Welcome! I'm pretty new to the group too. It's been kind of quiet in here. My husband, son and I are on day 5 of a two-week vegan adventure after watching Forks Over Knives, Food Inc and Food Matters. I've lost two pounds already, while eating 100-200 calories more than I had been previously. We also both have tons of…

Yum! I love beets, and I love feta. Thanks!

Same here.

BUMP for ideas :)

You might be surprised. My hubby used to be a strictly meat and potatoes type, but he's a quinoa convert. He even makes it himself now when he cooks. :)
-
This guy does amazing things with quinoa. He has tons of creative quinoa recipes on his blog, but here are a couple that I really like. Quinoa Black Bean Chili http://www.closetcooking.com/2008/07/black-bean-and-quinoa-chili.html This one is my favorite. I bake the quinoa cakes on a broiler rack in the oven instead of…

An egg white scramble with a tiny bit of brown rice and some turkey sausage.

I plateaued very quickly at 1,200. I also wasn't paying attention to eating back any of my exercise calories. I upped my calorie intake to where I usually net between 1,300-1,500, and since then have been consistently losing a pound a week. Best part is that I don't feel like I'm starving anymore. I don't think there's…

Since getting my HRM, I've found that both the gym machines and MFP have been overly generous in their calories burned estimates. Sounds like you're getting a pretty awesome burn no matter what, but I'd say that a HRM is a great investment for anyone wanting a more accurate calorie count. I've certainly never once…

I don't enjoy lunges, push ups and planks, but I do them because they work. I guess I'm weird because I like squats. I'm also a former running hater who has recently discovered that I actually love running. It's meditative for me, and the feeling after I'm done is like nothing else.

This looks so good. Thanks!!

I buy the kind with jasmine and drink it iced with a little bit of stevia. For some reason I just don't enjoy it hot. LOL! I haven't heard that before. Made me laugh. :D

Yet another rave for c25k here. This coming from a girl who never ran voluntarily before in her life because she thought she "hated" it. Now I'm practically addicted. I'm only on Week 3, so just running 3 minute intervals, but when I started, I could barely get through the 60 second ones. If I can do it, anyone can. :)

Hmmm... Green papaya salad, maybe chicken satay? Now I'm craving Thai. Thanks! :)

This! I got mine from bodytronics.com for less than $60 with a coupon code that someone on here recommended. I love it. Absolutely no complaints, and it confirmed what I suspected. MFP's calorie estimations are way too generous. Definitely a worthwhile investment.

Wow! You look stunning. You've lost years as well as pounds. Truly inspiring and great advice. Thanks for sharing your story!

Yoga pants (Victoria's Secret are my favorite) and tank tops or these long v-neck tees that I found at Target. They're fitted, super soft and comfy. They're thin, so I wear a tank under them too.

1. No clue really. I've made so many positive changes that I can't be sure what is attributed to what. My skin is looking pretty fantastic lately though. 2. I add them to oatmeal, smoothies, yogurt, etc. :)

My "baby belly" (almost 5 years later!). The rest is slowly but surely coming off, but I still look pregnant. ugh...

You look 10 years younger than your before pics. Fit, healthy and happy. Truly inspiring! :)

I'm personally not comfortable logging things like housework and shopping as "cardio exercise." As others have said, I would feel as if I were cheating myself if the intent is to have extra calories to eat. However, I'm traveling my journey, not yours. If someone feels that they can accomplish their fitness goals by…

When I'm at my healthy weight (135), I wear a 6. Sometimes even a 4 depending on the cut. (I've always had hips and a butt) Right now I can barely squeeze into a 14. :( But like you said, weight is carried differently on someone our height. No one believes me when I tell them how much I weigh.
-
I agree that despite being the same height, our goals will (and should!) all be different. Supposedly, healthy BMI range for a 5'9" woman is between 125-170, but it depends on so many factors. I was 127 once after a bad illness, and I looked terrible. However, just 10-15 pounds more than that looks normal on me, and I…

SW: 221 CW: 213 GW: 135 I have a very small build (under all this fat lol), so I'm most comfortable at the lower end of my healthy BMI range where I was for most of my adult life prior to having a kid.

I was only 10 lbs less than you and extremely out of shape when I started the program. I could barely get through the 60 second runs during the first week. But here I am on week 3 now running for 3 minutes straight without feeling like I'm going to die. LOL I'll just echo everyone else here. Get good shoes, take it slow…

Yes please! I need all the help I can get.

Congrats! What an accomplishment! I just signed up for my first 5K in October and am both nervous and excited. You are an inspiration!

I just did W3 D1 as well. The first 3 minute jog was tougher for me than the last one. Maybe because I knew I was almost done. Those were the slowest 3 mins of my life though! You're right- when you think back to W1, it becomes more obvious how far we've come in a short time. This board is full of proof that we can do…
