  • almond butter. or really any nut butter. I CAN'T stop myself.. it's nuts. that's why i don't keep anything but protein plus peanut flour (and occaaaaasionally make almond butter in my vitamix) in the apartment. it's not safe.
  • i'm veggie, so a B-complex daily. fish oil, spirulina tabs and cordyceps (when i can afford them). I get enough vit C from my diet, but sometimes I add in a liquid vitamin C. I take it as a good sign that I've been healthy and not sick in 3 years on this regimen.
  • you look awesome! so exciting to see! :) curious if you followed her diet plan or not? I'm staying away from it... 1200 calories bums me out.
  • I got a flex for Christmas this year... Love it! It's been really motivating, especially because of the friends element; makes for healthy competition. You can also track how well you slept, and it syncs up really easily with MFP. The device itself is tough to snap on the first few times, but after that it gets easier to…
  • I'm in the same boat! Gained 2 pounds! I just saw this post though: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/886672-1-5-million-calories-in-775-days just gotta keep going...!
  • Jillian all the way! Seeing results after 3 weeks now, and she pushes you but doesn't murder you to the point of burn-out. Highly recommend body revolution.
  • Plank ups from Phase 1 wk 3 are killing me right now... hatttee theemm... I mumble at her all the way through them. My favorite is definitely punching it out with 5lb weights in my hands - it CRANKS your abs, it's hard but not defeating and I really feel like I'm doing something that'll get results. Who knows what phase…
  • agree - it's about calories in vs. calories out. i'd be so bummed out if that were true.. I eat at least half of one every day :)
  • can't recommend Jillian Michaels Body Revolution enough times... women don't put muscle on in the same way men do. We tend to tighten up as opposed to buik up. i'm about to start my fourth week of the vids and I DEFinitely feel a difference in my strength and muscle tone. Also - I had my tri's tested last year and they…
  • Don't let everyone scare you... but I agree, go see your doc. It's probably nothing, but better to find out whats up and get going treating it. If you're a carrot binge-eater, by the way, that can change your skin color. Happened a bit to me once during a rabbit phase.
  • I came across Maranatha's Sunflower Seed butter like a year ago... then i started putting it on top of my oatmeal. Next thing I know, I'm going through a jar every 10 days! I had to stop buying it. If it's something that's going to sabotage your diet or you don't have a healthy relationship with it, don't keep it in the…
  • There's your answer. I eat at LEAST half an avocado a day (Im lucky enough to work in an office that has them like water for the taking) and I'm not gaining. People get so hung up on fats... it's about total calories in and burning them off.
  • I make a big batch of the following each sunday and eat a cup on my salad at lunch the rest of the week: 1/2 c. dry quinoa (cook, with vegetable boullion cube) 1 c. frozen edamame - steam a few minutes 1 c. chopped carrot - steamed or boiled Quinoa should fluff up to about 1.5 cups, so mix it all together and season as…
  • You can find nutritional yeast (or nooch!) at natural food stores like Whole Foods in the bulk section, or on amazon. It's a staple in many vegan diets, because it provides much-needed B vitamins that non-dairy/non-meat diets lack. It's also a good source of protein. I'd say the flavor is definitely cheesy, but something…
  • i agree with others who say it's overall that matters... but i've noticed when i eat a slightly lighter meal at night, my digestion is better. You're usually inactive from the time you eat dinner to bedtime, so giving your body all day to digest a bigger breakfast might make sense. I'm not always hungry when i wake up,…
  • haven't lost any weight yet after two weeks, but feeling way more in-shape.. so excited to start 3+4 tomorrow! I'm also doing her cardio vid once a week, and running for my other cardio day... on the weekends i'm doing the vids + a run... gotta get in shape for Hawaii in 5 weeks :)
  • I lost weight without even trying while drinking beer regularly and eating a little ice cream most nights.. just needs to fit in your calories :) I will say.. that the past few months I slacked on exercise due to the light change/work, and put on the lbs drinking and not tracking my food. Just keep on top of it!
  • I agree with everyone who mentioned oatmeal, but since you like savory over sweet, try it Mark Bittman style... Make a batch of plain oatmeal, but add in a dash of soy sauce and top with scallions. Mix in any veggies you like while you cook the oats. Yummy and satisfying til lunch.
  • If you're budget conscious, their 365 brand is often cheaper than the average grocery store. I shop exclusively at whole foods, and don't feel the least bit bad about spending slightly more for quality. They'll also sample you a single product under $10 just to try out, and you can return anything you don't like with or…
  • This is a cool site... shows you images of real portion sizes. Great for visual learners, like myself :) http://blog.photocalorie.com/portion-sizes/
  • I use them every day in my morning oatmeal (base recipe - 1/4c oats, 2T oat bran, 1T chia, half banana, 1/2c almond milk, 1/2c water). They make oats a lot fluffier... and as someone who likes that extra volume, they're awesome! Certainly makes me feel more full. No flavor to speak of, unless you use milled chia - which…
  • if you want it to last 10+ years, and would use it at least 3-5x per week... vitamix 5200 is the way to go.
  • I've gone through a couple of the big containers of the chocolate superfood, and definitely notice the difference in my skin, hair and nails. It's pretty tasty compared to a lot of other add-ins. Used it as you mentioned; sort of like a daily multi and a greens boost. Compared to some higher-quality multis, the price isn't…
  • you guys are great... thank you! I'll have to pick one up this week and give it a try :)
  • If you like pumpkin, a bit of pumpkin puree mixed with greek yogurt (fage 0%). Topped with pb2 and mixed with a little cinnamon if you're so inclined.. :) Frozen fruit - cranberries, raspberries or blueberries are all yummy and satisfy a sweet tooth :)
  • There were several things for me.. • There is no justifiable or logical reason for humans to eat other creatures. it's not necessary to exist, be healthy or feel satiated. • Dairy is unnecessary based on all my reading and experimenting (plus i used to have chronic acid reflux and this ended when i quit) • Reading - books…
  • i agree with everyone who mentioned almond milk, but I highly recommend making your own. Take a look at what's on the ingredient list... carageenan has a nasty repuation, and there are usually a slew of stabilizers. Plus it just tastes better. I love it...
  • Oh Vitamix, how I love thee... I make the following on the regular: • Almond milk x2 per week • Soup - butternut, cauliflower, lentil so far. Just be careful of escaping steam when you're done blending :) • Post-workout protein shakes - powder, bananas, kale etc etc • Margaritas - oh yeah! • Hummus hummus • Almond Butter,…
  • hey there! i'm not raw most of the time, but tried it full-on for a while. all I have to say is, I believe growing up with a really unhealthy food lifestyle (think midwestern casseroles, fruit punch, frozen dinners, candy and soda) left me with a weakend digestive system. That made digesting raw foods a lot harder..…
  • I agree with those who mentioned hormones... I've had all kinds of diets, and the biggest difference was made by switching my birth control. If you haven't already, mention it to your general doc and try things out. I also have combination skin, and besides taking hormones or BC, drink plenty of water, eat more healthy…
