  • I'm so sorry for your loss. My own mother died when I was 27. When you're ready, please get the book Motherless Daughters. It's very helpful.

  • I find my cramps improve with exercise. I usually do an hour on the treadmill 3x a week, and water aerobics 2x a week. Both help.
  • eat, drink, and be merry. Whatever that may be. I don't care what you eat, but don't tell me what I should eat. PS...I DO like the taste of meat :-) Take that whatever way you want to.
  • I used to, but both are geriatric now, and get sore with little more than a walk around the block. German shepard/akita mix: we just started with walks as soon as we got him, and the faster we walked, the faster he would. He loved it. He was injured when the lab was about 2 years old, ended up having surgery on one of his…
  • I posted yesterday that I was struggling/had lost my motivation. You do get to a point with this where it's not quite as much fun. It's a lifestyle change, and if that's the truth, who has a daily nutritional routine that is always fun? How about exercise--sure as hell isn't fun here, at least not every time. It really…
  • Thanks, peeps. This is what I needed to hear.
  • I'm a fellow chip a holic. I simply can't have them in the house. However, when we do have them in the house (because that's reality), I will portion them out into baggies. Can't say it works every time to just have ONE bag, but it does help a lot.
  • I'm out of the exhausted mom days, but more than happy to help encourage you. I have recently struggled to stay on track, having recently had surgery. Feel free to add me.
  • This is what I was going to say: Drink it anyway! If you were drinking milk on your cereal, a coke for lunch, and a glass of water at dinner, you've been walking around chronically dehydrated. Another thought: We're talking about 64oz a day spread out over about 16 hours that you're awake during the day. That's 4…
  • I need to lose about 80 pounds yet, at least 80 I should say. I know insurance is an issue, but could you look into therapy through your local county? They usually have a sliding scale fee for people who do not have insurance. Therapy + medication is most effective, but if you can do part of it that may help. Could you…
  • Enell.com I'm a full DDD cup size and this is the best bra ever.
  • There is also a vitamin specifically for eye health, called Eye-Vit (I think). Check with your doctor to make sure there are no contraindications to this before trying it.
  • I'll add my 2 cents worth to this, from a health care perspective. I don't have a lot of 40 year old patients who hit the gym on a regular basis. Those who are active have fewer health problems across the board, including those that are overweight. -Osteoporosis -Heart Disease -Type 2 Diabetes -Arthritis -Chronic pain All…
  • You are absolutely stunning! Thank you so much for sharing.
  • I say keep working out too. We had neighbors below us who were like this. We lived on the 2nd floor of a 3 story complex, and could of course hear some noise above us as well. That's just the way it goes. The people below us, however, couldn't stand us. We were heathens living in sin, and therefore must be in league with…
  • How often are you measuring yourself? I only measure once a month, and there has been a difference every month. Everyone is different, so where notice the differences first are going to be different for everyone. I keep the boobs and lose in my hips/waist first. Do your clothes feel different?
  • I lost 10 pounds my first month, but I started with 100 pounds to lose. Start a workout routine with resistance/weights mixed in and you'll be happy with the results, regardless of the number on the scale. Go to the success forums and take a look pics of woman who have been lifting.
  • I'd ask for a referral to a GI specialist. Water and exercise are great, along with the fiber, but less than once a week is something that needs to be investigated by a specialist, especially if your primary is downplaying your issues. Do you take a stool softener on a regular basis? Like Senna, colace, or Miralax?
  • While I do try to do this, most days I am 100-200 calories below, and occasionally 300 below. I don't sweat this, as there could be variability in my portion size and counting, as accurate as I do try be with measuring. Second, there is usually 1-2 days a week where I end up a bit over. As long as the inches are coming…
  • Make sure your macros are on--especially fat and protein. I would be hungry eating a lot of fruits and veggies too. Lots of water can help keep you feeling full too. That said, there is an adjustment period. Hang in there!
  • enell.com I'm a DDD
  • While I had success with WW and could tell you points value for most foods, I took out a lot of foods from my diet. I used butter substitutes, which tasted terrible, and ate very little protein. No nuts, no peanut butter, and very small portions of lean chicken and other meat. It was just too many points, and points were…
  • I have about 80 pounds left to lose. I've lost 17 on MFP in a little less than 60 days, and almost 25 since I started working out last November. I started by walking on a treadmill, we have one at home. I could walk at a 2.0 for about 10 minutes when I started. I did that 3x a week at first, and worked my way up to 3.0 for…
  • Gotta say, I love 'em too. Love it when veins are easy to find--makes sticking them with IV's a lot easier. Sorry, couldn't resist!
  • I second the idea of speaking with a dietitian/nutritionist.
  • I've been where you are--and I did give up. Now I'm back to the beginning, with an ADDITIONAL 30 pounds to lose. If I wouldn't have given up, I may not have lost more but I sure wouldn't be where I am now. I also concerned about your fatigue. I'm sure plenty of people have already said it--have you thought about seeing…
  • Yes, yes, and YES!! You may need to have a stress test done.
  • Hell yeah. The thing that's bugging me the most right now is all the fad diets that ppl are doing at my work. It's driving me nuts. Most of those that are on these fad diets would benefit way more from a decent exercise program and don't need to cut their calories, just make better choices. However I'm the morbidly obese…
  • Less than 200? It's usually just one meal. We have Chinese takeout 2x a month and that's my "cheat" meal. I'm usually still within my calories for those days. I have friends coming for a weekend next month--ask me then! Likely it's going to be a hard weekend to count calories because there will be multiple meals eaten out.
  • I would discuss this with a dietitian, not an MD. Go to the people that specialize in a particular area. Doctors aren't gods; they don't know everything.
