  • I agree with what's been said already, keep it out of the house. If you have to have it in the house then always measure out the portion in a small bowl...and eat it in another room! Never eat from the container, seriously the second you decide to eat straight from the container, you're done, the ice cream will win every…
  • Your workout friend is right, when it comes to choosing the type of carbs to eat, complex carbs are the way to go...they are healthy and give you energy and keep you feeling full for a long time. It's the simple refined stuff that should be avoided.
  • This is me as well... I wish I had better control of it, but it's just tough to fight your body, even when you know what's going on. I try to just keep up with my usual routine...and I try to remind myself in a week everything will be back to normal.
  • yes, generally the more good things I do for myself, the better I feel...which leads to me doing even more good things... and in the same way, doing negative things can have the same effect, of causing me to do even more negative things. so I always try to start every day out by doing something positive and healthy, since…
  • I'm 35 and have been maintaining for awhile, feel free to add me! :)
  • My opinion is that if you focus on eating real whole unprocessed food (i.e. comes straight from a tree, or the ground, or a farm, or however it is found in nature) then you can't really go wrong...that's the best source for getting maximum nutrition, and eating that stuff will generally lead to weight loss. Beyond that,…
  • I'm in Ontario, they sell them at T&T, it's an asian grocery chain. As for what they are, they're super low calorie tofu yam "noodles". Some people like them, some don't. I tried them and did not like them. If you manage to find them make sure you rinse them really really well before using them, they're packaged in a fishy…
  • Here are the tips I try to stick with whenever I go to all incl. resorts: - Remember to drink water after every alcoholic drink to stay hydrated...so easy to forget this one...but sooo important. - Try not to overdo it with the sweet sugary alcoholic drinks, they taste great but are loaded with sugar. I always try the…
  • I think many people start out by counting calories, which allows them to eat whatever they're used to (lots of processed stuff, but just less of it)....then they gradually realize that eating whole foods will allow them to actually eat a larger quantity of food than if they eat the processed stuff...and that's when they…
  • I checked your stats on your profile and you're 5'3", so at 125 you're not really overweight. You're trying to lose vanity weight basically. The less you have to lose the longer it takes. So you are going to have to be patient. Just stick to eating healthy (1200+ exercise cals), and keep up with the exercising...the…
  • Yep happens to me on occasion as well. Once you get into the habit of eating healthier it becomes easier to notice...before I got into a healthy lifestyle I was always in a continuous state of being bloated...I just didn't realize it! Once I started eating healthy I saw an improvement on some days, but then other days I…
  • Low calorie drinks: vodka + club soda rum + diet coke gin + diet tonic Basically get an ounce of alcohol with a calorie free mixer... and it will cost you around 60 calories a drink. Avoid anything too fancy (pina colada, margaritas, etc)...those are always really high cal.
  • The best way to adopt a new lifestyle is to incorporate changes into your life that you can see yourself doing forever. Learn to experiment with real food. If you enjoy drinking shakes/smoothies then I'd suggest experimenting with real fruits and vegetables in your blender...there are lots of healthy recipes online. Look…
  • Oh ok I get what you were asking now. The weight of 1 cup of ice cream will vary depending on the type of ice cream and what's in it (for example, 1 cup of cookie dough ice cream will weigh more than 1 cup low fat vanilla ice cream). If they do give you the serving measurement in grams then you could weigh it out. But, the…
  • Yes, and usually a serving of ice cream is a 1/2 cup.
  • 70% cocoa chocolate
  • Texas is a tough one, I had a hard time when I visited there a year ago...lots of "chicken fried" this and "smothered" that... the best I can suggest is to really take your time reading the menus and just try to make the best choices. I ended up choosing foods that said they were prepared cajun style or blackened or…
  • apples coleslaw (shredded cabbage) salad (or some form of greens) jalapeno peppers (i throw them in everything) almond milk greek yogurt chicken breast ground turkey or extra lean ground beef green beans (frozen)
  • I don't consider myself on a diet, it's a lifestyle for me. As far as it being fun, well, making ordinary meals into really healthy meals is kind of a fun challenge to me...and learning and experimenting with new foods is fun. So yeah, I guess overall the journey to achieving optimal health is fun for me.
  • I agree. If you want, do your own "detox" by just eating really really clean (whole unprocessed foods only, focus on lots of vegetables and other natural high fiber sources)...that should be enough.
  • What you chose sounds good (baked cod, with potato pancake). I'd eat half (including the coleslaw, but not the rye bread) and bring the other half home to eat tomorrow. I'd skip the pineapple fritter.
  • I agree with this. Fresh fruit contains a lot of nutrients and fiber, there's no need to cut them out completely, just limit to 1-2 per day. It's really all the refined/processed carbs that should be avoided.
  • I would like to eat that way (king, prince, pauper), but like many others I do the reverse. It all comes down to time and enjoyment of the meal. I have the least amount of time for breakfast and the most time for dinner....and since I like to enjoy my meals I'd rather have more calories to use when I have more time to eat…
  • It would definitely influence what I ordered, and also how much of the meal I ate (and how much I packed to go).
  • I second this!
  • As far as dietary changes, I'd suggest increasing your vegetable intake...things like broccoli, brussels sprouts, shredded cabbage, green beans...i.e. really dense bulky fibrous vegetables. You could also try fiber one cereal...but make sure you have lots of water with it otherwise it will have the opposite effect. Also,…
  • I usually season with olive oil, garlic (either fresh or dried), and then randomly pick one or more herbs to sprinkle on (again either fresh or dried)...then toss in a pan, on the grill, or in the microwave if I'm lazy. Then when I'm eating them I may add some sea salt and pepper.
  • I  almond milk, it's the best.
  • Evening snacking is my biggest downfall as well, it's really just a bad habit that I connect with watching tv. If I'm doing ANYTHING else I'm fine...but as soon as I'm in front of the tv I want to snack. So for me one solution is not to watch as much tv...but when I've decided to be in a couch potato mode then I allow…
