I weigh daily and don't get upset by the normal fluctuations. I think that's key if you're going to weigh yourself often. You have to be able to look at the long-term pattern, not that you "gained" a pound in 1 day. That said, I don't really have a regular day that I officially weigh myself (I don't record all the daily…

Eh depends what I'm doing. Usually it's no shoes during home workouts, but if I'm on the treadmill or lifting weights, I wear shoes. I don't want to drop anything on my precious tootsies

I realized I feel the same way you do this weekend. I have neurological problems that really take a toll on my health and generally I am unable to go out because of it. But this weekend my next door neighbor invited me to a party he was having and I wanted to go but I didn't even though I was feeling pretty well. I kept…

These are 2 I eat all the time and are de-frickin-licious ;-) 1) 1/4C part-skim ricotta with cocoa powder and a packet of splenda (~100 cals) 2) 1/4C of quaker 1 minute oats (uncooked), 1/4 T cocoa powder, 1/4 T maple syrup or honey or agave nectar, 1/2T peanut butter. You can eat this straight (which I usually do) or roll…

I am a late night binger. When I get tired, I binge. So an above poster mentioned "just go to bed" I totally agree with this if you can! I also happen to be an insomniac so going to bed isn't always an option! If you're on a set eating schedule, try spacing it out a little better. If you're last meal is at 5p, could be…

I don't want children either and never have. I am lucky to be surrounded by (mostly) supportive people who realize that although I love my niece and nephew more than anyone else on the planet, being a mother is just not for me. My mother wasn't thrilled of course, and up until about a year ago, kept telling me I might…

I used to mix some cold leftover quinoa with assorted berries and yogurt and a touch of maple syrup. It was pretty good and quinoa is quite high in protein. :-) Enjoy! Edit: Just realized you were looking for savory.....so may not work but still delish! lol

Buy dry beans for protein! They are fabulous for a budget! Absolutely nothing wrong with frozen veggies if that's what you can afford. Buy in the dry bulk section if you can - usually it's cheaper because it's not packaged and you can buy only what you will use. Day old bread is a great option - just throw it in the…

Any and all! No sense eating ones you don't like ;-) They all have different health benefits - just need to be careful because they vary WIDELY on cals and fat :-) Enjoy!!

I thought..."This person can't possibly be serious..." thankfully you weren't! Because those would not want to be pics I'd want to see!!
-
Congrats on your 5lbs! Off to a fabulous start :-) Like others have said, frozen veggies!! Nothing wrong with that. Dried beans are a must in my house. I pretty much have cut out meat because it's cheaper to eat beans. I make a lot of soups - it makes things last longer! Just made a vegetarian chili using ~ half a bag of…

Absolutely amazing! Congrats!! I started at 215lbs on a 5'1" frame - I'll be thinking of you when I need a little motivation

I read an article recently that juicing is bad - if I can find it again I'll post it. It was written by a nutritionist I believe. Full disclosure: I thought it was kind of B.S. that being said, you're asking so I thought I would share. The article stated that by juicing you're breaking the cell walls of the…

 I am sooooo confused why everyone is arguing with the guy who lost 305lbs! Clearly eating a 900cal breakfast is working for him and he's still losing (granted a 900cal breakfast is not wise for 99% of us!). I think listening to him should be what we are all doing. Eat MORE and enjoy losing weight! Congrats!!!

I eat nothing low-fat except dairy....and even then there are some exceptions! Read the ingredients lists of anything regular compared to the low-fat versions.....it's disgusting! There's tons of chemicals, sugar, fillers to make it taste as close to the original that they can!

I VERY rarely have trouble meeting my calorie goals no matter how healthy I eat. Don't avoid those usually "bad" diet foods....whole eggs, avacados, nuts....they have wonderful nutrients in them that your body needs. That being said....you want ice cream? Eat the ice cream! If it's calling your name, it will eventually get…

My biggest piece of advice....just start slow - it's cheaper to incorporate small changes and you'll be less likely to give up! Change one or two things this week and something else the next. You can start by drinking more water, adding a veggie with every meal or getting in a 20 min walk everyday. Soon, you will develop…

:frown: I'm sorry! I feel for you. This is soooo totally normal and it sucks. This happened when my first true boyfriend broke up with me. I truly thought I was sick - I even went to the doctor! Turns out I was depressed - delayed reaction from stuffing the feelings! Better to suffer through it now because it only makes…

Thanks lillebanon  Glad I can motivate someone  Yes, gemiwing my BMI is VERY high, so you're right, probably could wrangle the paperwork - it IS certainly medically necessary for me to lose the weight with all these other weight-related issues!! You are a font of knowledge!!! :drinker:

I'm bumping because I think wwaaayyyyy more people should read this :flowerforyou:
-
Thank you for the advice and the insight gemiwing! We are both unique and precious snowflakes  I will have to see about that test. Did you do it? Do you know if it's something covered by insurance or if it's one of those fun out-of-pocket deals?? In any case, I will definitely look at that calorie calculator from…

You can't ruin your diet in one meal (or one day!!). However you can ruin your health by not eating enough! Eat more, enjoy a bit of a splurge today, you're body has earned it and will thank you!!

I vote shoes but I'm partial to running  then Insanity, then HRM but I bet you already figured that out
-
It's sssooooo totally up to you! Do you intend to start running (or already run and in dire need of a new pair)??? Then go with the shoes!! If you invest in shoes, go to an actual running store. They will watch you walk, and measure your feet so you will get a pair that fits you perfectly -- no injuries!! Insanity is great…

<my little daily reminder to believe in myself :-) I slap a smile on my face all day every day whether I'm feeling it or not (not that I don't ever cry or get sad of course!) but even if you have to fake it at first at some point it becomes your reality. If you send out positive energy into the universe, positive energy…

Don't be so hard on yourself!! That leads to more bingeing!!! As someone who is a life long insomniac and who for the last 2 years has pretty much slept in only 2 -4 hour shifts, I can tell you that sleeping pills and being sleepy ARE the culprit for me. I tried to go on the same pill you're on and it caused me to sleep…

I didn't read the responses so sorry if I'm repeating. I did Atkins on and off for 2 years and the first 3 days I wanted to kill myself and everyone else around me after that I was ok. I did have a lot of energy, felt great, lost 65 lbs - then gained 20lbs back in 2 months right after reaching goal!! I just couldn't stick…
-
Don't go back down!!! You're working out really intensely and muscles hold onto water as they're being repaired - you didn't gain a pound in a week!! You would need to eat 3500cals ABOVE your maintanance level to do that....you sure as hell didn't do that by eating 1570cals (you may find you need to go higher!) and do all…

I don't do it often, but every once in a great blue moon I do! Why not??? Food is soooo full of color and we, as humans, eat with our eyes as much as our stomachs! I would never do it in a restaurant (or a crappy tv dinner)...seems a little gauche, but something that's been home cooked I will! Enjoy the pics and let it…
