Joining late, but that doesn't mean I haven't been running. :) I'm ramping up for a half marathon in October. I know it's a good ways away. Take a close and honest examination of your diet. Does it consist of alot of higher fat foods? Some things like breads, rolls, biscuits, etc can contribute to that high cholesterol number too. Also, do you know the particle size and density of your LDL (bad cholesterol), HDL (good cholesterol). Do you consume alot of…

It's just an excuse for the government to collect more money. The article stated the funds would be allocated toward combating childhood obesity. The tax will not fix the root issue. 1) how will the funds be limited to only it's intended purpose? What's to prevent the government from using those funds to make up budget…

While the OP is correct, it's a bit misleading. One should do 20+ minutes of cardio to be fat burning. Up to the 20 minute mark (approximately), you're basically burning off the sugars stored in your blood and muscle lining. the general statement is correct that if you are at a consistent calorie deficit, you will lose fat.

Why not exercise for 5 minutes more than usual so you can have your usual creamer?

Many times we chose to not do something rather than try, because we think we'll fail. What makes that funny (odd, not "haha") is that by NOT trying whatever it is, we guarantee failure versus whatever chance there is for success. I realize that is applying logic to an emotional issue, but it doesn't make it any less true.…

As written, it had a bit too much of the yogurt flavor coming through so I added a couple of tweaks. 1) 1 tsp vanilla extract 2) 10 drops stevia extract. 3) used Dannon Oikos Triple 0 Vanilla Greek yogurt instead of plain Served with strawberries, the flavor was very good!

Good news! We're only 2nd cousins!!

That wolf is just tasting her to see if she's worth eating later.

I know that list is in alphabetical order.. but really "Overeating" is buried in the middle??? And How is "Living with grandparents in China" relevant and on the list???????????

Make sure you're using appropriate footwear. Cross Training or just general sneakers aren't as good as running or trail shoes intended for the distance and cushioning needed. Congratulations on getting this far. I wouldn't be too concerned about the weight. Just last month I watched a woman roughly twice my current weight…

Agree completely. It's a measure of expectation and appreciation. If the appreciation is in proportional measure...

It's possible... at least in my book.

Not trying to sound like a parrot.... but you have 4 posts (prior to mine, 5 with) go to a dedicated running store and get fitted. Proper shoes for your running gait make a huge difference...If you're serious about running. My jaw dropped when they recommended $160 shoes for me (pronation, more wear on the toe, etc).…

Nah.. looks too much like Jake... from State Farm.... wearing khakis... at 3AM.

At this point in my journey, I don't pay alot of attention to advice from "outsiders." Unless they can prove 1st hand results, it's not worth my time. I do find it annoying when I hear others talking about short cuts to lose weight; x pill, y drug, abc cleanse (this morning I heard the "Taco cleanse".. on the morning…

RealityFades, I started out similarly. I started getting up before the Universe and walking 20 minutes on the treadmill 3 times a week. Distance was less important than just being active. My thought process was by going that early, pretty much straight out of bed, I would be halfway done (or more) before I started to wake…

Until you can conquer the "demons" that are triggering it, I'd recommend what someone else suggested of removing anything tempting from the house. If you're left with limited low calorie options it will mitigate the issue. After a few weeks, your brain may be retrained to the point you can handle it.

Interesting.. If I can come up with my "A" for today, I'm in. :)

A fire in a highrise building (work or home), moving someone out of a dangerous situation (child in the road with oncoming cars...)a whole host of other emergency situations To the OP, don't worry too much about your performance in that class. As someone else mentioned, that class is more cardio, which has it's own…

Wife and I are running the Dallas Turkey Trot 5k. I am also planning on keeping my meal portions at a reasonable size, and the carbs/sugars to a minimum.

As of this morning, I've lost 65 of the 70 pounds I wanted to lose. Almost to maintenance stage. I didn't know that: -That I'd so much energy now. I can't sit still and do nothing any more. I get restless and have to go do something-anything outside and active. On days off from work, I sometimes work out twice just…
