.

This. I find, including this week, if I've been at the gym a lot I contract the worst effing colds. People don't wipe down the weights or equipment either so it makes it more likely to catch something!

Hi thanks for recommendations. It's not just for weights, I do 4 other cardio sports so I need something that gives me some kind of idea what my caloric.m burn is. For example, I was in a derby tournament for 4 hours, or I went spinning for 3 hours the other day and both days I only ate an extra 200 calories to what I…

Yeah that's why I'm asking if there is a fabled fitness tracker out there that will be accurate on steps but also calorie burn. So far looking at Microsoft band 2.
-
Unfortunately unless it's keeping at a caloric deficit all the time, you won't lose. Ie being a deficit one day then going over another just cancels it out. Is that the possibility?
-
Cool thanks guys. Don't know if I am any closer to finding the right one but will take a look at the suggestions and understand the HRM calculations better! Thanks!!!

I do that already. I am in a professional roller derby team and a game is massively draining (training, depends), I also am a Mexican wrestler and I powerlift. I also cycle and run. I'm not interested in guessing on calories anymore and want to just be more efficient with the tech that's out there!

There's so much wrong with this statement, I don't know where to begin (after I stop laughing of course).

That was me. Was a ball basically with legs then after losing weight and exercising, I was hour glass.
-
There's the issue right there.

Congrats on your losses firstly. There are a few points I would make before people start posting the chart but: 1. Do you weigh and log absolutely everything? The only way you lose weight is by having a calorie deficit. 2. If you're logging correctly - You are eating too little - if you are this overweight, 1200 calories…

I've posted a similar post this morning As I want to get a tracker but I've seen for years so many people saying Fitbit isn't accurate on calorie burn ... Argh.
-
This. I just posted as I don't have one so I want to buy the best one there is and need to know. I don't understand the point of some of these fitness trackers that still don't calculate accurate calorie burn :'(

Hurts my back more the more weight I carry and run. It's all the flab in the gut that pulls on my back, so while I could still run and do marathons/ triathlons, I was so much slower which was the most frustrating thing.

I just don't like milk. I love dairy, like cheese and cream etc, but I don't drink tea with milk or eat cereal and I have porridge with water. Just taste.
