I'm with SideSteel, I'm not sure how you can't be getting the minimum protein with the food list you gave. Those are all great sources of protein -- you should be fine. It'd be helpful if your diary was open, then we could see what's happening and offer better advice.

Deal.

I'm not saying one way or another whether I think something's wrong with it (too little space to give a good answer) but I will say this -- if one chose to do that, then the noun describing one who does that would apply, wouldn't it? It wouldn't be cavalier in that situation ... it would be apt.

My 1rm squat is 220 lbs. That's over double what I bench. I would be the happiest/proudest person in the world if I could bench over 220 lbs.

I lift heavy 3 times per week, box 3-4 times per week, and do some focused calisthenic-type work once a week. I also live in Chicago, so I walk a lot.

You will not always get DOMS. Treasure the fact that the more you train, the less you will have to fall into chairs just to be able to sit down. You may still get a random case of DOMS every now and then, but you can be working your *kitten* off and not feel a thing the next day. I very, very rarely get DOMS, so when I do…

You're probably losing mostly in your upper body, which isn't affecting your jeans size. Keep working and the lower body will follow suit eventually.

What a pretty kitty!!

OMG, Susie, so cute! And for MissK:

I went from feeling like this one: to this one: ...which is a bit of an improvement. :)

I have trouble deadlifting without my gloves. I've forgotten them a couple of times and even with a mixed grip it's very rough on my hands. I'd have to let go of the bar and shake my hands out between reps (which isn't horrible ... I wish I could drop the weight anyway, but my gym would frown upon it). When you start doing…

My *kitten* is fantastic thanks to deadlifts and squats. No really, it's ****ing amazing.

Love yourself, treat your body with respect, and be happy. These things will help you love and respect other women as well.

I probably should have specified that I don't BELIEVE that running will make my face sag. I just thought it was ridiculous that somebody took it upon herself to "warn" me that running is going to make me ugly, lol. The level of cattiness there is mega. I don't think stupid myths about cosmetics should deter you from being…

I had someone tell me that I should stop running because it would make my face sag and make me look old.

Weight is arbitrary and varies wildly depending on body composition. I am a US size 6 and I weigh 165 lbs at 5'8. I also have relatively low body fat % and don't carry much weight in my lower body. If you have a size goal, then shoot for that size and don't worry about what weight you are. Unfortunately, you won't really…

But maybe their curves are because of their body fat % and they want to retain the curves that they have. So?

Working set of 5: 195 lbs.

At what point will I turn into She Hulk? Am I doing it wrong?

Try something new every time you go until you find a thing you like. It'll keep it from being boring and it'll give you something to look forward to (a new experience). I did this until I discovered boxing, which I love so much that my boxing days are the highlights of my week. Also, if you are truly a person who just…

There is no right way or wrong way to be gay or straight, male or female, etc. Lose weight to be healthier and happier with yourself, not in order to fit your social perception of what a gay man should be.

Lol! Love it <3

I almost hate to admit this ... but yeah. I do love a redhead.

I think it is in part a bastardization of this idea: 'Metabolic and behavioral compensations in response to caloric restriction: implications for the maintenance of weight loss.' http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19198647 "CONCLUSIONS: For the first time we show that in free-living conditions, CR results in a metabolic…

Very true. You've dealt with a lot for someone so young. Those are some heavy things to handle during such a formative time. Luckily, you are still very young and I think you still have a lot of emotional and psychological malleability that would make therapy an incredibly helpful path for you to pursue. Physical and…

...what. That is absolutely ridiculous. Yes, food fuels your body, but it also provides enjoyment. This is why people celebrate with feasts. Denying that there's a difference between a protein bar you hate and an egg white scramble you would enjoy is just ridiculous, ignorant and, in my opinion, downright disordered.…

I'd love to see your reference study for this statistic.

Granola's right. If you are feeling so much fear and animosity towards food then you need to talk to a doctor and seek help. I would absolutely recommend finding a counselor. Food should not scare you, and if it does then you need to find somebody to help you address these disordered feelings and thoughts before this…

I believe you may be referencing that when you eat at a large caloric deficit, your maintenance calories may be lower than anticipated, causing weight gain. This can happen. The cause is usually either the catabolization of lean body mass or the downregulation of NEAT. Since muscle is more calorically expensive for your…

I think you're look at you BMR and not your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). BMR (basal metabolic rate -- example: heart pumping, liver function) is not your maintenance calories. If you eat only your BMR, you will still lose weight because you will not be taking into consideration calories burned through additional…
