I adopted a vegan diet a month ago and would welcome any similarly minded MFP friends. Please feel free to add me.

>>I'm a vegetarian and after watching " What the Health", I'm aiming to become a vegan!<< I watched that documentary on Netflix in early July while recovering from what I believe to have been food poisoning. The documentary was both eye-opening and inspiring. I became vegan overnight and already have have experienced…

People already have offered many good tips. In addition, I would ask: Are you getting an adequate amount of sleep? I have heard and I believe that a sufficient amount of sleep is as important to weight loss as diet and exercise.

Great resolve and self-discipline. You're truly an inspiration to all on the health journey!

You sound determined and that is good. Stoke your resolve every morning when you wake, fire yourself up. It is your commitment, with encouragement from your friends, that will carry you to success. Best wishes to you!

Thank you for the feedback; it's good to hear from someone with first-hand experience. At the moment, I have a Fitbit One which has served me well. But I want to go to the next level and get better data. I'm trying to decide among the Peak, the Fitbit Surge, Fitbit Charge HR, and the Polar 400 -- all of which seem to have…

I started running on March 30 and have lost 19 pounds since then.

Hey, Chris. You had a great day! That's an amazing number of calories burned. -John

You are right. I figure that once I hit the 180s, I'll alternate the two. Saturday: Rest day Sunday: 71 min @ 6 mph

We leave on vacation, beginning May 31. But, once we return, I intend to resume where I left off. I'm determined to continue challenging myself until I reach my goal weight.

Friday night run: 50 min @ 6 mph. I started feeling strong, but was tired 40 minutes in. I probably should take a day off from running.

That's a workout to make a Marine recruit gasp! I think you have pushed yourself this past week, so kudos to you!

Got in a morning run -- 61 minutes @ 6 mph

On Monday (4/28), I had a 41 minute run @ 6 mph and, on Tuesday, a 46-minute run @ 6 mph. However, I took the day off on Wednesday as I had an 11-hour work day. On the plus side, I will have a couple of extra hours this morning before heading into work, so we'll see how I do. It appears everyone is off to a good start. Way…

I'm 5'8" and 60 years old. CW = 196 GW = 170* (* It depends on how much muscle mass I have. The last time I was in shape -- about 20 years ago -- I weighed 170. But I may have had as much as 15 pounds more muscle mass then than I have now. So, for now I'm going to shoot for 170 and, once I get there, reassess whether I…

About an hour per day on average -- mostly running, some walking and occasional lifting.

I had my gall bladder removed some 20 years ago and discovered that I could actually eat more types of food than before the surgery. (Eating tomato based products in the period several year prior to surgery, for example, would send me into an agony that would keep me awake all night.) I remember waking in recovery after…

"Before I got a Fitbit I didn't realize how inactive I was between workouts." The same here. With a desk job, I knew I wasn't as active as, say, a construction worker. But I was astounded to learn just how sedentary I was … aside from workouts. I still find it challenging to rack up non-exercise steps during the work week.…

I've been a member for several years, but, after a strong start, fell off the wagon and regained the weight, plus a pound. Since I returned, I've lost 13 pound since March 30. In the past two weeks, though, the rate of loss has slowed. So I'm curious to see whether I can tally another 10 pounds by June 1. Question: Do we…

I agree with the poster who advised you to put the eggs in cold water when you begin to cook them, enabling them to heat up as the water heats. The problem with placing cold eggs in boiling water is that it tends to make the shells crack during the cooking, permitting egg to extrude through the shell during the process. No…

You have epitomized dedication and it shows. You're not only looking great in the "after" photos, you look happy and energized -- an inspiration indeed!!!
