  • I lose in chunks. I can go 1-2 months without losing any weight and then suddenly 3-4lbs will drop off... but then I was eating at a very small deficit.
  • I was similar to you in that I started out 28yrs old, 5ft3 and 140lbs. I've managed to lose 12lb but it has been long and slow. One bit advice I will give when I started my weight loss mission is that I took it in very baby steps. Everyone says they don't go on a 'diet' but learn healthy eating for life, that is true but…
  • As a vegetarian you really don't need to take any vitamins, not even B12 which is found in eggs and dairy. If you're eating very little in the ways of eggs and dairy you might consider B12 supplements. Did you take any vitamins before becoming vegetarian? If you did the same ones will probably still apply. You may want to…
  • I'm 5ft3 and I started my weight loss mission when I was 140lb because I was 1lb away from being 'overweight' and having a waist measurement that claimed I was close to being at risk of various diseases. That was a bit of a wake-up call that I need to stop gaining weight and even try to lose some weight. It has been a very…
  • What is this, Sophies Choice? I will not pick my favourite, it's impossible!
  • It's true. Consider this, it's better to gain 5lb of muscle than lose 5lb of muscle. That's a 10lb difference meaning it could be the difference of about 50cals a day. The only problem is it's rare to lose weight AND gain lots of muscle and much more common to experience muscle loss. Exercise and diet plays a huge roll in…
  • At the moment I'm loving this: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/12229/gigantes-plaki with greek salad!
  • A raw spinach salad is wonderful. With meals like that I like to cover over half my plate with salad and then when I eat the salad I dab it in the sauce so I don't have to dress it. Also, follow the meal with a piece of fruit, I know it's more calories but it will help fill you up.
  • Just to comment on someone who mentioned ulcers. This is a possibility, do you take any anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen or such as those can cause stomach pains that feel like hunger. I sometimes get hungry later in the day and it feels like nothing can stop it. I've noticed it's more likely to happen if I…
  • I only work out at home. I have an exercise bike which I use, and I do Jillian Michael's videos (on youtube), I also do weight-lifting with a good pair of adjustable dumbbells. You dont need to spend a lot, but with the dumbbells you would need to learn how to do moves properly... but there is a wealth of information out…
  • Don't do it, Special K is not very healthy and has very little nutritional value (aside from the 'added vitamins' and milk) with lots of sugar and almost no fibre. You'll probably just be hungry and it only works because you're cutting out a lot of calories at lunch time. But you could do the same by having a 200cal lunch,…
  • Go to a doctor. I had this problem, not from weight loss, and I would get it checked out as it could be something serious. In my case it was nothing, but at least I have some peace of mind. But honestly, see a doctor if you're having changes in menstrual patterns.
  • Had William the Conqueror not died in an accident I'm sure his alcohol diet would see him live, well, slender and a picture of perfect health, even today...
  • This is called the William the Conqueror diet, it's legit and has been around since the 11th century, look it up!
  • I weigh myself almost every day. I like to do it because it shows me how meaningless the scale can be. No one weighs a fixed amount all the time so I find it odd when people say 'yay, I lost .5lb this week,' what does that even mean? It's such a small number it could mean anything!!! On the other hand a loss of .5lb is a…
  • They're just trying to stop people eating bananas so that they can have all the bananas to themselves. What greedy people!
  • Are you at a healthy weight and only trying to lose a few extra pounds or already close to your goal weight? Those last few pounds can be hard to shift and you might not notice them moving right away. Four weeks isn't that long. Try a new exercise, mix things up, and don't worry too much. Sometimes the body can be stubborn.
  • I wouldn't worry about getting too much fat, actually, I'd increase the fat you're eating. If you add fat and protein into your lunch and dinner then you might find you need to snack less. Look for good fats. Try regular hummus in your sandwich as the fat in that is normally olive oil, not so scary and it's tasty! Also, I…
  • I think you're in the UK, right? In that case you'll find supermarkets tend to have almost separate sections for their sugary yogurts and their natural ones. You want to look for the section with natural yogurt where the only ingredient is, well, yogurt. They'll still contain sugar in the form of lactose, but that's…
