Monday: 1 hour run intervals and core Tuesday: am: 1 hour swim/15 minute run pm: 30-40 mile bike (hills) Wednesday am: 1 hour swim pm: 9-14 mile run Thursday: am: 30 minute easy…
  • I would also like to join. I'm Kent. I started my weight loss journey about 6 years ago at 302 lbs. At my lowest, I was 192. I have since begun competing triathlons and love them! I am 35 years old. Over the years, i have gained a bit back here and there. I completed my first full Ironman race in September at 215 lbs. It…
  • I'm in if there are still spots

  • I ran my first half in October in 2:13:20... I ran my first marathon in March and that was a completely different beast!!! I am excited to be running my next half on April 15th!! Feeling like it should go well after all my marathon training! My best advice is to have fun! Don't take it to serious, enjoy the day and the…
  • I ran my first marathon on March 4th and about half way through the training I strained my IT band. I did the foam roller and more stretching before and after the run which did help, but did not solve the problem. The two best things that I found were swimming and going to a run/walk interval. Swimming made a huge…
  • 3 miles speed work this morning on the treadmill, then 25 minute swim. Probably run a few miles with my 4 year old daughter tonight while she rides her bike. The better she gets, the faster and farther I get to go!
  • I suggest a spi belt for holding your phone, inhaler etc, and I have a hand held water bottle that I carry. It straps to your hand and I like it much better than the belts. They bounce around to much and are not very comfortable. Just my opinion, hope it helps! Happy running!
  • For me, it depends on the duration and intensity of the workout. If I am going to be working out less than and hour, I usually just get up and go and then refuel after. If the workout is 1+ hour or if I know it is going to be intense, I will eat a little something.
  • You should have no problem getting ready. I started training in September for my first half marathon and I ran it October 29th. Then I just kept going and will be running my first marathon this Sunday March 4th. Once you heal, find a training schedule and stick with it. I strongly suggest checking out Jeff Galloway's…
  • Have you tried getting fitted for shoes?
  • What do your workouts consist of? If you are doing the same thing everyday I can see how you would very quickly hit a wall. Also, maybe you could find something to work towards other than the scale, for example a run or race. This has become my motivation. I could not find the motivation to get my workouts in until I bit…
  • Here are my goals for March Swim: 8 miles Bike: 240 miles Run: 90 miles
  • Training went great! Running my first full Marathon this Sunday March 4th!!! Next half will be after a 1.2 mile swim and 56 mile bike at IM Kansas 70.3!!
  • My first tri of the year is Kansas 70.3 June 10. I have had to neglect the bike somewhat because I have been training for my first marathon March 4th! This has been good for me though because the run i my weak area and I have seen great improvement. I still have a few more lbs to drop for my tri race weight, but should be…
  • I am training for a 70.3 as well, and I am doing a full Marathon (my first) this Sunday!!! Like several people have said, I don't eat unless I am going to be training 90-120 minutes or more. On my long runs, I have been eating Clif Shot blox. I have 2 about every 45 minutes to an hour. Seems to keep me energized over 3+…
  • I'm in. I am doing Ironman Kansas 70.3 June 10th and I am wanting to race between 185-195. I am currently 217 which give me 22+ lbs to lose in just over 3 months. This should not be a problem with the insane amount of time I will be spending swimming, biking and running! I am also running my first full marathon this Sunday…
  • In a word...YES!! I started running in June and could barely make it a mile. In October, I did my first half marathon and had a blast doing it. I continued my training from there and am scheduled to run my first full marathon this Sunday! I used to despise the thought of running, and now I can't get enough. My advice is to…
