  • Hi all! My name's Tiffany and I am an avid cyclist. I joined a racing team this year and have achieved a few milestones I'm proud of: first century ride (unsupported), first 5k, first swim across a Cedar Lake. I figured that I could take a little more time to develop my running and swimming (and getting over my fear of…

  • I got myself 3 of these after having breast reduction surgery last year. I am still a 36 C+/D- and they are fantastic. Very supportive, comfortable, unbeatable for the price and steers clear of the dreaded uni-boob. I will say though that after wearing one for a 10 hour endurance event last week, I got a little bit of heat…
  • Indeed! However, I was a stupid, stupid girl. Loving my new saddle so much, I ordered a second one to put on our tandem bike. Instead of taking the one I had been riding for about a month, because it was adjusted perfectly, and putting it on our tandem before the Almanzo 100 this weekend, I put the new saddle on. 100 miles…
  • http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/93689505 Boom! 100 miles of fresh gravel, 25-30 mph headwinds, gusts over 40, 90 degree heat, and TANDEM-ONIUM!
  • So the hubby and I are all set for the Almanzo 100 this Saturday. He thinks I should still be doing intervals up until Thursday. I think I should take it easy and rest up to the event to save my legs. I say this because I notice if I ride hard or a lot during the week, by the time weekend rolls around, I'm pretty spent.…
  • I am curious about this as well. I've been stagnating at the same weight for about 3 weeks. I thought that I was either at a plateau or I found my maintenance level. Thinking about it and reading up on others' posts about this, I realize that I'm currently in an exchange phase. I am noticing my legs becoming more defined…
  • So on my never-ending quest for a comfy saddle, I recently purchased a Selle Italia SLR Lady Flow. I had been riding the Gel version on my road bike for the past year or so and I felt that it was a bit too wide. It kept pushing me forward, so I had to push back, but it was difficult because there was so much padding I had…
  • No, but if they do a good job, can you let me know? I am possibly in the market for some custome jerseys for an upcoming ride.
  • I missed the vote, but I'm fer about it!
  • I found a class that is a fusion of yoga, pilates and barre (ballet) work. I was in ballet for about 12 years and had a killer lower half. It took me back and made me appreciate how hard some of those exercises are. I would recommend that if you could find one near you.
  • For the love of god, someone please tell me too. I refuse to pay up the butt for something that will potentially get covered in gross and torn to shreds. Oh, and just to be needy, nothing pink or flowery.
  • I had the same problem with one of my first bikes. It was just a bit too large for me, so I was over extending. I tried putting a shorter stem on it, but that compromised the stability. I had invested a lot into it, so I was reluctant to trade it in for a better fit, but my back thanked me.
  • So in order to be compliant with the challenge, I got my riding in today as a 2 minute test ride of a friends bike. I know that it was technically after midnight, but I feel the day isn't over until you go to sleep. With that being said, it's time to go to sleep. XX
  • I don't want to knock anyone trying to push themselves, but I think this is a bit ridiculous. The rider should be making gooney faces, not doing the super serious aero-scowl. Thanks for the laugh.
  • Hi all, my name is Tiffany and my husband is an alcoholic. He started going to a support group about a month ago. I'm incredibly proud of him and to be supportive, I agreed that we would no longer keep any alcohol in the house. Because we have not had any alcohol in the house for the past month, I haven't really drank at…
  • I've had my fair share of saddle sores and they are not fun. Mine were from sweating a lot during long, chilly rides. The sweat evaporated leaving a bunch of salt which basically turns your chamois into sand paper, ouch! Finding the proper fitting shorts will also eliminate any sore issues. If you have too much padding on…
  • Don't sweat it, you'll do fine. As long as you know your "areas of opportunity" you'll work through them and get better. Kick some butt tomorrow, we're all rooting for you!
  • My husband and I took a weekend to ride around Lake Pepin in MN/WI. It was one of the most beautiful rides I've ever been on. Bluff country can really take it out of you, but the down-hills are worth the effort. Also, if you're in the area, there is a nice orchard/cidery/winery near Maiden Rock. You have to climb one of…
  • No, I'm not a TCBC member. I have been debating about it though. If you check out my profile, I am training to do a few centuries this summer and will need to log all the miles I can. A group of my friends usually make the Mpls to Stillwater trip a few times a year (usually spring and fall). Casual (conversation) pace and…

  • Joined about 100 other cyclist, bike families, bike enthusiasts and even a few biker dogs today at Gold Medal Park to kick off 30 Days of Riding by taking a tour around Minneapolis. People from the local newspaper were there and we all got spoke cards saying we accept the challenge. I'm excited to commit to something as…
  • Maybe it would help to try out mountain biking on some local single track. It would help to make you a lot more comfortable with turning and braking. Also, cross training on a mountain bike uses a whole different set of muscles which would help with overall fitness levels. Just a thought.
  • Thanks all for the input. I took into consideration that I was super excited over my new shoes and acted like Bambi frolicking all over the meadow. Yes, I did hammer it up quite a few hills, and yes, I pushed myself to ride faster than normal. (passed a bunch of roadies, clocked 20 mph for 5 miles in a row, pretty proud of…
  • Good for you!!! It takes us going outside our comfort zone to see what we're really made of. Way to stick to your guns and to have enough sense to accept that you're not ready for some things, yet. Keep it up and you'll be killing that century marker soon enough!
  • March 6th and 57 degrees in Minneapolis with melting snow and sunshine. Couldn't ask for a more beautiful commute! 14 miles is nothing when you're smiling the whole way.
  • I just joined the racing team of the bike shop my husband works at. I'm nervous but excited to try it. The stipulations are that we have to do a minimum of 6 races this season and I already have one under my belt. Most are local, some just silly, but races all the same. We have two this summer that are 100+ mile, one road,…
  • Hi all! Just joined MFP a few days ago. I'm super excited to have found a bike community on here. A few weeks ago, I joined a bike racing team. The guidelines are pretty relaxed, but we do have to ride in at least 6 races this season. One down so far. My husband and I have signed up for two later this summer that are 100+…
  • I am in the same boat with 40 extra lbs. Add me!
  • I don't know if you have solved your problem yet, but here's a little more info. I live in Minneapolis and bike year round, so that can give you an idea of the conditions I deal with. I would say the most important piece of clothing to wear during winter riding is your base layer. I prefer lightweight wool (Smartwool,…
