Great question! The entire time I've been on this journey, my carbs have always made up anywhere between 40-50% of my daily caloric intake. I love carbs, and I wasn't willing to low-carb to lose weight. Moderation and balance is key.

You are going to burn more calories running than you will speed walking. Your doc should probably stick to writing prescriptions.

I am currently training for a half marathon myself, and I lift three times a week. However, I only started lifting again last month, and my half is this Sunday. After this half, I'm cutting my mileage down from 24-25 miles per week to around 15 and focusing more on speed and strength training again.

Being a true Texan, Dr. Pepper was the problem for me. I could drink Dr. Pepper all day long. I quit it cold turkey, it was hard at first, but now I don't even miss it. :D

I have one cheat meal a week, and I have lost 120 pounds. However, I don't eat to get stuffed, and I still stay within my calorie limit.
