The restaurant I eat at has a diet menu that is basically dishes prepared without the sauce. I usually get the veggies & scallops & only eat half the rice. Maybe you could ask for a dish with no sauce?

I will admit that one of the reasons I asked is because I like the soreness! It's like a little badge of accomplishment. Thanks for the input, though, I just wanted to make sure that I was getting the benefit that I'm supposed to be getting from the workout. I get up less than an hour before I run, so I don't eat until afterward. I don't like to have anything down the hatch within 2 - 3 hours of working out.

I would say you just need toning, not weight loss. You might lose some weight in the process, but your overall physique will change, and that will make you look thinner.

I would get a second opinion, possibly from someone that specializes in weight loss. Perhaps you'll find that this doctor was right... but hopefully you'll get usable information from someone who is less of a jerk about it.
