I have the same problem. However I have noticed the less processed food I eat, the less focused I am on eating! Processed food is engineered to be addictive, which is why you can't have just one  ! It's hard to get yourself off the processed stuff and I still eat some of it, like tortillas and such, but for the most…

I too failed miserably at Weight Watchers. I think they encourage way too much processed food (which I have now eliminated for the most part because I notice it actually makes me hungrier) and I was always starving!! If I'm hungry, I'm miserable and give up. This has been much better for me. I've slowly made changes over…

I'm 5' tall. Twelve hundred calories doesn't even come remotely close to filling me up. Even when I was thin (I've gained a lot of weight due to health issues) -- and then I ate about 1800 calories per day and could still lose weight (I used to run like it was my job). Starving yourself isn't going to help you lose weight.…

Wii sports and the Just Dance 2 or 3 video games! I am getting the balance board for my birthdayso I can't speak to that one. I always move around my living room while playing just like I'm playing real tennis or bowling (space permitting of course!). You can always just swing the racket but obviously won't burn as many…

I did Atkins about 10 years ago and stayed on induction for 6 months! My body hates carbs so I struggled adding in additional carbs. But you can see I am now back to needing to lose a large amount of weight. I just couldn't stick to it. If you can make it a lifestyle, then I say go for it! I did manage to lose about 65lbs…

What I've been doing is mixing a quarter to half cup of part skim ricotta cheese, a 1/2 TBLS of cocoa powder and some splenda. It makes you feel like you're eating some chocolate cheesecake for very little calories (110 cals for 1/4 cup!!!!!! depending on the cocoa you use). It's delicious and can curb those cravings a…

Never had it, even when I was wearing a size 2 -- my hips are way to narrow and my thighs were too athletic. Just won't happen, never will and I'm ok with it!

I was a processed food junkie but I feel so much better now that I'm eating "real" food all the time. On New Years' Eve I ate a bunch of junk and got very sick eating it. This re-inforced that I am doing the right thing by not turning to processed food. I feel much better eating this way even if the scale isn't moving much…

I will re-iterate what has been said before....you can't possibly fail unless you give up! This website isn't meant to be a diet plan...it's a tool in an arsenal of weapons people have at their disposal to achieve better health but if a person doesn't FULLY commit to a lifestyle change (and not a diet!) they can't possibly…

Congrats to you!! You look fabulous! I too have sleep apnea and have the stupid mask - it doesn't help me at all! I also have Type 2 diabetes at 31 and I'm way too young for this sh**t. lol That's why I'm here.... Hoping I will be as successful as you on your journey!

It's tough because I've always had the exact same problem! If it was in the house I was going to eat it.....right now!!! My fiance can eat 5 chips and be satisfied - I need the bag. BUT I have changed my mindset. I don't know what happened, but it was like I woke up one day and said I wasn't going to poison my body any…

Homemade broccoli, cannelini bean and cheese soup! It was the first time I made it, took me less than 10 minutes and was absolutely delicious! 14oz can low sodium veg or chicken stock + 8oz water and bring to a boil, add 1lb broccoli crowns chopped and cook approx 8 mins, add 1 can cannelini beans and some salt/pepper and…

Thanks for this! Definitely some good ideas!

I'm in! My New Years' resolution in 2008 was to give up fast food and I did it for 6 months (which is a small miracle for me!). I LOVE fast food and in my mind I know it's so gross for me and my body, but my tastebuds say "YES, YES, YES!!!". I even give up Dunkin Donuts and for a "New Englandah" this is the biggest…

I don't care for spinach cooked I prefer it raw. However, to get more of it, I wilt it and add it to a lot of cooked meals. In the mornings I add it to my breakfast burrito....heated tortilla, sauteed onions, peppers, spinach a smear of guacamole and 1 scrambled egg/eggbeaters.

Congrats to you! I lost 2 lbs over the holiday (yes, the only 2lbs lost has been over the holiday...crazy, huh?) and can honestly say I didn't feel like I missed out on anything! I ate what I wanted but I definitely tried not to hover around the food like I usually do! I didn't have to be "rolled" out to the car to go home…

I agree with all the above! Unfortunately for your taste buds, but great for your health, you need to learn to like fruits and veggies. You can totally retrain your tastebuds! For the longest time, I only liked corn, green beans and tomatoes. Now I eat all sorts of fruits and veggies! You just need to keep making yourself…

I like soynuts. They are a good substitute if you like crunchy snacks. 1/4 cup has 130 cals It's a little more calories, but I love the low-fat honey maid grahams (1 full cracker) with 1 TBLS all natural peanut butter = 170 cals (if you just used a little less p butter you'd make the 150 cut off ;-) alouette garlic and…

Two fun recipes (although I noticed chilli is a popular choice! lol) Breakfast burritos: heat a tortilla, spread with a little guacamole. Saute onions, peppers until lightly browned and a handful of fresh spinach and continue cooking until nearly wilted, add some whisked eggs or egg beaters and make into a veggie scrambled…

Name: Tara Weight: 210.8 lbs (no, that's not 211  ) Goal weight: 145 lbs 90 day goal: Keeping up my healthy eating habits and get back to exercising regularly. It would be an added bonus if I could be under 200 lbs before the 90 days is up!

I will have to keep this in mind! I bought Just Dance 2 for my Wii (I figured this will be a little easier for me to do -- neurological problems and all) but once I get my stamina up, Zumba it is! :-)

1 scoop whey protein, 1 c almond milk, and handful of assorted berries + plain greek yogurt or 1/2 banana + 1TBLS peanut butter.

LOVE it!! Speaking of addictions...I'm adding it to my fb page! lol

I don't know if you have the option nearby where you live but in my hometown there is a gym for people of all ages. They have a special glass room for the kids so the parents can keep an eye on what they are doing. This particular gym was pretty inexpensive from what I remember (I was never an official member -- my sister…

As you can see, I'm only down 1 pound but I truly feel things are different this time! I am eating "real" food, not processed "diet" junk. I'm not depriving myself -- if I really crave something I'm going to eat it, truly enjoy it and not feel the least bit bad about it! Of course I'm not going to do that everyday....or…

OMG! I read this a little earlier this evening and said to myself...no I'm not. Well, it's several hours later and I'M STILL ON HERE!!!!! :embarassed: What the heck is wrong with me????

How about just preparing a stir fry? It's cheap and easy and would certainly fit into both your diet and please his tummy :-)
