Rather than buying weights which can be expensive, look at getting some bands, a nice set can be purchased for 30 to 40 dollars, which when compared to weights is considerably less expensive.

Try the insanity workout, its a good HIIT workout, you can burn up to 1000 per workout. I generally burn around 650 to 850 depending on the workout. The first month they are 40 minute workout, with the occasional ab workout that adds another 15 min. The second month (which I haven't started yet) are 60 minute workouts.
