If you're not hungry, try drinking a glass of chocolate milk or chocolate soy milk. It's has an ideal ratio of carbs to protein for recovery.

Thanks Kitty! The Spring Fever challenge at MHFC definitely helped me stay on track!

Thanks everyone! I had some amazing ladies at work holding me accountable and encouraging me the whole way. Next on the agenda is dropping another 10-15lbs and working on improving my 5K and 10K time. Considering another half in October, depending on whether or not I'm pregnant with baby #2 at that point.

Yep! We're neighbors!

As someone who was/is the fat girl who has now done 2 5Ks, a 10K, and a half marathon, THANK YOU for posting that. Were it not for some fabulous coworkers who kept encouraging me, I'd have never become the runner I've always wanted to be. Anyone who has the courage to take that first step is a rock star and is lapping…

Try a spin class. I used that and yoga to supplement my C25K program.

40:07 for my first and 37:50 for the one I did this weekend. You can use Jeff Galloway's magic mile race predictor to estimate finish times based on a one mile timed trial. That formula has been scary accurate for my 5K, 10K, and half marathon actual results.

This is so me!

Thanks! :-)

Mine is a "before" and "during". 5'3" and 26 years old in the before picture that was taken 3 weeks BEFORE I got pregnant. Only gained 2lbs during pregnancy and delivered a healthy 7.75 lb son, so I actually lost weight while pregnant. Started my current fitness journey at 207lbs in September 2011. "During" picture was at…

I carry the Nathan QuickShot Plus on my shorter runs. It holds 10oz, and the pocket is large enough to carry ID, cash, Chapstick, and a smaller phone (although I can force my iPhone to fit if I have to). I really like the hand strap, and it's really comfortable to carry.…

I'm with you on the walk/jog/wog training for a half....mine's at the end of May. My calves are also totally hating me this morning after my 7 miles (with some hills) yesterday. I've found that knee high compression socks help (I like Swiftwick's Twelves and wear them post-run), and I'm probably going to invest in a foam…

I had my gallbladder removed a little over two years ago, but I haven't noticed any impact on my weight loss. Have you had any blood work done lately to see if there's a potential issue with your thyroid or some other metabolic issue? I know my body had some trouble adjusting to certain foods post-op (i.e. fatty or hard to…

You can count me in. I'm training for a half marathon in May, but this coming week is a taper week for me since I'm running a 5K on the 17th, so my mileage will be lower this coming week than it was this week. I should log about 10 miles from March 11th through March 17th, and my goal for my 5K is under 40 minutes.
-
Be careful about bumping your mileage up from 12 to 20 in one week. Most training programs recommend you increase your mileage by no more than 10% each week, but you're talking about a 60% increase in one week. You're significantly increasing your chances of injuring yourself by trying to progress too quickly.

^^^this^^^. But seriously, it's an awesome cardio class.

You may want to try pigeon pose (yoga position) to help stretch your piriformis and psoas muscles. Standing figure fours also help with both of those.

I took Phentermine/adipex for about 3 months to jump start my weight loss. I lost about 25 lbs, and I've kept that off and lost more by watching my intake and increasing my activity level. While I wasn't wild about taking diet pills, I knew I needed some help to break my attachment to food and help me reframe that…

Mine's open and set to 1200 calories, but ignore last week. Aunt Flo was visiting, and I ate way too much junk!

I'll echo what everyone else has said....talk to your OB. He or she has the same goal as you....the healthiest pregnancy possible for you and your little one. I weighed 224lbs when I got pregnant in October 2008 (my all-time highest weight at the time), and I'm only 5'3" tall on a good day. I had the "how much weight do I…

I use 5K Runner with Nike+ GPS on my iPhone. 5K Runner lets you use your own playlist while Nike+ GPS tracks your pace and distance (in case you're not running on a mile-marked trail). I think the 5K Runner app was around $1, and the Nike+ GPS app was $2.
