  • I have few priorities in life. The are my wife, my kids and my health. They are all intertwined. In order for me to carry on a healthy and active lifestyle with my family, I need to be healthy myself. It's what motivates me to change my lifestyle. Also, the first few weeks of any regimine are always the hardest. I started…

  • Bump UP My Post.. Get it higher on the boards to make it more visible.
  • After having a digital scale for a few years, i'm ready to go back to the standard dial. I can step on my scale 3 times within 1 minute and get 3 different numbers varying by 1.5-2 lbs. I'm sure it's my scale and how old it is getting, but...

  • Green tea seems to help me. When I'm in a lull at work, I'll go make a quick cup and that satisfies. Good luck.
  • I use Sports Tracker for tracking my mileage. Great site go do with it as well.
  • Goal #1: There was this magic number in my head of 175. Haven't seen that number since before college/military about 21 years ago and I felt that I could get back there. After a 2 month life style change (not diet), I lost 25 pounds and am now there. Goal #2: It seems, according to all of the calculators/trackers etc that…
  • Just wanted to comment on the "cleanse" part. I did a juice cleanse for the first 14 days. Like you, days 1-4 were bad headaches and being all around irritable. Day 5 though, was an awakening. I didn't have to take my naps when I got home from work anymore. I was sleeping through the night without waking up from some bad…
  • Started working hard at it a couple of months ago. Currently reached my "first" goal, a goal that I've had for YEARS! I'm 38 now, less than I weighed when graduating HS and less than i weighed in the Military 14 yrs ago. Running my first 10k in May, and probably 1/2 M in November. Good luck to you!
  • Welcome to MFP! I've been running/eating healthy for the past couple of months, but just found MFP about a week ago. I found that I really like the food tracker and it has helped me stay focused and ontrack. Agree with previous post about the workouts. Walking will be key to that start of your journey. Good luck.
  • I'm with you. Each of my goals has to do with a number on the scale, not how long it takes to get there. I have 3 goals, the third of which I don't expect to achieve for a while. Just keep working towards it.
  • The biggest thing for me, and this was said a couple of time, is BE ACTIVE. If you don't have anything to do, you'll end up in the kitchen, pantry, etc. As far as "not having snacks in the house", that's tough for me because I have 5 kids and snacks are part of the daily routine for them. (They are all super skinny and…
  • There was a point where I reached that "plateau" you are supposed to power through. I could feel my jeans getting bigger but the scale was lieing to me. Keep working on it, watch your calories closely. Weight lose is simple in that you need to burn more than you take in.
