My hubby is great -- he knows that when I go to the gym I'm in a better mood, and is not only good about sharing me with the gym (lol) but also about helping me find the motivation to go when I don't feel like it. He has found the perfect balance of encouraging me to eat well and workout while still making me feel…

I hadn't thought of that, I'll take it into consideration. I'd prefer not to add another type of deadlift because my hands are in rough shape, but if I can't figure out good mornings then that's a great option. Thanks, Rae! (Also -- I feel it in my hammies more when I do GMs, maybe I'm doing the SLDLs [I actually do RDLs]…

Tagging -- this is exactly what I've been looking for.

Ah, I'm not boxing 5-6 day per week ... I box 3, maybe (big maybe) 4 times a week for an hour. The other days I'm doing steady state and one of the days I've been lifting. I think I'll dump one of the cardio days for a second lifting session. That means I'd been doing 3-4 days of cardio per week and 2 days of lifting. I…

What does your workout look like? What is your lifting and cardio routine? Without knowing this, it's hard to make recommendations -- but know little, I'd say start exploring new cardio options. If you're just running, throw in some rowing or jump rope or learn to box. Take a spin class (trust me -- no one's looking at you…

Have you had any birth control changes recently? It's entirely possible that it's related to exercise and diet, especially because you dropped a lot of weight really quickly. Changes in your period should be expected. However, if you're already seeing the doctor next week then definitely mention it. They'll no better than…

I'm interested. :)

Thanks for the advice. I was just thinking (as I woke up this morning and could barely convince my legs to lift me out of bed) that it might be beneficial to try Sunday/Wednesday instead of Wednesday/Friday.

Yes, a bit. I was fairly conservative getting back to the weights and din't want to risk injuring myself, so I may have undershot it just a little. But I'm pretty much back to the point where the weights are challenging on all moves (I've been refusing to go up more than 5 lbs at a time to make sure I don't over do it).…

I appreciate the questions, no worries! I've only been doing this current routine for about a month. I have been lifting for about 2 years now, though, and was doing 3-4 days per week previously. I'm coming back from about a 2 month hiatus from lifting.

With the heavier moves, yes. So, for squats and deadlifts I do. My bench and row are still pretty low (benching with 40-lbs dumbbells and rowing 100 lbs) so I just do a couple of warm-up sets at the same weight (20 lbs dumbbells, and usually just a little something on the bar for the row).
-
I do 1-2 warm-up sets. I rest a minimum of 90 seconds between working sets. I foam roll minimally ... maybe 5 minutes. Wednesday may take a little longer (more like 50 minutes) but still not close to an hour. Some exercises I do not do specific warm-ups because my working weight is so light -- pull-ups and OHP. If I warmed…

Great read, thanks for sharing.

If the cake is for you, tell her in advance what you would prefer in its place. If the cake is actually for the other people celebrating with you, then there's nothing wrong with politely refusing. I'm not against eating cake, but as someone who doesn't really like cake I have refused my own bday cake. People know that I…

Nope. My big sister and I are at least 6 years older than are cousins. We called my paternal grandparents Grandma and Grandpa Fluffy after their dog. Cousins never knew the dog. They call them Meemaw and Pah-paw. Heathens.

If it were a butt contest, new Barbie certainly wins. Hot damn.

I've always wanted to be taller. I'm the shortest in my family by at least two inches ... and that includes my grandmas! That said, I am 5'8.5 ... so I realize I'm not exactly short, but when three of your siblings are 6'+ it kinda sucks.

Hmm, good to know. My PT is not a powerlifter, but he does have some powerlifting background. That said, if it's probably not going to be wroth my time/money, I'm happy to train on my own and maybe just look into online coaching. I planned to drop the assistance volume closer to the date, but definitely feel like it's…

So I just got back to this thread. Sorry for the delay, things are ridiculous around me right now. To address some questions: 1- Eh. It's not where I want to be, because I want to be on the upper end of whatever weight class I'm going for. Right now, I'm carrying more fat-weight than usual which is pushing me into the very…

Somebody's happy to be at the top of the list, lol. I agree -- cuter than playtpuses. But cuter than baby PYGMY hippo? Still up in the air.
-
You clearly are unaware that I have a million photos of baby animals loaded to my computer and ready to go. I will derail this thread from platypuses at the slightest provocation!
-
But nothing tops baby hippo!

I think that's what I'm seeing -- right around the knees where my hips don't seem to be moving. "Do the nasty to the bar" ... I'll try to implement that!
-
Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a shot closer to the bar. I think i may have been a little wary this time because I scraped the **** out of my knee on the knurling during my warm-up.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-quxSZhfq4 My first form check video -- a few disclaimers. My gym does not have a platform for deadlifting, so I have to start really low. They also don't have equipment appropriate for throwing around, so you'll seem me gingerly lowering the weight back to the ground. I feel like maybe I'm…

This is very pretty, I can play around with the colors but I knwo those shapes will not work with my eye. I have a very, very wide eye with a lot of lid and a shallow brow bone -- basically, not even a little bit hooded like the model's, so you'd be able to see every line, lol. It is a very pretty play of colors, though,…
